New Hope

Start each day with new hope. Leave bad memories behind and have faith for a better tomorrow. ~ Memories Quotes ~
How can we start each day with new hope and leave bad memories behind? We can do this by replacing a bad memory with a good one. By deliberately substituting a negative thought with a positive one we can start each day with new hope.
Our Bible verse says, "Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise." Philippians 4:8 NLT
Why make ourselves unhappy thinking about bad memories. We can leave bad memories behind and start each day with new hope for a better tomorrow. We do this by fixing our thoughts on things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Keep Strife Out Of Your Life

Go the extra mile and keep strife out of your life. Walk away when you feel like arguing--that's a sign of strength. ~ Strife Quotes ~
This quote says, "Walk away" but I might add "Scroll past." If we want to keep strife out of our lives me may need to walk away or scroll past things that would draw us into an argument.
I love today's Bible verse. "But have nothing to do with foolish and ignorant speculations [useless disputes over unedifying, stupid controversies], since you know that they produce strife and give birth to quarrels." 2 Timothy 2:23 AMP
When stupid starts we can just walk away or scroll past. It's a sign of strength to walk away when we feel like arguing over useless disputes and stupid controversies.
Let's keep strife out of our lives.

Uncertain Roads

Faith isn't a feeling. It's a choice to trust God even when the road ahead seems uncertain. ~ Dave Willis ~
We may think we know what lies ahead of us, but do we really? My dad used to say this to me, "You think you know little girl, but you don't know."
Our Bible verse is one I have hanging on the wall. "Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding." Proverbs 3:5 NLT
Many times the road ahead seems uncertain. We don't have to understand everything. No matter how we feel we can choose to have faith and trust God with all our heart

Serenity In The Storm

Serenity is not freedom from the storm but peace within the storm. ~ Peace In The Storm Quotes ~
We can have peace even if things are stormy in our lives when we know that God is in control. He will work everything out for our good as we put our faith and trust in Him.
These two Bible verses can help us. "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." John 14:27 NIV "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them." Romans 8:28 NLT
We don't have to be troubled or afraid in our storms. We can have serenity. God puts His peace in our hearts. No matter what happens we know that God will work everything out for our good when we love Him.

Positive Thoughts, Feelings, Experiences

Positive thoughts generate positive feelings and attract positive life experiences. Quotes
It's so important how we start our day. There's a quote that says, "One positive thought in the morning can change your whole day."
Our thoughts affect every aspect of our lives. Our Bible verse says, "Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts." Proverbs 4:23 GNT
We need to be careful how we think; our life is shaped by our thoughts. Positive thoughts generate positive feelings and attract positive life experiences.

Change Your World

Change your thoughts and you change your world. Norman V. Peale
It may surprise some people that we can actually choose what we think. We don't need to dwell on every thought that falls into our minds.
These Bible verses can help us. In 2 Corinthians 10:5 it says to take our thoughts captive. Taking your thoughts captive simply means gaining control over what you think about yourself and life.
Philippians 4:8 it says to "Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise."
If we want to change our world we may need to change our thoughts. We can choose what we think. Our world will be a much brighter place when we fix our thoughts on what is excellent and worthy of praise.

A Smile

Let us always meet each other with a smile, for the smile is the beginning of love. ~ Mother Teresa ~
There are lots of quotes about a smile. A smile can make others feel comfortable around us. A smile is the universal language of kindness. A smile can give someone else a reason to smile. A smile can start a friendship. Plus, a smile makes everyone look better.
There are quick health benefits of smiling too. A smile lowers blood pressure, improves our moods, relieves stress, strengthens your immune system, lessens pain and it is contagious.
Today's Bible verse says, "Smiling faces make you happy, and good news makes you feel better." Proverbs 15:30 GNT
Let's always greet each other with a smile. It's not only good for our health and improves our looks, but it's the universal language of kindness and love.

Strength

Strength doesn't come from what you can do. It comes from overcoming things you once thought you couldn't. ~ Quotes ~
How many times have we said to ourselves or others I just don't think I can do that! But somewhere deep within we muster up enough courage to just do it. We actually surprised ourselves and others and now we are stronger because of it.
Our Bible verse was one that got my attention years ago when I didn't even know the Lord. "I am the LORD, and there is no other besides me: and there are no gods. I'm strengthening you, although you have not acknowledged me," Isaiah 45:5 ISV
Our strength to overcome comes from the Lord even though we may not acknowledge that it comes from Him. He will give us the strength we need to overcome things we thought we couldn't do.

This Far

You didn't come this far to only come this far. ~ Inspirational Quotes
Keep moving forward and only look back to see how far you have come. Stay positive and stay strong!
Our Bible verse says, "Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you." Proverbs 4:25 NLT
We can't let little silly things stop us from moving forward. We haven't come this far to only come this far. We need to stay positive and strong! Let's look straight ahead and focus on what lies before us.

Strength Grows

Strength grows in the moments when you think you can't go on but you keep going anyway. Strength Quotes
We all go through times when we feel like giving up. But when we keep going we find that our strength grows.
Our Bible verse says, "Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand." Isaiah 41:10 NLT
It's important to remember to not be afraid or discouraged when we feel like giving up. God is with us to help us and to give us strength.
Strength grows in the moments when we think we can't go on but we keep going anyway.

Meaningful Silence

A meaningful silence is better than meaningless words. ~ Inspirational Quotes
Sometimes our silence, when someone is expecting us to get upset, speaks louder than words spoken in the heat of emotion.
I like these Bible verses. "But Jesus said absolutely nothing to him in reply, so the governor was very surprised." Matthew 27:14 GWT A man of knowledge restrains his words, and a man of understanding keeps a cool head. Proverbs 17:27 BSB
I like to remember how Jesus handled adversity. When He was accused He said absolutely nothing. When someone expects us to get upset and we remain silent we show we have knowledge and we are keeping a cool head.
A meaningful silence is better than meaningless words.

I Have So Much To Do

Years ago I found myself in a situation where I didn't know how I would ever get everything done. We had just become foster parents. We not only had our two children but now 5 more children had moved in.
What complicated the situation was that we had scabies and pinkeye problems. This called for doing lots of extra laundry and cleaning.
Another complication was that the mother of these children was in the hospital and called frequently wanting me to check on her trailer and the animals on the property where she had been staying.
Now shopping and cooking for 9 people was not something I was used to doing. I was starting to feel overwhelmed.
I was a new Christian at the time and came across a quote that Marin Luther had said. “I have so much to do that I shall spend the first three hours in prayer.”
Well, now like Martin Luther I was in a situation where I had so much to do that I thought I would try what Martin had done. I decided to get up at 4:00 am and spend time with the Lord before I started my day.
I can't tell you how much this helped me go through the day and get everything accomplished that needed to be done. If you find yourself having so much to do try spending time with the Lord first it sure helped me.

Whatever It Takes

Let the rest do whatever while you do whatever it takes. ~ Grant Cardone ~ Better Course Of Life Quotes
Once we decide to take a better course in life we can't wonder what other people are doing. We need to do whatever it takes to live our own life.
Our Bible verse says, "Whatever you are doing, work at it with enthusiasm, as to the Lord and not for people." Colossians 3:23 NET
Enthusiasm is an awesome word. One definition I read said, "Divinely Inspired." If we are enthusiastic about our lives we will let the rest do whatever while we do whatever it takes.

Daddy's Little Girl/Boy

With God, you will always be Daddy's little girl/boy. ~ God Our Father Quotes ~
Not everyone grew up with a loving earthly daddy. But even if that was so we do have a loving Abba (Daddy) in heaven. God is our Father and He always loves us.
I doubt there are very few of you who don't know all of this Bible verse. "Our Father who is in heaven...Matthew 6:9
That's right it says, "Our Father. We all have a loving Father who created us and loves us with an everlasting love. (See Jeremiah 31:3)
I was blessed to be Daddy's little girl with an earthly father.  However, I make sure on Father's Day I also thank my heavenly Father who not only loves me, but He also loves all of His children with an everlasting love.

Practice The Pause

When in doubt, pause. When you are angry, pause. When stressed, pause. And when you pause, pray! ~ Quotes ~
There's another quote I really like. It says, "Speak when you are angry and you'll make the best speech you'll ever regret." ~ Ambrose Bierce
I like these two quotes because I think they can help us try to keep our mouth shut when our feelings rise up! Just because we're given an opportunity to get angry we don't have to take it.
This Bible verse kinda tells it like it is whether we like it or not. "A fool vents all of his anger, but a wise man brings himself under control." Proverbs 29:11 NHEB
When we practice the pause and pray we can keep ourselves under control so we won't make the best speech we'll ever regret.

Feeling Or Decision

Sometimes happiness is a feeling. Sometimes it's a decision. ~ Happiness Quotes ~
There are times in our lives when we don't feel happy. When this happens we can choose to think in a way to add happiness to our day.
Our Bible verse is one I put on the refrigerator when our son Todd died. It reads, "This is the day which the LORD has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24 NASB
We can choose to rejoice and be glad today! Sometimes happiness is a feeling. Sometimes it's a decision.

Get Back Up

The one who falls and gets back up is so much stronger than one who never fell. ~ Inspirational Quotes ~
We all go through difficult times in our lives. We may fall but each time we get back up we grow stronger.
Our Bible verse says, "Even if good people fall seven times, they will get back up. But when trouble strikes the wicked, that's the end of them." Proverbs 24:16 CEV
Even if we fall seven times we can get back up using the Lord's strength. Each time we get back up and move on we grow stronger.

Motivation

I have been blessed to have many people motivate and inspire me. Some people never realized their actions were motivating.
Years ago when I got pregnant I was blessed to have a person tell me I would never be thin again. I was told this after each pregnancy. I say I was blessed because this was just what I needed to take the weight off.
I used to smoke. I was blessed again by someone telling me they were sure I was going to gain a bunch of weight. Guess what? This motivated me to not gain weight.
These are funny ways people can motivate us. But there are many ways people's positive actions in a negative situation can motivate and inspire the people around them.
People who rise above the storms in life and find the sunshine motivate me. They find something good in the situation. They push themselves when they would have every excuse not to.
Today let's be the type of person who motivates and inspires others to be their best. It will not only help them, but it will help us too.

Choose To Move

Choose to move! An inch of movement will bring you closer to your goals than a mile of intention ever will. Choose To Move Quotes
Today a friend and I were texting, She said, "I choose to move." I loved that! I looked those words up under quotes and wouldn't you know there was plenty to be said.
I've met many awesome people at Planet Fitness who choose to move. Some come in on walkers, some in wheelchairs, some bring other people to help them because they are paralyzed from the waist down.
Others have pain pumps surgically in their backs from car accidents.
I met a guy a few years ago who was yellow from alcohol problems now he looks great! He chooses to workout instead of drinking.
I know many who come because they've had drug problems. Amazing to see how great they look now after taking care of themselves.
I know several who had diabetes. Their doctor told them to walk daily and they now have it under control.
There are lots of people with heart/lung issues and have had bypass surgery.
Many people have had knee or hip replacements. The exercise does wonders to help them keep moving.
Some found themselves lying on the couch depressed. They chose to get up and exercise. It improved their moods dramatically!
I have a good friend who comes almost daily because she has bone cancer. She said yesterday that she was the only person who was wearing a hat. I'm very proud of her!
Of course, many come over to lose weight because the doctors have told them to do it or die.
Not everyone has health issues who come to Planet Fitness, but many do. I'm motivated by the people who have serious health issues but they still choose to move.
We all make choices every day. The reason I as well as many others exercise is the quality of life we enjoy every day. We don't do it to live longer, but we want to feel good today.

It's Time To Say Goodbye

It's Time To Say Goodbye by Kay Heitsch
There's a quote that says, "People come into our lives for a reason, season or a lifetime." How true this is.
I've met some people who I thought would be a part of my life for a lifetime that I've had to say "Goodbye" to for various reasons. I thought their relationship with me was for a lifetime when in reality it was only for a season.
Maybe I was to learn something from them or maybe they were to learn something from me, I don't know. But there came a time when it was best to say goodbye.
When it's time to say goodbye I believe it's easier when we understand that people come into our lives for a reason, season or a lifetime. Not everyone is a lifetime person.

Things Change

Crazy how fast things can change. Things Change Quotes
I was sitting at the computer this morning. I sent a text to a friend that it was nice and sunny. The next text I wrote I said it was getting dark and windy. The weather had changed quickly.
It's like that in life too. Many changes happen very fast. One day things are not looking too good. But the next thing we know we see a positive change.
One thing that never changes is God's love for us! Our Bible verses say, ...God is love.1 John 4:8 "I have loved you with an everlasting love;" Jeremiah 31:3 "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." Hebrews 13:8
It is crazy how fast things in life can change. But we can rest assured that God's love for us never changes. God is love! That is who He is! He has loved us with an everlasting love. He is the same yesterday, today and forever.

Always Find Time

Always find time for things that make you feel happy to be alive. ~ Motivational Quotes ~
We can always find time to do what we really want to do. I used to hate exercise so I never had time for it. However, the older I got I found out that exercise helped me feel better both mentally and physically. Now I not only find the time I make time. I call exercise "Health Insurance." And I believe it is too.
Our Bible verse says, "So I concluded there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can." Ecclesiastes 3:12 NLT
We only go around once in this life so let's find time for things that make us feel happy to be alive.

Don't Underestimate Yourself

Don't underestimate yourself by comparing yourself with others. It's our differences that make us unique and beautiful. ~ Life Quotes ~
When we start to compare ourselves with others I believe it stifles our own abilities and we start to underestimate ourselves.
Our Bible verse says, "We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us..." Romans 12:6 NIV
This verse says we have different gifts. Don't underestimate yourself by comparing yourself to others. It's our differences that make us unique and beautiful.

The Power Of One Prayer

by Kay Heitsch
It had been a long day at Cedar Point, an amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio. Ruth Ann and I were there with our church's youth group. We were exhausted as we made our way to the van after the fireworks. However, the day was not over for us. We still had to find our way to the Lakeside campgrounds several miles away.
My sense of direction was not good that night; even though I had lived in Sandusky 15 years before. After missed turns, we stopped and asked for directions several times before we finally found our way to the campgrounds.
When we arrived at Lakeside Ruth Ann said with a sigh of relief, "I'm sure happy we're finally here. But it's so late now I doubt that we'll find a parking place anywhere near the hotel. I'm afraid we'll have to carry our luggage a long way."
I was beyond tired so I said, "I'm going to pray and ask the Lord to give us a close parking spot." Ruth Ann started to laugh and said she wasn't so sure it was proper to ask the Lord for a parking spot. To let Ruth Ann know I was meaning business I said, "I'm not only going to ask for a close spot, I'm going to remind the Lord I can't parallel park so He needs to give me a double space." Ruth Ann really started to laugh now and told me she had never heard of anyone praying like this.
While I was still driving I started to pray out loud, "Lord you know how tired Ruth Ann and I are. We could sure use a nice double parking space in front of the hotel. I don't need to tell You Lord, the trouble I have parking this big van."
I had never been to Lakeside before, but Ruth Ann had. She knew the odds of finding a parking spot anywhere near the hotel was going to be slim to none, especially this late at night. As we turn down the road to where the hotels were located I asked Ruth Ann which hotel was ours. In amazement, she answered, "The one with the double parking space in front." I know it's hard to believe, but it was true. A double parking spot was waiting for us right in front of the hotel.
I started to think back about our trip. Maybe all of our missed turns weren't missed turns at all. Maybe the Lord was making sure we were delayed long enough for Him to show us a sign of His goodwill and favor.
Our family moved to Michigan after this experience. Ruth Ann and I remained close friends until her untimely death. In the last card I received from Ruth Ann she wrote about our parking space experience. Ruth Ann referred to it as "a miracle," and indeed it was. It was also a welcomed answer to one prayer for two weary travelers.

Be Flexible

Be stubborn about your goal, and flexible about your methods.
I've learned a lot listening to people in different situations. I don't know how many times I've heard, "We've never done it like that before." Or "This is not how we do it here." when people suggested another method.
Seriously, there is always more than one way to do something. What method worked well in the past may need to be updated. There may be a better way to do it. We need to be flexible.
Our Bible verse tells us, For everything, there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1 NLT
For everything, there is a season! There may be a better more efficient way to do something. We should be stubborn about our goals, and flexible about our methods.

It's A Trap

When things go wrong, don't go with them. ~ Quotes ~
I believe that sometimes we're set up to get upset. It's a trap! When things go wrong we may at times get consumed by the problem.
Our Bible verse tells us what to do when things go wrong. "I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have oppression, but cheer up. I have overcome the world." John 16:33 NHEB
When things go wrong we don't have to go with them. It may be a set up to get us upset. Keep in mind it's a trap!
When things go wrong let's cheer up and keep our peace!

Be Kind To Your Heart

Be kind to your heart and stop worrying about things that are out of your control. Let go and let God! ~ Quotes ~
I like this phase, "Be kind to your heart!" I believe we can think about this physically and emotionally. When we worry I bet we put a lot of undue pressure on our physical heart. I know we hurt ourselves emotionally when we worry about things that are out of our control.
Our Bible verse says, Worry wears down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up. Proverbs 12:25 Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. 1 Peter 5:7 NLT
We spend a lot of time worrying about things that are out of our control. We need to be kind to our hearts and give all our worries and cares to God because He cares about us.

Share Good Memories

Memories...let them fill your mind and warm your heart. ~ Remember The Good Times Quotes
We went to the NYY/Tiger's game this past week. The guys all had their gloves expecting to have a ball hit our way. Someone in our section actually did catch a ball.
Joe, our son-in-law told about a time he caught a ball. He was at a Red's game in the old Riverfront Stadium. Joel Youngblood hit a foul ball, Mike Scott was pitching for the Astros. A line drive hopper came down the first base line right into his hand. Joe said the whole section cheered and gave him high fives!! Joe remembers it was a glorious experience.
Our Bible verse says, "Remember the days of long ago; think about the generations past. Ask your father, and he will inform you." Deuteronomy 32:7 NLT
When we think about our past let's let those memories fill our minds and warm our heart. Joe shared his memory not only with us, but with his boys too. It was fun for Joe to relive this great memory and for us to hear all about it.

Change The Way You Think

If you don't like something change it. If you can't change it change the way you think about it. Attitude Quotes
There is more than one way to think about something. We can't always change the way things are but we certainly can change the way we think about it.
Of all the Bible verses that have meant a lot to me, this is one of the best. "Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts." Proverbs 4:23 GNT
Our life is shaped by our thoughts. If we want to be happy we may need to think about a situation we don't like in a different way.
If you don't like something change it. If you can't change it change the way you think about it.

Don't Give Up In The Middle

The past is where you learned the lesson. The future is where you apply the lesson. Don't give up in the middle. ~ Quotes ~
I wonder how many people give up in the middle. Right before they're about to get a breakthrough they give up.
Our Bible verse encourages us not to give up. "But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded." 2 Chronicles 15:7 NIV
When we learn from our past and apply the lesson we've learned our work will be rewarded. Let's remember not to give up in the middle.

Life & Coffee

Life is like a cup of coffee...it's about how you make it. ~ Inspiring Quotes
This is a good analogy. If we don't like the way the coffee tastes we can make it a different way. It can be the same way in life. If we don't like the way it's going we can make some changes.
I like this Bible verse. ''You have circled this mountain long enough. Now turn north." Deuteronomy 2:3
If we don't like the way things are going we may have circled the mountain long enough. We're doing the same thing expecting a different result. We may need to turn and go in a different direction. Life is like coffee...it's about how you make it.

Be Strong

"Let go of the thoughts that don't make you strong." Encouraging Quotes
Now, this is some great advice if I ever heard any. If we actually did let go of the thoughts that didn't make us strong we would have an amazing life.
In our instruction book for abundant living, it says "Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts." Proverbs 4:23 GNT "Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise." Philippians 4:8 NLT
If we want to be strong we will need to let go of the thoughts that don't make us strong. We'll need to be careful how we think and fix our thoughts on things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Remember The Lesson

Forget the mistake. Remember the lesson. ~ Life Quotes
How often do we remember the mistake and never think about the lesson to be learned? I know I have many times. I've said to myself, "Why on earth did I act like that, say that, or do that?"
Our Bible verse says, "Be very careful, then, how you live--not as unwise but as wise," Ephesians 5:15 NIV
If we are very careful how we live, we can turn our mistakes into something positive. If we are wise we will forget the mistake and remember the lesson.
