Follow Love

Did you know that Love is a person? It's true. The Bible says in 1 John 4:8 that "God is Love". In 1 Corinthians 14:1, it says, "Follow after Love" When we follow after God we will have peace and know Who to thank when we see a sunrise or a sunset.

Jesus says in our Bible verse, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." John 14:27 NIV

When we know God the Son, Jesus, we can have peace on the inside and not be afraid or troubled. We can also know Who to thank when we see a sunset.

Let's not allow the thief to steal and destroy our lives. Jesus came, He lived, died, and rose again so we may have life and have it abundantly. Let's get living that life!

Turn Up Your Praise

It's interesting how people handle the storms of life. We don't all handle troubles in the same way. I'm learning to turn up my praise and thank the Lord. I am confident that He is working behind the scenes. When I put my trust in Him I stay in peace.

Our Bible verse tells us how we should start our prayers, "Enter His gates with thanksgiving; go into His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and praise His name. Psalm 100:4 NLT

Now is the time to give thanks and praise the LORD. Amazing things happened in troubled times when the people sang and praised. Read Acts 16:25-26, 2 Chronicles 20:20-24 These people learned how to sail their ships in troubled times.

I am not afraid of storms for I am learning how to sail my ship.

Keep Your Eyes Focused

Now, this is good news! When we keep our focus towards Jesus our troubles will fall behind us.

Today's Bible verse says, "Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to end." Hebrews 12:2 GNT

Keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus will keep our faith stronger than your fears. This was the first verse I wrote in the front of my Bible many years ago.

Reconnect

I've thought about people who have had an impact on my life. We all have taken different paths, but even still, I've taken their influence everywhere I've gone.

During this time of Shelter In Place, I've called people on the phone. I've reconnected with people who I haven't talked to in a long time. Some have done the same to me. I think this is a great time to reconnect.

Today's Bible verse says, "A man that has friends must show himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother." Proverbs 18:24 AKJV

One way to show yourself friendly is to reconnect with other people. But don't forget to stay connected to the one true friend who sticks closer than a brother.

Radiate Love

When we are a source of strength and courage we are allowing our Father's love to shine through us.

When we are a source of strength and courage and radiate love we are letting our light shine. When we do, others see it and praise our Father in heaven.

It's Good To Laugh

We all need exercise. But I guess I'd never thought about laughing as running inside of your mind. I had heard that laughing was internal jogging. It actually moves your internal organs around and enhances respiration.

Our Bible verse says, "A cheerful heart is a good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength." Proverbs 17:22 NLT

A cheerful heart is a good medicine. If we are gloomy all the time we all know that saps our strength. Laughter may not add years to your life but it will surely add life to your years.

Laughing is one of the best exercises, it's like running inside of our mind.

One Day Closer

We are visitors to this time, this place. We are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, and to love, and then we return Home.

Today we are one day closer to going Home. This world is not our home. We are only passing through.

For many years I imagined Todd walking through the same door he left from. It was hard for me to move from that house. I wanted Todd to come back home to me.

When I turned 70 I had another thought. Todd was waiting for me to come Home. I had never thought like that before.

When I pondered this for a while I imagined Todd's smiling face when I came Home. I was also hoping Todd would be proud of the way I had lived my life after he left. I wanted him to say, "Good job Mom!" But better yet I wanted Jesus to say, "Well done, good and faithful servant!" Matthew 25:23

We are one day closer to going Home. We are visitors here on earth. We are just passing through.

Miraculous In The Common

Let's use wisdom and look for things that are excellent and worthy of praise. I believe when we do this we will see the miraculous in the common.

If Not Now...When?

If you are already an encourager, let's step it up! We need kindness and encouragement now.

Stronger

If we focus on our troubles we will feel down. If we want to grow stronger through the problems we need to focus on the good that's coming out of them.

This is a verse I say often to myself to keep the right focus. "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them." Romans 8:28 NLT

This does not say that everything is good. We all know everything is not good! However, God can cause everything to work together for good and to make us stronger. Let's focus on the good that God is going to bring out of our troubles.

Our troubles were never meant to break us down, but to make us stronger.

Succession Of Life

When we look back on our lives I believe we can all agree that we learned so much by actually going through something. I know I have. Every experience is meant to teach us something.

Our Bible verses say, "Good people suffer many troubles, but the LORD saves them from them all." Psalm 34:19 For though a righteous man may fall seven times, he still gets up; but the wicked stumble in bad times. Proverbs 24:16

Good people go through troubles too. But they get back up! They learn from the experience. However, some people do not learn anything sad to say.

Life is a succession of lessons which must be lived to be understood.

Time To Grow

We are all going through a tough time right now. It may seem like we're pushing through a lot of dirt. However, now is the time to grow. We are not alone!

Our Bible verse says, "When you pass through deep waters, I will be with you; your troubles will not overwhelm you. When you pass through fire, you will not be burned; the hard trials that come will not hurt you." Isaiah 43:2 GNT

We are passing through this time. Our troubles do not need to overwhelm us. We have the good Lord with us, so don't forget it.

It's Your Choice

Every day we have many opportunities to pass the tests in life. We can live upset and become bitter and play the victim. Or we can choose to keep a good attitude, learn, become better and be the victor.

Our choices not only affect us they have an impact on our children as well. This verse tells us to choose life.

Every test in life makes us bitter or better. The choice is yours to be the victim or the victor.

Hold On And Have Faith

Times are tough right now. What can we do? We can pray and have faith that things will get better. We can also pray to relax and rely on God's strength to hold on until it does.

God is our refuge and our strength. He is always ready to help us in times of trouble. Be strong in His strength and know that He will work things out for our good.

You can't control everything. Sometimes you just need to relax and have faith that things will work out.

It doesn't matter whatever situation we are in we can be content if we rely on Christ who gives us the strength.

Antifragility

This should be the word for our lives in every situation we encounter. When we have the good Lord with us He can and will make everything work out for our good.

When we absolutely know that God will cause everything to work together for good we will be antifragility type people.

One Day At A Time

We sure do not know what the future holds, that's life. We aren't here on earth for very long compared to eternity. We are only like a "puff of smoke".

Two-Way Conversation

Today is World Day Of Prayer. It's important to pray every day but today has been set aside to remind us to pray for our world.

We are going through a difficult time in our world right now. Since we are I want to remind you Who is with us.

Our Bible verse is one most people know. "Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for You are with me." Psalm 23:4 NIV

Even though we are walking through this troubled time we do not need to fear any evil because God is with us. He is our strength and present help in times of trouble.

Prayer is simply a two-way conversation between you and God.

The Power To Have Peace

One of the best ways to activate our joy is to control the way we respond when trouble strikes.

"Cheer up?" Most people don't automatically respond by cheering up when trouble comes. We can't have peace on the inside if we don't control the way we respond to trouble.

If you are a Christian you have everything you need to respond in the right way when trouble strikes. You have the fruit of the Spirit on the inside. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Activate these gifts.

When you can't control what's happening...control the way you respond to what's happening.

Hidden Treasures

God has given us hidden treasures in each day. When we find these treasures we will know it is the Lord who is helping us to see them.

Once I learned that Jesus came to give me an abundant life I wasn't going to allow the thief to steal any more of my days.

We can be grieved about a lot of things. But when we realize that the joy of the LORD is our strength we will refuse to give up our joy, strength, and power.

The LORD will teach us His ways, When we learn from Him we will live right side up.

Fear

We've all had to deal with the feeling of fear in our lives. The side effects of fear come in many different ways. For me personally, I've experienced, uncontrollable shaking, sweating, heart racing and stomach issues.

However, there came a day when my fear got so bad I had all of these side effects at once plus I started to have a horrible nose bleed. It was this day that changed my life forever.

As I was standing with my head in the sink, watching the blood dripping, these words came softly to my mind. "Kay, I did not give you this spirit of fear! I've given you power, love, and a sound mind." I was stunned. I felt right away this thought must be coming from the LORD.

At that time I hadn't read the Bible much so I didn't even know these words were in the Bible. You can imagine my surprise when I stumbled on almost the exact words in 2 Timothy 1:7 many months later.

Fear is something we all have to deal with. When we realize how much we are loved by God we do not have to allow fear to hinder us from doing whatever we need to do.

Your Future

Did you know that "Fear not" is mentioned 365 times in the Bible? This tells me that fear is something people have to deal with all the time.

I have repeated the following Bible verse to myself many times when I feel fear. "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." 2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV

There are many things that we can be fearful of. However, we should not let fear decide our futures when God has given us power, love and a sound mind.

Never let fear decide your future.

Stand Up And Stand Out

A lot of people are afraid to stand up and stand out because of what people might say. They expect people to understand but some people won't. In order to do anything of importance we have to have the courage to stand up and stand out!

It doesn't matter if people understand or not. When we know that God is with us we have the courage to stand up and stand out.

Courage does not mean you don't get afraid. Courage means you don't let fear stop you.

Stronger Than Your Fears

Yes, I don't know about you, but I'm going to keep this verse in my mind. I will trust the LORD and let my faith be stronger than my fears.

Life Is Full Of Surprises

I chose this quote today because this is our grandson Eli's birthday. To say Eli's arrival was a surprise would be an understatement. Eli was actually born at home!

Our son-in-law, Joe, had just taken Noah to daycare. When he walked back into the house much to his surprise Eli had already been born! Joe called 911 and the fire department and 2 ambulances showed up.

Our Bible verse says, "This is the day which the LORD has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24 NASB

We are rejoicing in this day! We are thankful that the Lord brought our precious Eli into our lives. He has changed our lives forever.

Life Is Too Short

True! Not everyone is going to understand or like you. That's fine and dandy because life is too short to get distracted by what other people think or say about you.

Our Bible verse is an eye-opener. "Then Saul admitted to Samuel, “Yes, I have sinned. I have disobeyed your instructions and the LORD’s command, for I was afraid of the people and did what they demanded." 1 Samuel 15:24 NLT

Saul knew what he was supposed to do! However, he was too worried about what the people would think and say about him. You can read the rest of the story and find out how that worked out for him.
