What distractions threaten us from God's purpose for our lives? This is a question we can ask ourselves. I'm sure it's different things for each one of us.

But if we want to be the people, God created us to be and do the work He wants us to do, we need to keep our focus.

Our Bible verse says, Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith. Hebrews 12:2 AMP

We need to look away from all that distracts us from Jesus. He is the Leader and Source of our faith. Jesus will help us to be all we can be.

I Am What I Am

Most people can relate to this quote. There are many things we are not, but by God's grace, we can say, I am what I am. Yesterday, I said, I'm not the person I used to be. I've changed a lot over the years by the grace of God. Thank the Lord! But I have a long ways to go.

Our Bible verse says, But by God's grace I am what I am, and the grace that he gave me was not without effect. 1 Corinthians 15:10 GNT

It's all about God's grace. When we give our lives to Him, He gives us the grace to change little by little.

One Day You Will

When I got up this morning, I could not even see the house across the street because of the smoke in the air. I thought about how life is very much like this. Many things need to be clarified. We don't see God and what's going on clearly. But, one day, we will.

Today's Bible verse came to my mind as I looked out the window this morning. It says, "For now, we see through a glass darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known." 1 Corinthians 13:12 WBT

Right now, in our lives, we don't see God or many things clearly. But one day, we will see Him face to face. We will have a clear picture then and understand.

You may not understand something right now, but one day you will.

Miracles Happen

I'm sure we all have seen God's miracles in our lives. When God steps into our life, miracles do happen! It's incredible what a simple prayer can do.

It's not easy not to worry, but when we pray and tell God what we need, being thankful, He steps in, and miracles happen.

Beauty For Ashes

We all have a story. Most of us have been through many troubles and heartache that have been messy. But we can give everything to God, and He can make something beautiful out of them.

When we turn our heartaches, troubles, and despairs over to God, He will give us beauty, blessings, and festive praise.

Forgive Quickly

When we forgive quickly, we keep the toxins like bitterness, anger, etc., out of our life. Resentment and anger hold us back from the life Jesus died to give us. Forgiving quickly keeps the toxins from getting embedded inside us that steal our joy.

Our Bible verses say, Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother who sins against me? Up to seven times?" Jesus answered, "I tell you, not just seven times, but seventy-seven times! Matthew 18:21&22

Seventy times seven is a figure of speech. It means as often as is needed! How many times has God forgiven us? We must forgive ourselves and others as often as necessary for our well-being.

Forgiveness is not something we do for other people. It's something we do for ourselves to move on.

God Remains Faithful

No one is perfect! We all have weaknesses, we all have sinned, and we all fail! But God gives us strength and grace! Even when we are unfaithful, God remains faithful to us.

God is always faithful because that is who He is! God knows we are not perfect, and He gives us grace because He is!

Set Yourself Free

Christ has set us free! Now it's up to us to set ourselves free and walk in that freedom.

Many things hold us back that we should let go of to be free. Take, for example, unforgiveness. This holds us in bondage. When we hold a grudge, we are not free. The list is endless of things that steal our freedom.

Our Bible verse says. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1

Christ died to give us freedom! Now it's up to us to stand firm and not live under the burdens that hold us in slavery.

Christ has set me free. It's up to me to walk in that freedom.

Don't Take It For Granted

We take so much for granted. How many times when we wake up do we even give it another thought? I know I don't. I get up and begin my day. Maybe later, I'll remember to be thankful, but not always.

Yesterday, I wrote about a family member who went to bed thinking he would wake up but never did. Boy, this got my attention.

We should thank the LORD for waking us up for another day. He is so good to us, and His faithful love endures forever.

Waking up to see another day is a blessing. Please don't take it for granted.

Do You Not Know?

It is so important to take care of our health. Many people only think about their health once something wrong happens. They say health is the new wealth. I believe that!

I am in the last third of my journey on Earth. I want to be strong, healthy, and feel good. To do that, I know there are certain things I need to do. Eating healthy and exercising are two of them. I try not to take good health for granted.

Our Bible verse says. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. 1 Corinthians 6:19 NIV

Well, we know now! Jesus paid the price! Our bodies are the temples of His Holy Spirit. It's up to us to take care of our bodies for our spiritual and human lives.

Take care of your body. It's the only place you have to live.

Results Will Come

It takes work to keep doing what we know is right at times. I don't always feel like walking on our treadmill, exercising, and stretching 7 days a week. But I know I will feel better and reap the benefits if I do.

We should always strive to do good in everything we do. We may not feel like it, but we don't need to feel like it to do it! We will see the results if we don't give up.

Not Everyone Will Understand

It's okay if not everyone understands your journey. If you believe what you're doing is something God has called you to do, be yourself and continue.

This has happened to me. There have been people who haven't understood the things I've done since I became a Christian. To be honest, I've surprised myself at times. But deep down, I know what I have done in the past and am doing now is part of my journey.

Our Bible verse says. Moses thought his people would understand God would use him to give them freedom. But they didn't understand. Acts 7:25

Even Moses thought his people would understand, but they did not understand. Moses had a job to do, and eventually, the people did understand, but they did not at first.

Not everyone will understand your journey. Just be yourself and carry on.

Team Players

Shout out to the dads who change diapers, cook meals, do laundry, give baths, put kids to sleep, and are team players in parenting. Happy Father's Day!

We are so proud of our son, Brandon, and son-in-law, Joe, who do all these things. It's been fantastic to watch Brandon and Joe step up and change diapers, cook meals, do laundry, give baths, put the boys to sleep, etc. These guys are not just fathers. They are daddies and team players.

God Is Always Working

What a comfort to know that God is always working. We may feel anxious about a situation, but that doesn't mean God is not working behind the scenes. Also, His timing is different from our timing.

There ya have it! God, the Father, is always working, and so is Jesus, God the Son. We can rest and stay in peace, knowing God is working!

I truly believe God has a plan for each of our lives. I also think He had a reason for creating each of us. We all have something to do while we are here on this earth.

This verse makes it clear. God does have a plan for each of us. His plans are for our good! Also, His plan will give us hope and a future.

Now it's up to us to live the good life God has for us, which gives us hope each day and a future living eternally with Him.

Always Remember

Looking back over our lives, I am sure we can think of many things God has done for us. Sitting and thinking about the deeds and miracles I have experienced makes me smile.

The Bible is full of miracles the LORD has done. But we should always remember what He has done for us also.

Yes, we are blessed when we put our trust in the LORD. We have God-confidence and don't need to rely only on our self-confidence.

The Solution

When we think about the attitude Jesus had, we know it was positive. He saw the good in people and trusted Himself to His Father. We should do our best to do the same if we want to live an overcoming life.

Celebrate Life

Yesterday was a Celebrating of the Life of my cousin, Judy. It really was a celebration too. Jim, Judy's son, told me no tears; this was a celebration! I believe enough tears were already shed, so it was time to Celebrate Life.

I had never met Jim. We chat on FB often, but we have never met in person. I was really looking forward to seeing him.

We arrived on time, and I saw many people milling around. I was wondering if I could figure out who Jim was. I told him on FB I would be wearing a polka-dot top. Bill noticed a guy hugging a woman in a polka-dot top. He said I bet that's Jim, and he thinks that's you! As I looked the crowd over, several women had polka-dot tops on. I had to smile!

Finally, I decided to ask a couple if they knew who Jim was. Much to my surprise, the guy I asked just happened to be my first cousin I had never met.

Yesterday was indeed a Celebration of Life! It was wonderful to see people I knew and to also meet people I didn't know.

Pere Marquette Bistro and Catering Deb Ahlich-remus did the catering! Deb and her staff did an excellent job! I highly recommend this catering business.
