Weed Out and Plant

by Kay Heitsch

Today is a good day to weed out unwanted thoughts and plant thoughts you wish to flourish. ~ Control Your Thoughts Quotes ~
Our mind is a powerful thing. Our unwanted thoughts can cause a lot of stress in our lives. Today is an excellent time to weed them out and plant thoughts you want to flourish.
Our Bible verse says, "Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise." Philippians 4:8 NLT
There's a quote that says, "What consumes your mind controls your life." If we fix our thoughts on what is true, honorable, right, pour, lovely, admirable, excellent, and worthy of praise, our life will flourish.
Today is a good day to weed out unwanted thoughts and plant thoughts you wish to flourish.

Change Me

by Kay Heitsch

Two of the most powerful words we can utter in our prayer time, Change Me. ~ God Change Me Quotes ~
There are many times we pray that God will change our circumstances or change another person. We seldom think that maybe God is using these things to try and change us. It's interesting to find that when we change, those people or circumstances have minimal effect on us anymore.
Our Bible verse says, Create pure thoughts in me, and renew a right attitude within me. Psalm 51:10
When we pray for God to create pure thoughts and a right attitude, our circumstances and other people won't negatively affect us anymore.
Two of the most powerful words we can utter in our prayer time, change Me.

Later On

Wisdom is doing now what you are going to be happy with later on. ~ Joyce Meyer Quote ~
Whether we like it or not, later on always comes. If we want to be happy later on, we need to use wisdom today.
Our Bible verse says, "Happy is the person who finds wisdom, the one who gains understanding." Proverbs 3:13
Sometimes we need to do something we may not feel like to have the results we want to be happy with later on. This takes wisdom and understanding.
Wisdom is doing now what you are going to be happy with later on.

People Change

by Kay Heitsch

It's funny how people can change. One day they like you the next day they don't. ~ Quotes ~
Today on Palm Sunday, we celebrate the day people shouted Jesus' praises. But if you know the story, it wasn't too long, and these same people turned on Him.
This can happen to us. We have people in our lives who seem to be our friends. Then for some reason, they change. This is the time we need to keep doing what we know we're supposed to do. We keep moving forward, knowing Jesus understands.
Today's Bible verse says, They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, "Hosanna!" "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Blessed is the king of Israel!" John 12:13 NIV
We see by this verse the people were all for Jesus. They were shouting His praises. But there is more to the story.
It's funny how people can change. One day they like you the next day they don't.

Who's to Blame?

by Kay Heitsch

We all have gone through situations in our lives where we wanted to blame someone. Blaming has been a part of life since the beginning of time.
First, Eve blamed the serpent, which we still do today. People like to say, "The devil made me do it!" Next, Adam blamed Eve. We all do this too. We want to blame others. Finally, Adam blamed God. Very sadly, people still blame God for all of life's woes.
Well, who is to blame? There are many things we bring on ourselves, and there is no one to blame but ourselves. We need to take responsibility for those things. This is not easy, but it is necessary.
Some bad things have been said or done to us. Are they to blame? Yes! What they did was wrong. But we can take back our control and forgive a person who has never apologized and move on. These negative things may have had a terrible effect on our lives, but they are no reason to stay upset the rest of our lives.
People, for some reason, still like to blame God for all of the trouble in the world. God has given us free will. People are free to make choices.
It's up to us how we will respond to the things that go on in our lives. We can play the blame game or we can trust God to help us move on and have the best life possible.

Take Control

by Kay Heitsch

You may never be able to control every situation. But you can control your attitude and how you deal with it. ~ Control Quotes ~
How we respond to challenging situations in life directly affects our health and well-being. Usually, our first response is to get upset. After we have learned the effects of this response, we should be smart enough to take control.
Today's Bible verse says, "Losing self-control leaves you as helpless as a city without a wall." Proverbs 25:28 CEV
We have self-control. We need to use it! Why leave ourselves wide open for the effects of stress on our lives.
You may never be able to control every situation. But you can control your attitude and how you deal with it.
Take Control with God's help!

Who's Your Daddy?

by Kay Heitsch

There are a few TV shows people go on to find out who their daddy is. I knew a girl who was on one of these TV programs. When it aired, we watched it together.
In this day in age, some people sadly don't feel a sense of belonging to a family. They don't know who their daddy is.
Our Bible verse says, "All of you are God's children because of your faith in Christ Jesus." Galatians 3:26 CEV
According to this verse, we are all God's children. He is our daddy when we put our faith in Jesus Christ. How awesome is this!
If anyone asks, Who's your daddy?' You can tell them. I am a child of God.

Keep Going

by Kay Heitsch.

Keep going, and the LORD will help you. ~ Help From the Lord Quotes~
You know what they say, you can't drive a parked car. Well, that is so true. We need to pray and then do what we know we should do. Always ask for the Lord's help. Then expect and look for what He will show you to do. Keep going!
Our Bible verse says, "The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, to anyone who seeks help from Him." Lamentations 3:25 GWT
The LORD is always good! He wants us to look for and expect Him to help us. We should purposely pursue help from Him.
Keep going, and the LORD will help you.

Sleep in Peace

by Kay Heitsch

Several years ago, my husband took a job where he was out of town. I was used to him being transferred, but then our kids were home. Now, the children were out of the house, and I was alone.
During the day, I was fine. However, at night I had a hard time sleeping. I was not used to sleeping alone. I tossed and turned and even woke up at the end of the bed upside down one morning.
I stayed active, so I was tired when I went to bed. One day at Planet Fitness, I was talking to a guy. He wanted to know if I had a gun to protect myself if anyone tried to break in. I hadn't thought of someone breaking in, so now I felt a little bit afraid. I started to hear all kinds of noises when I went to bed.
I found there were Bible verses about sleep. One was, "When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet." Proverbs 3:24 NIV
I made up my mind I was not going to go to bed being afraid. I bought some earplugs and put them in my ears. This way, I didn't hear every little noise. I started to take control of my thoughts. I didn't count sheep; I talked to the Shepherd. When I went to bed, I had a sweet sleep.
If you have a hard time sleeping, always remember you don't need to count sheep. You can talk to the Shepherd and sleep in peace.

Look and See

Sometimes I look up, smile, and say, I know that was You, God! Thanks! ~ Look and See Quotes ~
If we would pay attention and look, we would see all of the many things God has done in our lives. When I think back, I'm amazed at the perfect timing of things happening. Some may think it's just luck or coincidence. I know better; it was God!
Today's Bible verse says, "You thrill me, LORD, with all you have done for me! I sing for joy because of what You have done." Psalm 92:4 NLT
When we see all that, the LORD has done, we are filled with joy.
Sometimes I look up, smile, and say, I know that was You, God! Thanks!

Springtime

by Kay Heitsch

A kind word is like a Spring day. ~ Springtime Quotes ~
We all look forward to Spring. After a long cold winter, to see the first blossoms and feel the sun on your face is lovely. Our kind words can help a person to feel warm and loved, like a Spring day.
Our Bible verse says, "Blossoms appear in the land. The time of the songbird has arrived. The cooing of the mourning dove is heard in our land." Song of Solomon 2:12 GNT
Springtime has arrived. Our caucuses are blooming. Our songbirds are singing, and JR, our mourning dove, is cooing once again.
Let's remember that a kind word is like a Spring day.

Never Without Hope

by Kay Heitsch

When our first grandson, Noah, was born, he had a lot of physical problems. There were times when the only thing I had was hope and prayer.
I often wondered if he would ever walk. Yesterday, on my birthday, no less, Noah not only walked, but he also skated and played in his first hockey game with the Special Olympic team.
When we live in a personal relationship with the Lord, we are never without hope. One reason is that we are never without prayer. There is nothing we can't talk to the Father about.
Our Bible verse says, "Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The LORD's unfailing love and mercy still continue." Lamentations 3:21
Yes, we can dare to hope when we remember the LORD's unfailing love and mercy.

Only One of Us

by Kay Heitsch

God loves each of us as if there were only one of us. ~ St. Augustine Quote ~
Talk about amazing love. I've heard this over the years, but it's still hard to fully understand God's love.
Our Bible verse says, "I want you to know all about Christ's love, although it is too wonderful to be measured. Then your lives will be filled with all that God is." Ephesians 3:19 CEV
Even though I may never completely know Christ's wonderful love, I want to. I want my life to be filled with all that God is. Wow, what a way to live!
Let's remember that God loves each of us as if there were only one of us.

Only a Prayer Away

by Kay Heitsch

God's help is only a prayer away. ~ Don't Worry Quotes ~
I think most of us worry at times. We know it won't do any good. In fact, a day full of worry can drain our strength faster than a day of hard work.
Today's Bible verse has helped me, "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done." Philippians 4:6 NLT
When I tell God what I need and also thank Him for what He's done, this helps me not worry. I like to add, thank You, Father, for working on this situation, whatever it may be.
Don't worry. God's help is only a prayer away.

3 in 1

by Kay Heitsch

Many years ago, I was working at a Junior High School on St. Patrick's Day. I didn't know much about St. Patrick's Day at the time, but I was about to find out.
Whenever I worked at school, I always carried candy or something to give to the kids every day. On St. Patrick's Day, I took some shamrocks.
Much to my surprise, one of the Junior High girls asked me if I knew what the shamrock represented. Believe it or not, I didn't.
I found her explanation enlightening. She explained that the 3 leaves represented the Holy Trinity. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. (see 1 John 5:7)
Understanding how God can be 3 persons can be difficult. This young girl's way of explaining it was something I have never forgotten.

God Loves You!

It may take a while to understand that God loves us unconditionally. However, once we have this awareness, our lives will begin to change. When we accept God's love for us, we can then love other people and ourselves.
When we know we are loved, we will also trust God to show us the best direction our lives should take.
Our Bible verse says, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know. Remember the LORD in everything you do, and He will show you the right way." Proverbs 3:5&6 GNT
When we know we are loved unconditionally; then we will trust the LORD with all of our hearts. When we love the LORD, we will remember Him in all we do, knowing He will show us the right way to go.

Smile today because God loves you!

Run Your Own Race

by Kay Heitsch

Don't compare your situation to someone else's. You're not running their race. You're running your own. ~ Running the Race of Life Quotes ~
It's imperative not to compare your situation to someone else's. We all have a race to run. God has a unique plan for all of our lives.
Our Bible verse says, "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author, and perfecter of our faith." Hebrews 12:1 & 2 NLT
Believe it or not, we are surrounded by a huge crowd of witnesses who are watching us. Let's run with endurance the race God has set before us. Always keeping our focus on Jesus.
Don't compare your situation to someone else's. You're not running their race. You're running your own.

Can or Can't

by Kay Heitsch

"Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right." ~ Henry Ford Quote ~

It is vitally important how we think. We can talk ourselves into victory or defeat. We can say who God says we are and have a victorious life, or we can entertain thoughts from the devil and live defeated.
Our Bible verse says, "Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts." Proverbs 4:23 GNT Some versions say, "Guard your hearts above everything else."
We need to be careful and guard our thoughts. What we think about will shape our lives.
Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right.

You Can Do It!

by Kay Heitsch

Never Quit! If you stumble, get back up. You can do it. ~ Quotes ~
Today our grandson Noah played in his first scrimmage on the Special Olympic hockey team. This may not seem like a big deal to some people, but you have to know Noah to see that it is a huge deal.
Noah had a rough start in life. We weren't sure if he would even make it let alone play sports. We were surprised when Noah said he wanted to play hockey. First, our daughter and son-in-law had him take ice skating lessons. Noah stumbled, cried, and fell many times. It took a while, but he learned to get back up after each fall.
We were impressed when Noah asked the coach if he could be on the hockey team. Most of the boys on the team are much older than Noah. He would no doubt be the smallest and the youngest player. The coach said he had to know how to do certain things before being on the team. Noah shocked all of us when he did everything the coach asked him to do.
Most of us don't have as many challenges as Noah or the other boys on this team. We can all learn a lesson from Noah and each one of them. Don't quit! If you stumble, get back up! You can do it!

God Loves You!

I don't know how many people understand or believe God loves them. I say this because when I first started to write, I asked the Lord what I should tell the people. I distinctly heard in my spirit, "Tell them I love them."
I was confused. I thought people knew God loved them. But as the years went by, I started to understand that many people don't know that God loves them.
Some people have the idea if they behave better, then God will love them. Let's face it; our behavior has nothing to do with it. As far as I know, there are no perfect people in this world.
There are many Bible verses about God's love for you. "I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness." Jeremiah 31:3
God's love for us is everlasting. He draws us to Him with unfailing kindness.
If no one has ever told you, I'm telling you today. God loves you!

More than a Conqueror

by Kay Heitsch

You can overcome anything that comes your way when you know who you are and how much God loves you. ~ Quotes ~
When we know that we are a child of God and He loves us, we can be more than a conqueror.
Our Bible verse says, ´No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. Romans 8:37 BSB
It doesn't matter what comes our way. We know that we are not alone, and we are loved unconditionally. This understanding helps us to be more than a conqueror.
You can overcome anything that comes your way when you know who you are and how much God loves you.

What We Look For

by Kay Heitsch

What we see depends mainly on what we look for. ~ Look for the Good Quotes ~
Are we expecting God's blessings as we go about our day? Do we look for the good that each day brings?
Today's Bible verse says, What would have become of me had I not believed that I would see the Lord’s goodness in this present life. Psalm 27:13
I can tell you what becomes of people who don't look for the goodness of the Lord. They are depressed and pessimistic. Let's look for the Lord's goodness and see the blessings each day brings.
What we see depends mainly on what we look for.

If Not Now, When?

by Kay Heitsch

The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today. ~ If Not Now, When? Quotes ~
We need to ask ourselves if the things we are doing today are getting us closer to where we want to be tomorrow. It's easy to put things off. Let's remember that we are always one decision away from a totally different life.
Our Bible verse says, "This is the day which the LORD has made; let's rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24 NASB
This is the day! We can't wait until our circumstances are just the way we would like them. Let's rejoice and be glad today.
The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today.

Best Promoter

by Kay Heitsch

Cheerfulness is the best promoter of health. ~ Being Cheerful is Good for Your Health Quotes ~
I read about a man who had cancer. At first, he was depressed. But he decided to start watching comedies. It was amazing what adding laughter to his life did for him.
Our Bible verse says, "A joyful heart is good medicine, but depression drains one's strength." Proverbs 17:22
We all know that depression drains one's strength. Let's add joy to our lives every day. It is good medicine!
Cheerfulness is the best promoter of health.

Each Stage of Your Life

by Kay Heitsch

God will help you make the right choices that guide you into His path for each stage of your life. ~ God Will Guide You Quotes ~
God has a plan for each stage of our lives. We may not be doing what we did when we were younger. In fact, we may be doing something better because now we have some life experience.
Our Bible verse says, "The LORD says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you." Psalm 32:8 NLT
It's great to know that the LORD will guide us along the best pathway for our life. He will advise us and watch over us.
God will help you make the right choices that guide you into His path for each stage of your life.

Raise Your Expectations

by Kay Heitsch

Get your hopes up! Raise your expectations. Your best days are still in front of you. ~ Get Your Hopes Up Quotes ~
Sometimes when things don't go as we planned, we may get discouraged. We don't see how things are going to work out. This is the time to raise our expectations!
Our Bible verse says, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God, everything is possible.” Matthew 19:26 NLT
Wow, I love this! We may not see a way that things can work out. It looks impossible. But we need to remember that everything is possible with God.
Get your hopes up! Raise your expectations. Your best days are still in front of you.
