I think most people do want to live life and not just exist. One way according to this quote is to enjoy the scenery on the detours.
Today's Bible verse says, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly." John 10:10 ESV
Jesus didn't just come to give us eternal life, but He also came to give us abundant life right here on earth. We can enjoy the scenery on the detours in life when we aren't letting the thief steal our happiness.
It's not the years in our life that count. It's the life in our years. A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on the detour.
