I think most people would like to be remembered by their kindness, love, and willingness to help. To me, this is what's important in life.

This Bible verse says, Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith." Galatians 6:10

Whenever we have the opportunity we should do good to everyone. This should be our most useful asset.

Strength

There have been times in my life where I've thought, "I don't have the strength to do this on my own."

Our Bible verse today has helped me many times. "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." Philippians 4:13 BSV

It's awesome to step out and do something you thought you couldn't do. You find you have more strength than you thought you had.

Strength doesn't come from what you can do. Strength comes from overcoming the things you thought you couldn't.

Before You Know It

The older you get it seems like time is just flying by. Yesterday our children were little and now they are grown. Today is our youngest son's birthday. He's grown into a wonderful young man that we are very proud of. It seems like only yesterday he was a rambunctious little boy.

When we realize how short life really is we won't let precious time slip away.

Set An Example

I like to be around friendly people. So I deliberately go out of my way to smile and be friendly. Not everyone understands my friendliness, but most people respond in the same friendly way.

Today's Bible verse says "Treat others as you want them to treat you. This is what the Law and the Prophets are all about." Matthew 7:12 CEV

If we want people to be kind and show respect to us we need to put this Bible verse into practice. Treat others the way we want to be treated.

Set an example. Treat everyone with kindness and respect. Treat others the way you want to be treated.

Deliberately Practice

This kind of thinking was new to me a few years ago. I am learning that when a negative thought comes to my mind I can deliberately voice a positive thought to cancel it out.

The Bible is full of verses to help us keep positive thoughts in our minds. "Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise — practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:8&9

I like the way the Bible says to "practice these things". I believe we are likely to think negative if we don't deliberately practice thinking good things.

Positive thinking will let you do everything better than negative thinking ever will.

It's Not Over

I have always loved this quote. What an inspirational thought! Just when we think it's over and done with something wonderful happens.

This is the story of Easter. Everyone thought it was over and done with when Jesus died.  But lo and behold it wasn't! It was a new beginning!

Our Bible verse says "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly." John 10:10

Jesus came to die on the cross so that we could not only have eternal life but also live the abundant life right here on earth.

Motivate Yourself

Our thoughts are the best source of motivation. We can think ourselves into success or failure. The choice is ours.

The following Bible verse has been a big motivating thought for me. "I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength." Philippians 4:13

When we know that Christ will give us the strength to do whatever we need to do in life that's plenty of motivation.

The biggest source of motivation is in your thoughts, so think big and motivate yourself to win.

Set Your Standard

I heard a message on this quote not too long ago. I hadn't really thought about it but it's true. It's very important how we treat and present ourselves to others.

Today's Bible verse says, "She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future." Proverbs 31:25

This verse is talking about a virtuous woman but I believe it also relates to men. When we carry ourselves with strength and dignity this sets the standard for how others will treat us too.

The way you treat yourself is the standard you set for others.

Being Optimistic

When we focus on our problems we lose focus on what's important. Just as soon as one problem is over another one comes along. That's life!

Today's Bible verse says, "And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19 NLT

When we know that God will take care of us and supply all our needs we can focus on what's important in life.

Being optimistic isn't always about being happy. It's taking what the world throws at you and saying, "I'm not going to let this get me down."

Change Your World

Dr. Peale taught me a lot about thinking about what I was thinking about. I had a tendency to be stressed a lot. When I was stressed I almost always was expecting the worse.

I learned things are not going to get better by being negative about it. I could think positive or negative. The choice was mine.

This Bible verse helped me to adjust my thinking. "Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts." Proverbs 4:23 GNT

If we want our life to go in a positive way we better be careful how we think.

We tend to get what we expect. Change your thoughts and you change your world.

Invisible

There are many things in life we only see with our hearts. We haven't actually seen them with our eyes but we know deep down that what we see/feel is real.

Our Bible verse says, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9 NLT

God has prepared so many wonderful things for us.

Sometimes the heart sees what is invisible to the eye.

Possibilitarian

Become a Possibilitarian! No matter how dark things seem to be or actually are, raise your sights and see the possibilities. Always see them, for they're always there. Dr. Norman V. Peale

It's interesting how we can raise our sights to see the possibilities even in dark times. Dr. Peale sure has helped me adjust my thinking.

Our Bible verse says, "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them." Romans 8:28 NLT

When we look for the good that God can bring out of a situation we will live the life of a Possibilitarian.

Become a Possibilitarian! No matter how dark things seem to be or actually are, raise your sights and see the possibilities. Always see them, for they are always there.

Problems

We all have problems. It's interesting to watch how people handle them. Some people are all upset and stressed out. Someone else can just go with the flow.

Dr. Peale has another quote I like. "A controlled person is a powerful person. He who always keeps his head will get ahead."

Our Bible verse tells us we will have problems and how to handle them. "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33

We are all going to have trouble. But take heart or in other words, change your thoughts and change your world.

How we think about a problem is more important than the problem itself.

Do Your Best

When we have done our best we don't need to stress and worry if we leave the results to God.

Our Bible verse says, "So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the LORD your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

We can be strong and courageous when we have done our best. We know that the LORD will always be with us.

Do your best and leave the results to God.

Life In Your Years

I've known people who have lived for many years, but quite frankly, they lived a dying life their whole life. However, I've known others who enjoy every day of their lives.

They say your attitude plus your choices equal your life. I think that's true.

Our Bible verse is a favorite of mine. The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. John 10:10

If we're living the rich and satisfying life Jesus died to give us we are putting life in our years.

It's not the years in your life that counts. It's the life in your years.

Happy Thoughts

I think most of us would like to know how to improve our looks. Dr. Peale's quote today tells us one way to do that. Let a series of happy thoughts run through our minds.

When we're happy we smile and our eyes sparkle. Our moods change and it relieves stress. A smile is the best makeup any girl can wear.

Our Bible verse says "A cheerful heart brings a smile to your face;" Proverbs 15:13

How do we get a cheerful heart? Let a series of happy thoughts run through our mind. When we're happy it will show on our face.

Give It As An Offering

When people think about giving an offering I believe most people think about giving money. But giving money isn't the only thing we can give.

Today I heard a story about a woman giving a situation that had hurt her as an offering. She actually wrote it on a piece of paper and put it in the offering plate at church. God took her offering and gave her back more than she expected.

When I heard this story I thought back on how I gave myself and Todd to the Lord after he died. I actually gave both of us over to the Lord as an offering and asked Him to work something good out of it Todd's death. Like this woman, God has exceeded my expectations.

When we give our situations over to the Lord as an offering He can and will work something good out of them.

Look For The Good

I wrote "Every day may not be good...but God can bring something good out of every day." in my introduction on my blogs. I know this to be true because I have personally witnessed God bring good out of situations in my life that were not good.

Our Bible verse points this out. "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them." Romans 8:28 NLT

When this verse says, 'everything' I believe it's talking about the things that aren't so good. When we turn our bad situations over to the Lord He can bring good out of them.

Every day may not be good...but God can bring something good out of every day. Look for the good!

Choose Your Attitude

Viktor Frankl is a true inspiration. He was a Holocaust survivor. We can only imagine the pain and cruelty he suffered.

I admire the way Viktor handled the horrific situation he was in. He couldn't change his circumstances but he challenged himself to change his attitude towards it. We can all do the same.

Our Bible verse challenges us. "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9 NIV

We can be strong and courageous like Viktor because we know the LORD our God is with us just like He was with him.

Happiness Suckers

I spent many years thinking thoughts that sucked the happiness out of me. I could think myself into a real fit in no time flat. I really did not know I could choose my own thoughts. Wow, it was a new day when I found that out.

It's not easy to let go of negative thoughts. But why waste another day being upset and missing your destiny. Why let negative thoughts suck the happiness out of you?

Our life is shaped by our thoughts. So if we want to be happy we can't let negative thoughts suck out our happiness.

Choose Well

What is life? They say it's from B to D. From Birth to Death, but what's between B & D? It's a "C". So what is a "C"? It is a Choice! Our life is a matter of choices. ~ Quotes About Life ~

Every day we make choices. We are free to make any choice we want but we're not free from the consequences we choose.

Let's face it for most of us the thief has stolen many things from our lives. But now we can choose to live the abundant life Jesus died to give us.

Good Tenant

We all have had many negative things happen in our lives. We can rent space in our heads to these unpleasant things if we choose. However, if we want to be happy we need to only rent space to good tenants.

It's our choice who or what we rent space to in our heads. If we want to be happy we can focus our thoughts on things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Expect The Best

What are we expecting? When we expect the best we release a magnetic force in our minds. We feel optimistic and hopeful.

Today's Bible verse says, "I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living." Psalm 27:13 NASB

We do not have to live in despair. We can believe to see the Lord's goodness in our lives. We can expect the best and with God's help attain it.

Change your thoughts and you can change your world. We tend to get what we expect. Expect the best!

Drive The Bus

If you feel like life has thrown you under the bus; it's time to decide to start driving the bus.

I heard a story about this quote. Two women were having a conversation. One said to the other, "Life has just thrown me under the bus." I don't know if she realized it or not, but her story wasn't half as bad as the person she was talking to. In response to her sad story, the other women said, "Well, it did me too, but I decided to drive the bus."

We can stay under the bus living life with a chip on our shoulder if we choose. Or we can shake it off and remember all the good things we have that we can be thankful for.

I took a woman to a Psychiatrist office for counseling. The interesting thing was when she came out she had an assignment. She was to write down 10 things every day that she was thankful for.

She had a choice to stay under the bus or start driving the bus by doing the assignments given. The choice was hers.

If you feel like life has thrown you under the bus: it's time to decide to start driving the bus.

Excuse Bag

There may be many reasons why we are the way we are. Don't let them be an excuse to stay that way.

I think most of us carry around an excuse bag for our behavior. I know I've used plenty of excuses. One being, "If you knew what I've been through you would see I have a good excuse."

Personally, I wanted to stop making excuses and get well mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. I wanted with all my heart to move forward.

The story of the man lying by the pool for 38 years really opened my eyes. When Jesus saw him there our kind, tenderhearted, loving Jesus said 6 words, "Do you want to get well?" Right away this man started to make excuses. Jesus said, "Stand up. Pick up your mat and walk." (read the story in John 5)

If we truly want a change in our lives we need to stop making excuses. I was 38 years old and at a turning point in my life when I read this story. I had been lying around pulling one excuse after another out of my excuse bag. These excuses made me bitter, angry, and sometimes literally physically sick. I needed and wanted to get well.

We have to get rid of excuses. There may be many reasons why we are the way we are. Don't let them be an excuse to stay that way.

Turn The Page

There comes a day when turning the page is the best decision for you because you realize there is much more to the book than the page you were stuck on. ~ Quotes About Life ~

We all have a past and things that have happened to us that we would be better off to just let go of. It's not easy to move on when our past is pulling us back. I've learned that I can't move forward if I keep reliving my past.

Today's Bible verses have helped me focus on the future and not the past. “Do not call to mind the former things; pay no attention to things of old. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? Isaiah 43:19

Sometimes I don't see the new thing especially when my mind is thinking about the past or some present negative thing that's going on in my life. But when I change my thinking and start looking for the new thing I start to feel hopeful again.

There comes a day when turning the page is the best decision for you because you realize there is more to the book than the page you are stuck on.

Waiting For Approval

Everyone has an opinion! We can't live our lives waiting for people's approval on how we live it.

I decided a long time ago that I wasn't going to waste my time waiting for people's approval. I think we can listen to good advice but in the long run, it's our life and we need to live it.

Today's Bible verse tells us whose approval is important. "Obviously, I'm not trying to win the approval of people, but of God... Galatians 1:10

When we are doing our best to work the plan God has for our lives we do not need people's approval. It's nice if they do approve but if they don't we won't waste our time stressing about it.

Life is too short to waste time waiting for other people's approval on how you live it.
