Amazingly and Miraculously Made

It's important to have a good relationship with ourselves. We are one person we can never get away from. No matter where we go, there we are. It's funny, but it's true.

When people don't like themselves they tend to be unhappy with others and their view of life isn't all that great either.

We all have a different set of fingerprints. We also have our own DNA. We may have the same parents, but our DNA is still uniquely ours.

We are not here by accident. The Bible says, "I knew you before I formed you in your mother's womb..." (see Jeremiah 1:5) "We are amazingly and miraculously made..." (See Psalm 139:14 GWT)

Knowing that we are amazingly and miraculously made should help us love our neighbor as we love ourselves (see Mark 12:31) and also set the tone for how we view life.

A Future Full Of Hope

How do we see our future? I like to keep in mind that I have a future full of hope! Like everyone else, I have had a lot of hurts in my past, but I want to let my hopes shape my future.

The following Bible verse has encouraged me over the years. "For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11 NLT

I truly believe God has an awesome plan for each of us. He says His plans are for good and not disaster. Our future is filled with hope when we work His plan.

Let your hopes, not your hurts, shape your future. Remember that you have a future full of hope.

Be Thankful For What We Have

Life isn't perfect, but we can be thankful for everything we have. Happy are they who take life day by day, complain very little and are thankful for the little things in life.

Life is not perfect, but we can be thankful for what we have. If we are not happy we need to have a meeting with ourselves. At that meeting we need to find out what we have been thinking about. I can bet we aren't thinking about how grateful we are.

Today is Memorial Day. One thing people in the USA can be thankful for are our freedoms. Many men and women have given their lives so we can enjoy our day to day lives.

Freedom isn't free. Life isn't perfect, but we should be thankful for what we have and grateful for those heroes who gave their lives for our freedoms. God Bless America!

It's All Good

It's been said that a good day is a good day. It's also been said that a bad day is a good story. At the end of the day it's all good!

No matter what we're going through it's how we can play the hand we hold in life. We can be a Victim or a Victor!

Today's Bible verse is one of my favorites. "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them." Romans 8:28 NLT

If we keep this verse in our mind we can know that God causes everything to work together for the good! No one has all the good cards in life. What's important is how well we play the cards we hold.

Families Are Like Fudge

Today is my family reunion on my Mom's side. It will be nice to see family I haven't seen in awhile. All of the original 14 bothers and sisters, plus, their 1st cousins are gone now. We still have our Aunt Carmel who was married to one of the core 14. If it weren't for her being there I would be considered one of the OLD people!  :D

Our family have all grown in different directions yet our roots remain as one. And yes, our family is like fudge. Mostly sweet with a few nuts. I'm sure I'm considered one of the nuts and I love it!

Make Someone's Day Special

Earlier today I posted about being a "Day Changer." when I thought of this little story. 

Bill and I went out to eat with his Aunt Chris and his cousins. During the course of the dinner Bill told Aunt Chris this little story.

Bill told how when he was little he really looked up to his Uncle Joe. When Uncle Joe married Aunt Chris he knew she must be very special.

Aunt Chris was a nurse. Back in those days the nurses wore all white. Bill was sure she was an angel! Not only because she wore white, but because she was also so pretty. Bill smiled and told Aunt Chris he had a big crush on her.

You should have seen Aunt Chris's face. She had the biggest smile and tears filled her eyes.

I'm sure Bill being kind and sharing this little story made her day special and it was also a day changer.

Be A Day Changer

Remember that a smile or one kind word can change someone's day. Be a day changer!

I don't know about you, but I like it when people smile at me or say a kind word. It's pretty natural for me to smile, but I don't always say what I'm thinking to a stranger. Sometimes I do and I usually hear, "Thank you! You made my day!"

Our Bible verse says, "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets." Matthew 7:12 NIV

We can all be a day changer when we remember to smile and say a kind word.

One Thought At A Time

"One Thought At A Time." Isn't that how the happiness of our days usually go?

I read somewhere that one positive thought to start our day can make a big difference. We all know that a negative mind will never give us a positive life.

Sometimes we need a break from their own thoughts. Our greatest weapon against stress is our ability to choose one thought over another.

Our Bible verse today from 2 Corinthians 10:5 talks about "Taking every thought captive." This tells me that we can choose one thought over another.

Since our minds can only hold one thought at a time let's make it a positive one!

Limited Edition

Today is sort of an anniversary for me. It's been 365 days that I have posted a quote and written a little bit about it. I put these on my blog, Insights 4 Living, and I also share them on fb.

Life is full of surprises! This sure has surprised me that I would keep doing this for 365 days! I have to look up, smile and say, "I know that was you God. Thank you!

Do Yourself A Favor

We can't move forward if we park at the point of our pain. We all have bad things that happen to us. We can pull over and park or we can decide to move forward with confidence and be all we were created to be.

I think we've all said, "One of these days I'll do that." We all put things off from time to time. I'm sure there are many reasons why.

The fear of failure might be one reason. But what would we attempt if we knew we wouldn't fail?

People even put off happiness. They think they can't be happy now, but ONE DAY they will when...

Today's Bible verse tells us, "This is the day which the LORD has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24 NASB

Keep On Keepin' On

To keep on keepin' on we need a wishbone, a backbone and of course, a funny bone! ~ Quotes ~

It's important to have a wishbone.  Each day we have small goals. In order to do these we need a backbone to not give up. Lots of people have a wishbone, but no backbone to back it up.

Lastly we definitely need a funny bone. If we can take life lightly and laugh we will enjoy it more. Life is too short to be serious all the time.

Today's Bible verse talks about keep on keepin' on by forgetting the past and pressing forward towards the goal. (see Philippians 3:14)

We do need these three things to keep on keepin' on. A wishbone, a backbone, and most of all a funny bone!

Healthy Lifestyle

I think it's important to live a healthy lifestyle and take care of our bodies. As this quote says, "It's the only place we have to live."

Almost everyday I do my DVD Ball workout. I watch to the end because I want what is said to be embedded in my mind. It goes, "Every time you do this it's one more brick in the foundation of a healthy lifestyle, better body, and the best you that you can be." Little by little! (One brick at a time)

Our Bible verse today says, "Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well." 3 John 2

Having good health is so important. We don't realize what it's worth until it's gone.

Remember to take care of your body. It's the only place you have to live.

Celebrate Small Victories

Do What You Can

This past weekend my knee began to hurt after I took a walk on an uneven road. I got online to see what I should do. It gave several suggestions, but the one that surprised me was "don't sit down." It suggested to keep exercising it. I did just that!

I went to Planet Fitness yesterday as I usually do. I didn't overdo, but I did keep exercising my knee. Lo and behold this morning my knee is not hurting.

Our Bible verse today spoke to me in this situation. "But as for you, be strong and do not give up" 2 Chronicles 15:7

I'll be back to my normal routine today. Just because you couldn't do something yesterday doesn't mean you can't do it today. We have to do what we can, where we are, with what we have. Don't let what you can't do interfere with what you can do.

What Are You Wearing Today?

Of all the things we wear our attitude is most important. It's the first thing people notice about us. ~ Quotes ~

How true this is. It doesn't take only a second to be near someone to sense their attitude. It is the first thing people notice.

We can't go to our closet and stand there expecting our clothes to jump on us. I don't think we can just expect a loving attitude will jump on us either. Our Bible verse today says to, "Put on love." (see Colossians 3:14)

As we fill our minds with loving thoughts and ask the Lord to fill us with His love (see Psalm 90:14) I believe we are putting on love.

What are we wearing today? Personally, I want to put on LOVE.

People And Their Opinions

Believe it or not I've had a lot of negative things said about and to me over the years. Not everyone has agreed with the way I live my life.

Some of their opinions, I suppose, were justified. But quite honestly even the things I did that weren't so wonderful have made me the person I am today. I don't feel bad because now I can relate to people from all walks of life.

When Todd died I was confronted about the way I was handling his death. It's interesting how people have an opinion about almost anything. We don't all handle things the same.

I was quick to respond to this individual that I wasn't handling Todd's death at all! They were quite puzzled with my response. I shared with them that I had turned Todd and his death over to the Lord to handle. I had found that I couldn't handle it! After all these years I think the Lord has been doing a great job!

I actually had someone tell me that Todd's death wasn't the worst thing that could ever happen to me. Now anyone reading this, I want you to know that this is NOT something to say to a grieving mother. People have their opinions and lots are based on ignorance.

We all have people say negative things to us and about us. But God has a plan! We can't allow people's opinions to stop us from working the plan He has for our lives.

We have a future full of hope! We don't have to allow negative opinions to stop us from being the person we were created to be and working the plan God has for our lives.

You Are Loved

God is love! His love is unconditional! We may not understand why things happen as they do, but that doesn't mean we are not loved. God says, "I have loved you with an everlasting love!" (see Jeremiah 31:3)

Right Before Your Eyes

I remember crying when I was little, "I can't find it!" Usually my mom would say, "Did you really look?" Of course, I really looked! A few minutes later in she would walk. She'd pick up what I was looking for with these words, "Here it is, right before your eyes."

After I had my own children I'm sure I said these same words. "Did you really look?" and "Here it is right before your eyes."

It's funny how Moms can find things that their children can't see even though they are right before their eyes.

It's like that in life. Sometimes we can't see things that are right before our eyes. Lord, give us eyes to see.

Don't Miss The Sun Today

It must be human nature to worry about things. I say that because someone has stated that there are 365 'do not worry' texts in the Bible. I think that's awesome and there must be a good reason for it.

Drop it! Let it go!

If there was ever some great advice this is it! When we hear something that upsets us we can save ourselves a lot of stress if we will just drop it and let it go!

We can't change people even though we may like to try. Maybe the best thing to do is, "Give them a good leavin' alone!" as my dad would tell me.

The same is true in life's situations. We live in upset a lot of times because we choose to think and talk about something over and over.

Today's Bible verse tells us why our lives are shaped the way they are, "Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts." Proverbs 4:23 GNT Also ...if you have anything against anyone, forgive him [drop the issue, let it go] (See Mark 11:25)

We need to be careful how we think. The only path that anything can upset us is through our own thoughts. We can choose to drop it and let it go!

It's The Little Things That Matter

Sometimes we forget that it's the little things that count. One day we will look back and see that it was all the little things that made life big.

We seldom remember a whole day, but we do remember some small thing that happened that made the day special.

All things done in love are never little. The Bible says, our love for one another proves we are His disciples. (see John 13:35)

Today I hope we remember to do little things with love. One day we'll look back and realize that they were actually the big things that gave life meaning.

I saw this little MONDAY quote today and I thought it said a lot. It's so right that everyday is an amazing gift and it's up to us to make it count.

As everyone knows by now Psalm 118:24 is a favorite of mine. It doesn't say MONDAY but it says, "This is the day which the LORD has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24 NASB

Monday and everyday is an amazing gift. And it's up to us to make it count.

Be Who You Are

Today's Bible verse in Ephesians 2:10 tells us, "For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago." Ephesians 2:10 NLT

We don't need to get our value in what other people think or say about us. We don't need to get our worth and value in what we own, our education, or anything else.

Our worth and value comes from what God says about us. He says we are His masterpiece! People may not see us as a masterpiece, but that doesn't matter. It's how God sees us that matters. After all He has our names written on the palms of His hands. (See Isaiah 49:16)

Be who you are! You are God's masterpiece! He has a plan for you!

Run Your Own Race

Since today is the Kentucky Derby I was thinking about racing. We are all in our own race. God has a specific path for all of us where we will excel.

Today's Bible verse Hebrews 12:1 tells us we are "surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses." We are to throw off everything that gets in our way and run the race that is set before us.

We need to keep in mind that people are watching. Not only on earth, but I think this verse is talking about in the heavenly realm as well.

Run your own race! You are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses. Remember, God has a specific path for you where you can excel.

Today Is The Beginning

There's another quote I like. It goes something like this. Do something today that your future self will thank you for.

We aren't going to change overnight, but we can all do something that will help us inch closer to a better tomorrow.

We can ask, "God, create a pure heart in me, and renew a right attitude within me." Psalm 51:10 ISV. A pure heart and right attitude would be a great start today for a better tomorrow.

The beginning is always today! We can't go back and start a new beginning, but we can do something today that will inch us closer to a better tomorrow.

Let today be a new beginning. Do something that will inch you closer to a better tomorrow. Your future self will thank you for it.

What Do They Think?

Today I read that the UNhappiest people are those who are always concerned what other people are thinking about them. It also said the greatest prison people live in is the fear of what others are thinking. It's time for people to be set free!

I love this verse in Proverbs, "It is dangerous to be concerned with what others think of you, but if you trust the Lord, you are safe." Proverbs 29:25 GNT

No kidding it is very dangerous to always be worried about what other people are thinking or saying about us. Why be twisted up like a pretzel trying to fit into what we think others want us to be.

Life is too short to worry about what others think or say about us. Once we realize that it's actually dangerous to be concerned what others are thinking we can be free to be the unique person God has created us to be.

Once In A Lifetime Day!

I like to be around people who smile and are cheerful. They seem to spread brightness all around. I'm sure we all do.

Today is our once in a lifetime day. We can be the cheerful person who keeps happy thoughts in our minds and shares sunny smiles. We can do this when we remember, This is the day the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it!

Trust and Believe

We can save ourselves a lot of stress when we trust and believe in God. How can we know if we are really trusting and believing?

The Bible says, "For we who have believed do enter into rest...Hebrews 4:3

We know when we are really trusting and believing because we enter the rest of God. We aren't upset and worried. We are at rest trusting and believing God no matter what we are going through.

When we trust and believe God we can live life in rest. What an awesome way to live!

What Are You Full Of?

Your mind is a powerful thing when you fill it with positive thoughts. Don't ruin a good day by thinking of a bad yesterday. Let it go! ~ Quotes ~

If we're not happy we need to ask ourselves, "What are you full of?" If we're full of negative thoughts (anger, bitterness, jealousy, regret, etc)  we need to empty these thoughts out of our mind. We then need to replace them with some good thoughts (love, joy, peace,forgiveness, etc). If we're full of negative thoughts how on earth can we be happy?

Negative thoughts are poison. They can actually make us sick mentally and physically!  We need to flush out the poison of negative thinking just like we would a bad bacteria.

Like this verse in Proverbs says,"Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts." Proverbs 4:23 GNT

If we want to have a happy life we need to realize that our mind is a powerful thing when we fill it with positive thoughts. We shouldn't ruin a good day by thinking of a bad yesterday. Let it go!
