Looking back on my past, I know God never gave up on me.

I remember one of my lowest times when the words of the song "Jesus Loves Me" came to my mind. I was shocked! I hadn't thought of that song in years. But, even though I had not thought of this song or God for many years, He still thought of me and let me know by bringing this song to my mind.

Our Bible verse says, Love never gives up. 1 Corinthians 13:7 GNT

God loves each of us as if we were the only ones. His Love for us never gives up!

Feed Your Faith

It's amazing what will happen when we feed our faith with the promises of God. God's promises will encourage us and strengthen us all along our journey.

Even when we go through difficult times, we can know that God promises to bring good out of it. Now that's something to feed on and always remember.

Say Yes

The best decision we will ever make is to say Yes to God's best for us. Once we realize God only wants the very best for us, it should be easy to say, Yes to His plans.

Our Bible verse says, "For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11 NLT

The LORD does have a plan for all of our lives. It's a good plan to give us a future and a hope. When we begin to work this plan, we will be the people we were created to be. I truly believe this!

Saying Yes to God is the best decision we can ever make. Let's say Yes to God's best for us.

God Will

Knowing that God loves us so much that when we ask, He will give us whatever we need can help us relax. I try to remember this when I get in stressful situations.

Going to the doctor is one of those situations. I'm in good health, which is good since I get uptight for my yearly check-ups. Some people call it white coat syndrome, but for whatever reason, my BP goes up from what it is at home. So I put this bit of advice into practice this week, and my BP was like it was at home. 116/69.

Our Bible verse says, But the Lord stood with me and gave me strength. 2 Timothy 4:17 NLT.

Yep, I knew the Lord was with me, giving me strength and allowing me to relax and stay peaceful.

God will give strength for every battle, wisdom for every decision, and peace that passes understanding.

Your Work Will Be Rewarded

Yesterday, on our 54th anniversary, we had our doctor's appointment for our yearly check-ups.

I've never had too much trouble with my weight, but I wanted to lose a few pounds before this appointment. So I have been diligent with my eating habits, walking on the treadmill, doing ball exercises, etc.

Surprisingly, I weighed 3 pounds less on the doctor's scale than ours at home! My blood pressure was 116/69. I even was able to buy a size 2 pair of jeans. Oh, happy day!

I am happy I didn't give up on this goal, and my work was rewarded.

Always Trust God

When we feel worried and stressed, it's hard to be at rest. But when we put our trust in God, He gives us His peace, and in Him, we can rest.

Our Bible verse says, Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5 NLT

We can trust the LORD and not try to depend on our understanding to stay at rest. We don't need to try to figure everything out.

Rocking Chair

It may take some time, but eventually, we will find that worrying is like sitting in a rocking chair. It gives you something to do but gets you nowhere. Worrying is a waste of time!

There we have it. We can give God all our worries and cares because He cares for us. I have found worrying won't help. But I have His peace when I give God my worries and cares.

Give God your worries, and He will give you His peace.

Stay In Peace

Not allowing another person or event to control our emotions is essential for peace. Personally, if I don't put this into practice, I will pay the consequences.

I repeat our Bible verse when my emotions start to get off course. "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not be afraid." John 14:27 NIV

We cannot let our hearts be troubled or afraid if we want peace. Jesus has given us His peace; now, we must choose to stay in it.

Our Thoughts

We all go through hard times in life. But it helps to remember to think about what you are thinking about when you go through them. We can make matters worse with our thoughts or help ourselves by thinking about good things.

Our Bible verses say, Fix your thoughts on what is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Then the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:8&9

If we fix our thoughts on things that are excellent and worthy of praise, these thoughts will help us in our everyday life. I love how this says God's peace will be with us when we think these thoughts.

Mustard Seed

I used my mustard seed faith many years ago and wrote a letter to Dr. Norman V. Peale. At the time, I didn't know what a mustard seed faith was, but now I can see I put this small faith into practice.

I did not know who Dr. Peale was when I started to read his books. I was searching for something, but I didn't know what. But later, I found out Dr. Peale was a minister who wrote his books for mostly the unchurched, which I most certainly was.

Dr. Peale wrote about people who had these overcoming lives no matter what they were going through. I thought they were half nuts initially, but I also wanted what they had.

After I gave my life and Todd to the LORD, and He had brought many great things out of Todd's death, I wanted Dr. Peale to know and to thank him for helping me.

I knew Dr. Peale received thousands of letters a day. But somehow, this did not stop me. I now see I was using my mustard seed of faith and wrote him anyway.

I started my letter, "Dear Dr. Peale: I became acquainted with your writing strictly by accident. If I had known you were a minister, I wouldn't have touched your books with a ten-foot pole. I was searching for something. I wasn't sure what."

Well, to make a long story short, Dr. Peale received my letter and printed it. This letter went out to 118 countries in a magazine and was also printed in two books. The rest is history.

I know now if something is the LORD's will for our lives, all we need is a mustard seed of faith and to step out.

We can all say, Step back! I have a mustard seed, and I'm not afraid to use it.

I Will Say

We can help ourselves with our words. For example, I helped a woman who had had a stroke several years ago. She talked to herself out loud to help her remember what she was doing. I found her method very helpful. Of course, we don't always need to talk out loud if other people are around, but we sure can if we're alone.

Another way to encourage ourselves is to say Bible verses out loud. When we do, we can make them personal. It is amazing how doing this will encourage us on our journey.

Our Bible verse says, "I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." Psalm 91:2 NIV

This verse says I will say so I can see it's important to say words that will help and encourage us.

Words matter. And the words that matter most are the ones you say to yourself.

Write It Down

Do you have a goal you want to achieve? If you do, don't make excuses; make progress. Sometimes you may need to encourage yourself. Of course, it's nice to have other people who will cheer us on, but in the long run, we need to find ways to motivate ourselves.

Our Bible verse says, Write the vision and make it plain. Habakkuk 2:2

When we have a vision, something we want to accomplish, this verse says to write it down and make it plain. This is very helpful in encouraging us to reach our goals.

I have a goal. Each day I write down on a calendar what I have done to make progress toward my goal. I make it plain, and I encourage myself this way.

Don't make excuses; make progress because sometimes you have to encourage yourself.

Who's Crazy About You?

Isn't it great to know that God is crazy about us? We don't need to doubt God's love. When we know God is crazy about us, we can keep calm.

This is handy when people don't like us. It's a fact that 10% of people won't like us no matter how nice we are. So that being a fact, we can keep calm because we know God is crazy about us.

Keep Your Peace

If we truly understood how important peace was to our health, we would do whatever we needed to live in peace. But, unfortunately, I only understood this once my health problems got my attention. It took some time to get the message, but now I know how important it is to keep my peace.

Stress, worry, and upset are not good for our health, but a peaceful heart is healthy for our bodies.

Peace begins from within. If you are not peaceful inside, the world you see will be chaotic.

Freaking Out!

I will always remember Super Bowl Sunday many years ago. This was the 1st time I had ever given my testimony in public. I was freaking out!

A friend I had known for years kept bugging me to come to her church and give my testimony. #1 I didn't go to church. #2 Her church was one I had heard odd things about. #3 I didn't want to talk about Todd's death. #4 I had no idea what I would even say. #5 I was terrified to speak in front of people. The list of excuses went on.

But the day came. I had not prepared anything to say. I figured I could get out of talking. But now, here I was in a panic. I began to pace the floor. I was sweating and shaking. As the time to leave came closer, my nose began to bleed. I was having a hard time getting it to stop. Then, a thought came to my mind as I had my head in the sink. "Kay, I didn't give you this Spirit of fear. I'm giving you power, love, and a sound mind." I didn't know this was a Bible verse at the time.

Then it hit me! Another thought came to me, "If the devil's working overtime, something good is going to happen! The Bible verse, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me! Philippians 4:13 also came to my mind.

I did go! I had a new determination! Nothing was going to stop me now!

I have no idea what I said, but people came running up to the front after I spoke and hugged me. These "odd" people were precisely the kind of people I needed.

This was the beginning of giving me testimony in many different places, including other churches. The Lord knew I needed to talk about Todd's death and how He had brought so much good out of it. Talking somehow brought a healing balm to my broken heart.

God knew what I needed, and He did give me His strength. I am forever grateful I did step out, even though I was freaking out!

Turn The Page

I've done different things over the years that I believed were God's plan for my life. Each one served a purpose for a time. When one job changes does not mean God's through with you. It just means it's time to turn the page and move on.

Sometimes it's hard to turn the page and move on. I have kept doing some things longer than I should have. But there comes a time in your story when it's time to turn the page.

Just because something you've been doing was right for a time doesn't mean it is a lifetime assignment. When the horse is dead, it's time to dismount! Or when the cloud moved, they moved (see Exodus 40:36)

For everything, there is a season. We may do something for a time, but there comes a time to move on. Season's change!

Who Loves You?

When we know that God loves us, even the rascals we are, we can show His love to others. When we love others, whether they deserve it or not, they will learn who we belong.
