We are all different. We have different abilities. I can enjoy my life more when I support what other people can do. Supporting them will not dampen what I can do.

I can sing to some degree, but I enjoy listening to others who do a much better job than I can. I can enjoy my life without comparing my inability to sing as well as another. I support their success and enjoy their ability.

Our Bible verse today says,"Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won't need to compare yourself to anyone else." Galatians 6:4 NLT

We will enjoy our own life more if we don't compare it with someone else's life. We can support their success knowing it won't dampen ours.

The Power Of Words

I think we take the power of words for granted. When someone says something that hurts us deeply we feel the power of their words. When someone says something kind and encouraging to us we also feel the power those words bring.

There are many Bible verses about the power of words. It starts with, "And God said, "Let there be light; and there was light!" Genesis 1:3. Now that's some powerful words.

Words are containers for power. When we think about that we will use our words wisely. When we use our words wisely, we may find that our kind words just might change someone's entire day.

In The Blink Of An Eye

How many times have you heard someone say or maybe you've said it yourself, "Where has time gone? It seems like only yesterday..."

I absolutely love this Bible verse. "This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24

Life does seem to go by in the blink of an eye. We need to stop and appreciate the moments.

Why Worry?

Years ago I was addicted to worry. I worried about everything. It messed with my happiness and started to affect my physical health as well.

I would have a big worry day. It wasn't long after that I would have severe stomach pain. Finally, a light bulb went off. Is this worry really worth this pain? I thought I couldn't stop. But I found out I could and did!

One week at church the minister asked if there was anything people wanted to give up. It didn't take me too long to know I wanted to give up worry. I told the Lord this was my prayer.

Every time a worry thought came to my mind I'd say, "I trust you Lord." I refused to allow the worry thought any space in my thinking.

This Bible verse has helped me. "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done" Philippians 4:6 NLT

I can honestly say I worry very little now. I won't say some worry thoughts don't try to creep in my mind, but now I trust the Lord with my worry thoughts.

I know that "Worrying is a waste of time. It doesn't change anything. It just messes with your mind and steals your happiness."

Encouraging Words

For some odd reason the old song, "Home, Home, On The Range" came to my mind when I posted this quote. Here are some of the words. "Where seldom is heard a discouraging word and the sky are not cloudy all day."

It's not only important to say encouraging words, but it's also important to not say discouraging words.

Today's Bible text, "Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them." Ephesians 4:29 NLT   What a great way to live!

We also need to be generous with encouraging words to ourselves. Be generous with your encouraging words. You may find they will inspire others and yourself as well to be the best that we can be.

Feed Your Faith

I think sometimes we feed our fears more than we do our faith. When things don't happen as quickly as we think they should we start to feed our fears. It goes something like this, "What if..."

Faith in God includes faith in His timing. The Bible says, "My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts," says the LORD. "And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine." Isaiah 55:8 NLT

God's ways are above our ways. We can save ourselves a lot of stress by feeding our faith. When we do, our fears will starve to death. When we come to the edge know that faith will teach you to fly!

Precious Memories

I've been looking through lots of pictures on my mother's side of the family and posting them in a private group. Wow, it's been amazing to look back at all the memories.

The best part about pictures is that even when the people in the picture change, the memory it contains never will. At the time we didn't realize we were making memories. We just thought we were having fun.

I take a lot of pictures.  I like to capture the good times. When the picture doesn't turn out I can take another shot.

I hadn't really thought about life being like a camera and focusing on what's really important. Sometimes we focus on things that will end up in a junk yard or on some yard sale table.

How many times have we thought, "I'll never forget that smile!" I know I have on several occasions. A smile is one of the little things in life.

I was showing pictures to our grandsons on my phone over the weekend. We looked at many. However, the picture Eli remarked about the most was seeing Noah's happy face and his smile in one of them.

Yes, a smile is a little thing in life. I'm sure everyone can remember a time that you'll never forget the smile on someone's face.

Focus On Love

I believe we could save ourselves a lot of stress if our focus was on love.

The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 13, Love is patient and kind. Just acting patient and kind would change a lot!

Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude! Oh my, how life would change if these things were taken out!

Love does not demand it's own way! Is not irritable! Plus, it keeps no record of wrongs. Can we even imagine how different life would be if we lived like this. 

Love does not rejoice about injustice! But is happy when truth wins! Yay for truth!

Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance! Now that's being positive!

Wow, life would be so much brighter if we focused on love!

Couldn't Care..

We live in a world full of people who have an attitude that they couldn't care less. What a difference it would make in our world if we changed that attitude and cared more instead of less.

Our Bible verse today says, "Don't look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too." Philippians 2:4

If we took this Bible verse to heart we would not only look out for our own interests, but we would be someone who couldn't care more about others as well.

Listening

This week I learned something new about listening. Listening is great for the brain! Who knew!

I don't mean listening to people talking, or listening to the TV or music. What I read that helps the brain is going outside in nature and being quiet and listening.

If you think this is easy, just try it. What I found was keeping my thoughts quiet kept interfering with just listening.

The article also stated that you can also help the brain by adding smelling and looking closely at details to listening.

It's true, the quieter you become the more you hear. There is so much we can learn when we listen. Who knew listening is also great for the brain.

SMILE

It's interesting that what we are looking for, we usually see. If we're looking for the negatives in life, they're there. But if we look for the positives and miracles in life, they are there too.

Our Bible verse says a "cheerful look" which I see as a smile, "brings joy to the heart." (see Proverbs 15:30)

If we will look for the miracles in life I'm sure they will put a SMILE on our face.

Be Nice To Yourself

We need to invest in ourselves or we may miss the important things in life. We don't need to compare ourselves to others. We are all good at some things that others are not.

Our Bible verse says, "So be careful how you live. Don't live like fools, but like those who are wise." Ephesians 5:15 NLT I also like how it says Jesus came to give us an abundant life. (See John 10:10)

If we are wise we will be careful how we live. We will be nice to ourselves so we won't have overload and miss the important things in life.

The present moment is filled with joy and happiness. If you are attentive, you will see it. Be nice to yourself. Today choose joy!

Serenity

Stress is a major problem in our world today. We all can stay pretty calm and peaceful when everything is going our way. However, when a storm is brewing we can get pretty upset. Maybe not you, but I do at times.  

I thought it was really interesting how Jesus handled stress. "He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word."(see Isaiah 53:7) When He was in the garden Jesus said to the disciples, "I will not say much more to you...(see John 14:30.)

It is very hard to keep quiet when we are under stress, but according to these verses one way to do it is to shut up! :D

We live in a stressful world. A lot may be going on around us, but it doesn't need to get inside of us. We will have storms in life, but we can also have serenity and peace amid the storms.

Make The Most Of Today

This is quite the thought! Actually thinking that we have never lived this day before and will never live it again is an eye opener. I believe when we think about this we will want to make the most out of it.

None of us are guaranteed tomorrow. We can make a choice to improve our day by making the most out of it. Like the Bible verse says, Let us rejoice and be glad in it!

The Value Of Peace

What value do we place on having peace in our life?

Today's Bible verse is an attention getter, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." John 14:27

The last part of this verse always stands out to me, "Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

Looks like we have a part to play in keeping stress out of our lives and holding on to peace. We have to stop allowing ourselves to be upset.

If we value peace we need to realize that our circumstance and world conditions may not change. But we can change the way we look at them and "let not" our hearts be trouble and afraid.

Count Your Blessings

It's interesting what all people count. I'm sure you can think of several things. I smiled at a quote that talked about counting blessings, instead of calories.

We are all blessed. If we took the time to count all the things we are blessed with we would see how rich we really are.

Why Aren't You Like Me?

How true this is! We are all different and unique! Even if we are related to someone we have different percentages of DNA and fingerprints.

Today's Bible verse, "Don't judge, so that you won't be judged. Matthew 7:1 We don't think, know, believe, or act alike.

Why aren't you like me? Well, you are not suppose to be! You have your own special DNA and fingerprints, We were all made different on purpose. When we keep this in mind it will go a long way in getting along with people.

Memories

Yesterday I posted several pictures in our private family fb group. It was fun walking down memory lane. I ran into many family members who have long been gone.

One thing about pictures is they captured moments that are gone, but we still have them to remember those special times.

Bill's Grandma Z would always say, "Make good memories." Our most treasured heirlooms are the memories that we make with our families.

Memories are timeless treasures of the heart. Philippians 1:3 NIV says, "I thank my God every time I remember you."

Free To Choose

This year Planet Fitness has "Be Free" on their shirts. These shirts are free to new members.

We all want to "Be Free." I like this quote. "We are free to choose, but we are not free from the consequence of our choice."

We are given free will by God. It's up to us to choose how we will use it. Whether we use it in a positive or negative way we are not free from the consequences of our choice.

The Bible verse today says, I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live. (see Deuteronomy 30:19 NIV)

Our choices not only effect us, but as this Bible verse states they effect our children as well.

We are free to choose, but we are not free from the consequences of our choices.

Anyone Watching?

This quote says to do the right thing when no one is watching. This is a great idea! Sometimes we may think no one is watching when actually they are.

When we have wisdom we know the right thing to do. When we have integrity we will do it!

Our Bible verses tell us that "Integrity guides" and that our children are blessed when we walk in integrity. (see Proverbs 11:3 & 20:7)

Anyone watching? Looks like our children are watching when we walk in integrity and they will be blessed by a good example. Even if no one is watching wisdom guilds and integrity will help us do the right thing.

Feelings Are Fickle

Feeling are fickle. One day we feel like doing something, the next day we don't. Sometimes we have to stop allowing our feelings to vote.

Feelings come and feelings go. We may not be able to choose how we feel, but we can choose what we do. It can be a battle at times to do what's right no matter how we feel.

I like the idea of not feeding some feelings. What we don't feed dies. We can do what we know will be of benefit to us and stop asking ourselves how we feel about it.

Today's Bible verse, "Do what is right and good in the LORD's sight, so all will go well with you. Then you will enter and occupy the good land that the LORD swore to give your ancestors." Deuteronomy 6:18 NLT

Sometimes the land we need to occupy are areas in our lives that we haven't taken control over. We may need to stop allowing our fickle feelings to vote and choose to do the right thing, even if it is a battle.

A Happy Heart

Today I read that the first words you should speak in the morning are, "Thank You!" What a way to start the day! If we actually thought about all we have to be thankful for we would be happy!

Today's Bible verse, Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. 1 Chronicles 16:34 NIV is repeated all over the Bible. We don't need to wonder why.

Our quote today tells us why these words, "Give thanks" are repeated. It's because people who are thankful are happy people. A thankful heart is a happy heart.

Be The Sunshine

Laughter The Best Medicine

It's true life is better when you're laughing. I took my laughter medicine yesterday when I went shopping with my husband, Bill. I can't remember when I laughed so much.

Bill has been the same size for years. I won't say he doesn't watch what he eats, because he does, but he really has never had a weight problem.

Yesterday Bill had to change sizes. The looks on his face and the comments he made had tears rolling down my face. There were times when I knew I shouldn't laugh, but burst out laughing anyway.

They say a day without laughter is wasted. I sure didn't waste yesterday. Life is better when you're laughing. Plus, according to Proverbs 17:22 it's good medicine too!

Enthusiasm

Yesterday was the award's day at our grandson's elementary school. Noah sat patiently waiting for his name to be called. When his name was called he jumped out of his chair and ran with enthusiasm up front to receive his award.

When I saw the video our daughter sent I smiled as I read our son's words. "That's enthusiasm. Way to go Noah!" This video sure was a picture of enthusiasm! I felt enthusiastic just seeing Noah's smiling face as he ran forward to receive his award.

Enthusiasm is contagious. Let's be a carrier today!

Fix Your Focus

Focus on your blessings! When we focus our attention on the positive things in life we feel encouraged. Sometimes all we need to do is fix our focus.

Many times when we feel down and discouraged all we need is to fix our focus. Many times we've stopped thinking about our blessings and the positive things we have in life.

When we stop and think of all the many things we can do as a blessing our focus and attitude change to the positive.

Two Bible verses talk about focus. One says, "Focus your eyes on Jesus" (See Hebrews 12:2) The other says "Set your mind and keep it set on higher things" (See Colossians 3:2) When we have these two to focus on we will be encouraged and focus on our blessings.

Today is a great day to fix our focus on our blessings. When we do we will feel encouraged.
