Freedom

On this Memorial Day here in the USA, it's important to remember the men and women who have given their lives so we can live in freedom. Too often, we take their sacrifices for our freedom for granted. We also take for granted that Jesus's sacrifice gives us total freedom here and also for eternity.

Our Bible verse says, "Greater love has no one than this that someone lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13 ESV

It takes great love to lay down our lives for our friends. We thank Jesus for His great love and our soldiers today.

When the Lord our God is our helper and our hope, we are blessed. It's awesome to be able to put all of our trust in Him.

Blessed are the Kind

If we went out of our way to be a little bit kinder, then we have to what a difference it would make in our world.

We not only need to be kind to others, but we also need to be kind to ourselves. I can be pretty hard on myself at times. I don't think I'm alone in this.

Our Bible verse says, Blessed the kind—because they will find kindness. Matthew 5:7 LSV Some translations say, Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

Kindness and mercy are the same things. We will be blessed if we not only show kindness and mercy to others but also to ourselves.

More Than a Conqueror

We can know that before our problems even start, we have victory over them. We are not victims but victors because of our loving relationship with Christ.

Our Bible verse says, "No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us." Romans 8:37 NIV

That's right, in everything we go through, we know we are more than a conqueror, and we will have victory because of our loving relationship with the LORD.

I believe we all have experienced winks from God when we look back on our lives. When we notice them, we have no doubt it was God blessing our lives.

Today's Bible verse says, Taste and see that the LORD is good! How blessed is the person who trusts in Him! Psalm 34:8 ISV

When we trust the LORD, we taste and see how good the LORD is. We have no doubt that we are blessed!

Sometimes I look up, smile, and say, "I know that was You, God!"

Remember

There may be times when we don't feel that God loves us, but let's face it, feelings lie. We may feel different ways about the same thing. How we feel can't always be trusted. We need to go by what we know to be true.

Our Bible verses say, "I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness." Jeremiah 31:3 Now, these three remain faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13

God's love is everlasting. Many things may disappear, but faith, hope, and the greatest is love, and love will remain.

The greatest thing to remember is that though our feelings come and go, God's love for us does not.

Make Up Your Mind

It's not always easy making the wise decision. I know I have a difficult time deciding between two right choices. What's good or what's best.

Our Bible verse says, "A person who has doubts is thinking about two different things simultaneously and can't make up his mind about anything." James 1:8

It's easy to think about two things at the same time. When we do it's hard to make up our minds about anything.

Power and Self-Control

Self-control is the strength to know you can but deciding you won't. When we have self-control, we want to do what's best. Whenever we are faced with a decision, we stay calm because we understand calmness is power.

Our Bible verse says, "For God did not give us a Spirit of fear but of power and love and self-control." 2 Timothy 1:7

God has given us power, love, and self-control. We do not have to live in fear. We have the power, love, and self-control to do whatever we need to do.

Self-control is strength, proper thought is mastery, calmness is power.

Step Out in Confidence

It's somewhat easy to start something. We're full of enthusiasm and are gung ho. However, we can quickly become discouraged in the middle if we're not careful. It's important to stay faithful and complete what we started.

Our Bible verse says, "Remember that I have commanded you to be determined and confident! Do not be afraid or discouraged, for I, the LORD your God, am with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9

When we know the LORD is with us, we can be determined to step out in confidence. We won't be afraid or discouraged. We will complete what we started.

The faith to step out is worthless without the faithfulness to stick it out.

You Decide

If we want to be happy, we have to decide on purpose. Life is short. Your time is limited to waste it being unhappy. You've never lived this day before, and you will never live it again. Make the most of it!

Our Bible verse is a favorite of mine. This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24 ESV

Yes, today is the day to rejoice and be glad. It's up to us to decide what kind of day we're going to have.

Every day it's up to us to decide what kind of day we are going to have. Change your thoughts, and you change your world.

I Think Myself Happy

Sometimes we need to cut ourselves off immediately when a negative thought comes to our minds. Let's remind ourselves that we don't have time for this!

These two Bible verses say, "Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise." Philippians 4:8 "I think myself happy..." Act 26:2

We have control over what we think. We can think about things worthy of praise, and when we do, we will think ourselves happy.

Be Careful

If we want people to show mercy, kindness, and respect, we need to show that behavior towards them.

Our Bible verse says, Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. Matthew 7:12

There ya go! However, we want others to treat us; this is how we need to treat them.

Be careful how you treat people. The things you do to others have a funny way of coming back to you.

God is Working

I believe that God is working all things together for my good. There are things I don't understand, but I know God is working. ~ Quotes

I'm not going to worry because I know God is working. All the pieces aren't together yet. One day everything will come together, and it all will make sense.

Our Bible verse says, "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them." Romans 8:28 NLT

Yes, I know that God is working everything together for our good. When we love God, we can know He will work out His purpose in our lives.

I believe that God is working all things together for my good. There are things I don't understand, but I know God is working.

Contentment

Oh, to be content no matter what is going on in our lives! Now, this is the best way to live. It's not that we don't desire anything, but instead, we decide to be happy with what we have.

Our Bible verses say, "I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I can do all this through Him, who gives me strength." Philippians 11&13

When we use the strength that Christ gives, we can learn to be content in whatever circumstances.

Contentment doesn't mean that I desire nothing, but rather it is a simple decision to be happy with what I have.

Spreading Sunshine

Love and kindness are never wasted. They spread sunshine and always make a difference. They bless the one who receives them, and they bless the giver too.

We have no idea what is going on in other people's lives. When we are kind and tenderhearted, we bless them, and it blesses us too.

Kindness is spreading sunshine in other people's lives regardless of the weather.

Peaceful on Purpose

Our Bible verse is one I repeat to myself quite often when I feel troubled. "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not be afraid." ~ John 14:27 NIV

We have to learn not to let our hearts be troubled or afraid. It isn't easy at times. But when we know we have been given God's peace, we can take a deep breath, calm down, and be peaceful on purpose.

Serenity is not freedom from the storm but peace amid the storm.

Miracles are God's Department

Miracles are God's department, that is for sure. When we put all of our faith and trust in God and His ability, we can relax.

It doesn't matter if something is impossible with people. Because nothing is impossible for God. Miracles are God's department!

When we're busy remembering all the good things the LORD has done for us, we won't focus on the bad.
