Small Steps

Small steps in the right direction can turn out to be the biggest step of your life. ~ Life Quotes ~
Every small step in the right direction counts. Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can. Big changes start with small steps.
Our Bible verse says, "They would do the right thing and because they did, they would grow stronger." Job 17:9 CEV
When we do the right thing and take a small step in the right direction we will grow stronger.
Small steps in the right direction can turn out to be the biggest step of your life.

Everything You Need

You have within you right now, everything you need to deal with whatever the world can throw at you. ~ Motivational Quotes ~
I read this quote today and I wondered if there was a Bible verse to back this up. I felt there must be because I've felt this way ever since I became a Christian. Sure enough, there was.
Today's Bible verse says, "We have everything we need to live a life that pleases God. It was all given to us by God's own power when we learned He had invited us to share in His wonderful goodness." 2 Peter 1:3 CEV
There ya go...we have everything we need to live a life that pleases God. We have His power working in us!
You have within you right now, everything you need to deal with whatever the world can throw at you.

I Refuse

Today I refuse to stress myself out about things I cannot control or change. ~ Great Change Quotes ~
Sometimes we don't want to believe we have any control over how we feel about things we can't control or change, but we actually do.
Our Bible verse says, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." John 14:27 NIV
Jesus left us His peace. He says, "Do not let your hearts be troubled..." So this tells me I can, with His help, stop stressing myself about things I cannot control or change.

Living Your Best Life

Find joy in ordinary things. ~ Living Your Best Life Quotes ~
If we want to live our best life we need to find joy in ordinary things. In order to do this, we need to look for it. When we take time to look around we will see all kinds of things that can bring us joy.
Our Bible verse says, "The thief comes only to kill, steal, and destroy. I came that you may have and enjoy life and have it abundantly." John 10:10 ESV
Don't allow the thief to kill, steal, and destroy your life. Jesus came that we may have and enjoy life and have it abundantly.
To have this abundant life we need to find joy in ordinary things.
Find joy in ordinary things to live your best life.

What If

What if you met the person you could have become on your last day on earth. ~ You Don't Know What Tomorrow Will Bring Quotes ~
I've been asked what my prayer request was that I put in the Western Wall in Jerusalem. My prayer request was that I would be the person I was created to be and do the work I was created to do. I included all the members of my family.
Our Bible verse says, "For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago." Ephesians 2:10 NLT
There you go. God has good things for each of us to do. God's plans are to give us a future and hope (see Jeremiah 29:11). What I really love is "God gives ability to everyone for their particular service." (see 1 Corinthians 12:6 TEV)
God has good things for each of us to do, His plans are to give us a future and a hope. But best of all is that He will give us the ability to do whatever our particular service is.
What if you met the person you could have become on your last day on earth.

Shift Your Focus

Faith is praising God in the storm. Praising shifts our focus from the problem to the Problem Solver. ~ Praise In The Storm Quotes ~
When we shift our focus from worry to praise we will feel better and we will see things differently. I can honestly say this because I've had to put it into practice many times.
Today's Bible verses say, "I will praise the LORD at all times. I will constantly speak His praises. Let all who are discouraged take heart. Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt His name together!" Psalm 34:1,2,3.
When we are discouraged and in the storm, we should praise the LORD. I like how this verse says, "Oh magnify the LORD." When we magnify the LORD we are shifting our focus.
Faith is praising God in the storm. Praising shifts our focus from the problem to the Problem Solver.

Be Careful How You Think

What holds you back is not what you are. But what you think you are. ~ Inspiring Quotes ~
What's holding you back? Have you ever thought about that? There are many things people can do when they put their minds to it.
Here's one of my very favorite Bible verses. "Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts." Proverbs 4:23 GNB
We need to be very careful how we think. When we realize our lives are shaped by our thoughts I think we'll be more careful.
What holds you back is not what you are. But what you think you are.

Down But Not Out

You may be knocked down but you're not knocked out. Your strength will grow as you get back up. ~ Down But Not Out Quotes ~
I was watching a tennis match. The player was down and it looked like it was over. However, he may have been down but he wasn't out! Much to my surprise he got back up, found new strength, and won!
Our Bible verse says, "Even if good people fall seven times, they will get back up... " Proverbs 24:16 CEV
Some people will get back up and keep trying no matter how many times they are knocked down. They may be knocked down but they are not knocked out!
You may be knocked down but you're not knocked out. Your strength will gown as you get back up.

Simple Faith

Faith is the light that guides you through the darkness. ~ Faith Quotes ~
I don't know where I'd be if I didn't have my simple faith. There have been many times when I didn't know where to go or how things would turn out.
Today's Bible verse says, "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them." Romans 8:28 NLT
I do believe that God does cause everything to work together for good. Using simple faith which is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. (Hebrews 11:1) is the light that will help us to relax when we are in the dark about something.
Faith is the light that guides you through the darkness.

Love Is The Royal Law

Did you know that there is a Royal Law in the Bible?
Today's Bible verses explain this Royal Law well. So speak and so act as those who are to be judged under the Law of Liberty. If you really fulfill the Royal Law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well. James 2: 2:12 & 2:8. ESV
If we love our neighbor as ourselves we will be living by the Royal Law. When we are kind and show love to others and to ourselves we are living a life of liberty and love.
Love is the Royal Law of liberty.

Faith Or Fear

Faith Or Fear by Kay Heitsch
Feed your faith and your fears will starve to death. ~ Faith Quotes ~
When we worry and stress over things we are feeding our fears. The more we think about them the larger they get. However, when we feed our faith our fears starve to death.
We may not know how things are going to turn out but when we know this Bible verse we can feed our faith. "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28 NIV
This is so true. When we know that God works out all things for good we can relax and stop feeding our fears.
Feed your faith and your fears will starve to death.

Communication

The most important thing in communication is hearing what isn't said. ~ Communication Quotes ~
People communicate in many different ways. We do not always need to use words. This is true in our spiritual lives as well.
Sometimes in prayer, we don't know what to say. We may be heartbroken over something or we just don't know what we should be praying for.
Our Bible verse says, "In the same way, the Spirit also comes to help us, weak as we are. For we do not know how we ought to pray; the Spirit Himself pleads with God for us in groans that words cannot express." Romans 8:26 GNT
It's great to know that even when we can't put something into words the Spirit prays for us. He hears what isn't said.
The most important thing in communication is hearing what isn't said.

Hearing Verses Listening

The difference between hearing and listening is paying attention. ~ Listening Quotes ~
Hearing is one of our 5 senses. Listening is an art. If we want to learn anything we need to listen and not just hear.
Our Bible verse says, "If you listen to advice and are willing to learn, one day you will be wise." Proverbs 19:20 GNT
We hear a lot of things but are we really listening to learn anything? If we want to be wise we need to learn the art of listening.
The difference between hearing and listening is paying attention.

Life Is Not A Competition

Life is not a competition. Each one is on their own journey. ~ Life's Journey Quotes ~
We are all on our own life's journey. We don't have the same things to do. Each person has been given a special gift to give.
Many years ago my friend Eugena gave me this Bible verse. I've kept this verse in my mind and when I feel discouraged I say it to myself.  "And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ." Philippians 1:6 ESV
I didn't start a good work in myself. God did! This gives me hope that since He started it He will complete it! I'm not in competition with anyone.
Life is not a competition. Each one is on their own journey.

Hope

Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all the darkness. ~ Hope Quotes ~
Hope is a wonderful thing. People who have lost hope live a very sad and unhappy life. When we have hope despite going through difficult times we can still be joyful in our believing.
This Bible verse became a favorite of mine many years ago. "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope." Romans 15:13 ESV
See what hope can do? God is a God of hope! He will fill us with all joy and peace in believing. What an awesome way to live.
Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all the darkness.

Life Is Unpredictable

Life is a circle of happiness, sadness, hard times, and good times. Life is unpredictable. Be grateful for every day. ~ Quotes ~
If you are going through a hard time have faith that good times are on the way. It may be dark right now but the sun will soon be shining again.
Our Bible verse says, "For everything, there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven." Ecclesiastes 3:1
There is a season for everything and a time for happiness, sadness, hard times and good times! Never lose hope.
Life is a circle of happiness, sadness, hard times, and good times. Life is unpredictable. Be grateful for every day.

Do You Know Why?

I can not tell you the shock I felt when my husband Bill told me he was thinking about driving an 18 wheeler across the country. For all of our married life, Bill had worn a suit or a sport coat with a shirt and tie to work. Bill even had training in the Twin Towers in New York City.
My first response to this truck driving excursion was, "You don't even know how to drive a truck!" Bill's response was, "I know, I'm going to go to truck driving school." I thought he had lost his mind but after being married for over 40 years I had learned to go with the flow.
After Bill finished truck driving school he asked if I wanted to take a road trip with him. At first, I was hesitant but then I thought, "Why not!" When I climbed into this big semi I had no idea what this trip would hold. I brought along some yarn and knitting needles for something to do. I started to knit little cell phone sacks where I place a Bible verse. I gave these away to several people along the trip.
I saw very few women traveling with their husbands. However, one night we were sitting in the truck watching what I called "the dance" as truckers were maneuvering to park when I noticed a woman walk by with a man that I presumed was her husband. I don't know why but I told Bill I was going to go in and try to find this lady and give her one of the little cell phone sacks.
I jumped out of the truck and walked into the truck stop. I looked all around but I didn't see her so I looked in the bathroom; there she was brushing her teeth.
I have never had too much trouble talking with strangers so I just started to talk to her. I don't know exactly what I said but I must have mentioned I was traveling with my husband. At first, she was quiet then asked, "Do you know why I started to ride with my husband?" Of course, I didn't, so I asked why. She went on to tell me how her teenage son had died in a motorcycle accident in 1988 and she didn't like to stay home alone.
I could hardly believe it! I shared with her that my teenage son Todd had also died in a car accident in 1988. We both stood in silence for a few seconds. Wow, now we found out we had something else in common. I quickly introduced myself and she did the same.
Mary expressed that she had not been able to talk to anyone about her son's death because she felt that no one would understand. I let her know she was free to tell me anything she felt comfortable with. With tears in her eyes, Mary began to tell me her story. After she shared about the day of her son's tragic death we were both crying. We gave each other an understanding hug knowing the pain we both had experienced.
Suddenly we realized we had been talking for some time. Mary expressed that her husband would be wondering what happened to her. When we opened the bathroom door there was Mary's husband patiently waiting.
Mary still had tears in her eyes as she told her husband about our conversation. She expressed to him how grateful she was that after all these years God had brought someone she could talk to who would understand.
You know, at first, I didn't know why I wanted to find this stranger and give her a cell phone sack, but I do know now. There is always a reason we meet new people. I truly believe God arranged our meeting so Mary could share her story with another mother who understood the pain of losing her child.

Always Believe

Always believe that you can make a difference. Even the smallest act of kindness can change someone's entire day. ~ Quotes ~
There are a lot of things we should believe. We should believe that God is good. We should believe that God can bring good out of any situation. We should believe that nothing is impossible with God. But we should also believe that we can make a difference with God's help.
Our Bible verse says, "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." Philippians 4:13 BSB
We always should believe that we can make a difference through Christ who gives us His strength.
Always believe that you can make a difference. Even the smallest act of kindness can change someone's entire day.

I'm Still Here

I've been through the good the bad and the ugly. But I'm still here and I press on. ~ I'm Still Here Quotes
There have been times when I wasn't sure I would make it, but I did! I'm sure you can say the same thing. Life can be good, bad, and ugly! We don't know how we will ever make it, but with God's help, we will!
Our Bible verse says, No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on... Philippians 3:13 NLT
While we are still here we need to look forward to the future and keep pressing on!
I've been through the good the bad and the ugly. But I'm still here and I press on.

Invisible To The Eye

Sometimes the heart sees what is invisible to the eye. ~Life Quotes ~
There have been times in my life where I can see something in my heart that has been invisible to my eyes.
Our Bible verse says, "I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people," Ephesians 1:18 NIV
When the eyes of our hearts are enlightened we can see what we are called to do.
Sometimes the heart sees what is invisible to the eye.

Storms

Even after the worst storms, the sun will shine again. ~ Quotes ~
Today the weather people have predicted we are supposed to have a storm that we will be talking about for years to come.
Every one of us has gone through storms in our lives. Some have been predicted but others come unannounced. Our storms may be weather-related or our worst ones are personal storms, the death of a loved one, financial problems, health issues, etc.
Our Bible verse says, And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
We know even after our worst storms the sun will shine again because God will work all things out for good.
Even after the worst storms, the sun will shine again.

Unique And Beautiful

Do not compare yourself to others. It's our differences that make us unique and beautiful. ~ Motivational Quotes ~
Very often people compare themselves to others. If I only had what they have I would be better. If I only looked like they do then I would be happy with myself. The list goes on and on. Each person is unique and beautiful in their own way.
Our Bible verse says, "Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it." Psalm 139:14 NLT
We will thank God when we believe we are wonderfully complex and marvelous. We won't feel a need to compare ourselves to others.
Do not compare yourself to others. It's our differences that make us unique and beautiful.

Make The First Move And Smile

Let us always make the first move and greet people with a smile.
There are a lot of people who are afraid to make the first move and smile. When we take the time to smile at people it helps them to feel comfortable around us.
I am usually the person who smiles at everyone. I especially do this at Planet Fitness. I understand how a person might feel coming into a situation they are not comfortable with. What I love to see is when people who I have smiled at come back again and they immediately smile at me and say, "Hi".
Our Bible verse says, "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." Ephesians 4:32
When we make the first move and smile at people we are being kind and compassionate.
Let us always make the first move and greet people with a smile.

Listening

Be careful how you talk to yourself because you are listening. ~ Listen Quotes
They say we believe more about what we say to ourselves than what other people say about us. This being the case it's very important to talk to ourselves in a positive way.
Years ago I would tell myself, "I hate to exercise!" and so I never did. There came a time I was challenged to run a race. Now I had to change my way of thinking and I started to talk to myself differently. I started to say, "I enjoy exercise and I do it every day." As I changed the way I was talking to myself it changed my way of living.
Our Bible verse has become one of my favorites. "Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts." Proverbs 4:23 GNT
Be careful how you talk to yourself because you are listening.

Inhabit Your Moments

Live today. Not yesterday. Not tomorrow. Just today. Inhabit your moments. Don't rent them out to tomorrow. ~ Jerry Spinelli ~
Since we are not guaranteed tomorrow I don't know why we spend so much time thinking about it. We spend a lot of time thinking about our past as well. In reality, all we have is this moment in time.
Our Bible verse says, "Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes." James 4:14 NIV
We sure do not know what will happen tomorrow. It's time to inhabit our moments and live for today.
Live today. Not yesterday. Not tomorrow. Just today. Inhabit your moments. Don't rent them out to tomorrow.

Or Not

You Have Options. You can go for it. You can go the extra mile. Or Not! ~ Inspirational Quotes
We all have options. It's not hard to start something. But at times it is hard to not give up and to go the extra mile to succeed.
Our Bible verse says, "No matter how much a lazy person may want something, he will never get it. A hard worker will get everything he wants." Proverbs 13:4 GNT
The person who is a hard worker will go the extra mile. However, a lazy person may want something but they will give up when the going gets tough. They have wishbone but no backbone.
You Have Options. You can go for it. You can go the extra mile. Or Not!

God Helps Us

God doesn't give us what we can handle, He helps us handle what we have been given. ~ Encouraging Quotes ~
There are many times we are our own worst enemy. We allow our emotions to overpower our intelligence. Our bad attitude can keep us from moving forward. We blame God, not realizing it's God who can help us handle all that life brings.
Our Bible verse says, "So we can say with confidence, “The LORD is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?” Hebrews 13:6 NLT
We can be confident that the LORD is our helper. Circumstance nor people can stand in our way. We don't need to allow our emotions to overpower our intelligence. Let's not be our own worst enemy with a bad attitude.
God doesn't give us what we can handle. He helps us handle what we have been given.

Step Out And Find Out

Never let your fear decide your future. ~ Inspirational Quotes ~
What would you try if you knew you could not fail? That's a good question we can all ask ourselves.
Our Bible verse says, "Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand." Isaiah 41:10 NLT
We don't need to be afraid to try something new. We can step out and find out. God will give us His strength and help us.
Never let your fear decide your future.

Your Time Is Valuable

Don't waste your valuable time. Do now what you'll be happy with later on. Don't live with regret~ Quotes
We all have 24 hours in a day. Some people use those hours and are very productive while others waste their days away and regret it later on.
Our Bible verse says, "Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom." Psalm 90:12 NIV
When we think about how short our life really is we won't waste our valuable time. Let's not live with regret.
Don't waste your valuable time. Do now what you'll be happy with later on. Don't live with regret.

You Have A Purpose

The purpose of life is to live a life of purpose. ~ You Have A Purpose Quotes ~
We are not born into this life by chance. We were born for a purpose. God has a plan and a purpose for your life.
Don't let your past poison your future. You can be pitiful or powerful but you can't be both.
Our Bible verse says, "For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11 NLT
God does have a great plan for our lives. His plan will give us hope for our future.
The purpose of life is to live a life of purpose.
