I wish I would automatically see the good in everything. I looked up the definition of "automatically." It said, "without conscious thought or attention; spontaneously."

Wouldn't our life we great if we didn't have to put in any conscious thought or attention to see the good in everything?

Today's Bible verse helps us to think about what we're thinking about. "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." Philippians 4:8 ESV

If we put this verse into practice we can train ourselves to see the good in everything with God's help, I might add.

What Do We See?

It's really interesting to observe people. Two people can go through the same experience and each one will see something different.

Our quote today makes it clear why this is so. What we see depend mainly on what we look for. If we look for the good in the situation we will see the good. If we look for the negative, believe you me, that's exactly what you will see. I used to see the negative in every situation. Thank the Lord I have changed my focus.

Our Bible verse says, "But blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear." Matthew 13:16 ESV I believe we are blessed if we look for the good in every situation.

The Tough Keep Going

We've all been through tough times. Sometimes when this happens we think it will never end. One way to deal with tough times is to just keep going and keep our hopes high.

Our Bible verse today says, "This is my command--be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9 NLT

When we go through tough times we need to know that we can be strong and courageous. We don't need to be afraid or discouraged. We can do this when we understand that the LORD our God is with us wherever we go.

Let Go Of The Old Embrace the New

I don't know about you, but I sometimes have a hard time letting go of the old. I have memories attached to these "old" things.

Today is the day to let go of the old and embrace the new knowing there is a time for every activity under the heavens.

God's Got It Covered

I was at a car wash one day and a woman behind me came up and knocked on my window. She said she just wanted me to know she really liked the message on my license plate cover.

When we go through life's storms we can write a note to ourselves, "Chill God's Got It Covered!"

Our Bible verse today says, "Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand." Isaiah 41:10 NLT

What a great way to live!  We can trust and believe that no matter what we are going through, "God's got it covered."

Run Your Own Race

Today was the Crim in Flint. The Crim is a race where people come from all over the world to run and walk. It's not a race just for the swift, but for everyone who wants to try and not quit.

Our Bible verse today is from Hebrews 12:1 , "And let us run with endurance the race that is before us. This verse also talks about having a "crowd of witnesses" watching us run our faith race.

Today there were many witnesses watching these people walk and run. We also have many witnesses watching us run our race of faith. We need to keep running our own race and not quit.

Enjoy The Ride

Yesterday I had was thinking about 'God's will' for my life when I thought about something I hadn't really thought of before. One thing that dawned on me was that 'God's will' is for us to enjoy our lives.

Somehow the Lord's prayer came to my mind. "Your kingdom come 'your will' be done on earth as it is in heaven" Matthew 6:10. How would God want us to live?

According to John 10:10 "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly."

Just by these two Bible verses I knew that 'God's will' is for us to enjoy our lives. Life is a journey. We can't wait for things to be perfect. We need to enjoy our lives right now.

Keep The Faith

I saw a video yesterday of a guy who didn't give up. His testimony of not giving up inspired a lot of people to keep trying also.

Sometimes it is a fight to keep the faith, keep believing, and not give up when things aren't going our way. As this quote says sometimes the most amazing things happen at just the right moment if we don't give up. Keep the faith!

I think it's cool that we have the "Awesome" ability to make a difference in someone else's life each day. We can be a rainbow in someone else's cloud.

There Are No Strangers

I'm a people person. I like all kinds and types of people. To me there are no strangers. It may be because we've moved quite often, but really I was like this as a child too.

Who knows maybe we all have met a few angels in our lives. Life becomes interesting and fun when we see strangers as friends and maybe even angels.

I truly believe if we know who we are we can be a victor in life. Our Bible verse tells us who we are, "For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus." Galatians 3:26 NLT

Wow, to know that we are children of God is awesome! Most of us know that every test in life makes us bitter or better. Problems can make us or break us the choice is ours.

When we really know who we are, 'children of God',  we can choose not to be a victim, but to be a victor in life.

Like everyone else I've had to adapt and adjust to change a lot in my life. Sometimes it's easier than others. It time to turn in my RED leased car I've been blessed to drive for 3 years. I know I need to adapt and adjust once again. It's odd how we can get attached to something like a car.

Beauty Begins

I like being around people who are comfortable about being who they are. They aren't trying to impress anyone or trying to be someone they aren't.

Inner Peace

Staying in peace no matter what is going on around us is a place of power. We give up our power when we allow people and circumstances to steal our peace. The Bible says, Blessed are the peacemakers. You bet we're blessed when we keep our peace.

Today's Bible verse in the AMPC tells us we have peace and how to keep it, no matter what's going on. "Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]" John 14:27 AMPC

If we want to live in peace we need to activate the peace we have and stop allowing ourselves to be agitated, disturbed, fearful, intimidated, cowardly and unsettled. Wow, what a way to live!

Inner peace begins the moment we choose not to allow another person or event to control our emotions. We can do this when we put John 14:27 into practice.

Love Believes The Best

If we really want to be happy one way to do it is to choose to believe the best of every person. Hurting people hurt people. If someone hurts us we can think, "I don't believe they really meant to do that. Maybe they are having a bad day or aren't feeling well."

Choosing to believe the best saves us a lot of pain. It's poison to us to to keep hateful feelings inside. We can drop it, leave it, let it go and choose to walk in love and believe the best.

Do What's Right

Freedom To Choose Our Attitude

Viktor Frankl was a man in a concentration camp. He underwent more than most of us will ever know. However, he understood he still had the freedom to choose his own attitude. He knew he would rather have power than pity.

Viktor had a good excuse and could have justified having a bad attitude. Despite that, he somehow knew there was power in keeping a positive attitude in a bad situation.

Our Bible verse says, "I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world." John 16:33 HCSB

I like how this Bible verse tells us what we can do when we undergo suffering. Be courageous! That's right, we can choose to keep a good attitude. Viktor understood freedom comes from choosing one's own attitude no matter the circumstance.

How Do You See?

We all see things differently. Some people choose to see a good outcome in every situation. While other choose to see a disaster around every corner.

We can choose to see a good outcome in every situation.The way we choose to see the world will create the world we see. When we believe that God will cause everything to work together for good we can choose to see our world in a positive way.

Be Yourself

It would be great if everyone approved and were happy with everything we did, but that's not reality. No matter how nice you are someone will find fault with something. Like the quote said, Life isn't about pleasing everyone.

Our Bible verse says, "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." Ephesians 2:10

When we understand that we are God's workmanship and we were created for good works we can be who we were created to be. We can be ourselves and be happy! Not everyone will like it and that's their choice. Life isn't about pleasing everyone.

Life Is Not A Spectator Sport

We all have something we are suppose to do. We don't need to get sidelined watching and comparing ourselves to others. Life is not a spectator sport.

Good News Makes Us Feel Better

I was thinking yesterday why some people are so stressed and unhappy. Then it dawned on me. Have you ever listened to the news? Good grief, it's one disaster or negative report after another.

Here's another Bible verse I've repeated to myself when I've felt discouraged. "Why, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God." Psalm 42:5

Let's be the reason someone smiles today. Let's spread some good news and most of all let's put our hope in God. We all have many reasons to praise Him.

Exercise Your Face...SMILE

Hardening Of The Attitudes

I hadn't thought about how our attitudes can get hardened until I read this today. It's so true. When things aren't going our way we start to have stinkin' thinkin' and pretty soon we have hardening of the attitudes.

Our Bible verse says, "Let the spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes." Some translations say, "Be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind."

As we give ourselves a daily check up we take every thought captive (see 2 Corinthians 10:5). When we do we will avoid stinkin' thinkin' and hardening of the attitudes.

Mental Vacation

There are many times we can't control our circumstances, but we can help ourselves by controlling how we think. We all need to take a "Mental Vacation" at times. I'm sure we have something in our past that has made us smile.

We Just Don't Know

We may look at people and think they must not have any big thing going on in their life. Quite honestly we just don't know.

I'm a people person. I've had complete strangers walk up to me and share some sad part of their life with me. To look at them I would have never known.

Our Bible verse says, "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." Ephesians 4:32 NIV

Even if a person is angry. We need to realize that hurting people hurt people. For some reason they are hurting. What are we suppose to do? The second part of this Bible verse tells us. It says we are to forgive each other. Why? Because in Christ God forgave us.

Be Kind! Everyone is fighting a battle we know nothing about.

Seeing With New Eyes

Years ago I met a man who taught me a lot. He helped me see with new eyes. When we were discussing different subjects he would say, "I used to think like that. Now I see things differently."

Our Bible verse says, "The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple." Psalm 119:130

We are all passengers on this journey called life. As we travel along we may find it's not in seeking new lands, but in seeing with new eyes that helps us grow and develop.

God's words give us light to our journey and imparts understanding. As we journey through life help us learn it is not seeking new lands, but it's seeing with new eyes that gives life meaning.

Focus On What You Do Have

It sure is easy to get focused on what we don't have or aren't good at in life. I think we would enjoy life more if we would see, appreciate, and use what we do have.

Wow Attitude

When Ken walked out of his home last Friday he had no idea what this day would hold. Ken had worked at this job in the steel factory for 30 years; so walking out of the door had become something he, no doubt, took for granted.

Ken started to work that morning in a part of the factory where no other people were working. All of a sudden the steel i beams began to shift. The next thing Ken knew 25,000 pounds of steel was on his legs. Since no one was around he pulled out his cell phone and called 911.

It wasn't long before the other workers in the shop saw the police cars etc pulling up to the factory. They ran to the back to see what was going on. Much to their horror they saw Ken pinned under 25,000 pounds of steel.

Ken was rushed to the hospital where both of his legs had to be amputated above the knees.

The following day Ken's boss went up to the hospital to see him. When he asked, "Ken, how are you?" Ken smiled and replied, "Well, I'm shorter than I was yesterday."

Now I say this is a "Wow Attitude!" We may not be able to control every situation and it's outcome, but we can control our attitude and how we deal with it.

Ken's "Wow Attitude" is a perfect example of living this out. 

Enjoy The Scenery On The Detour

I think most people do want to live life and not just exist. One way according to this quote is to enjoy the scenery on the detours.

Jesus didn't just come to give us eternal life, but He also came to give us abundant life right here on earth. We can enjoy the scenery on the detours in life when we aren't letting the thief steal our happiness.

It's not the years in our life that count. It's the life in our years. A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on the detour.
