Stretch

It's important to stretch both physically and spiritually. The more we stretch the better we feel. In order to stretch our faith, it's imperative to keep in mind where our faith comes from.

Our Bible verse is one of my favorites. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13 BSV

I have repeated this verse to myself many times when I need to stretch my faith. As we trust Christ to give us His strength when we are out of our comfort zones, it stretches our faith and gives confidence.

Sometimes we are stirred out of our comfort zones in order to stretch us to use our faith.

Remain Calm

I wish I could say that this is a lesson I have mastered, but I haven't. My personality isn't exactly the keep calm type. However, when I feel unsettled, I can calm myself down when I think about God and His promises.

Our Bible verse says, "Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” Psalm 46:10 NLT

Being still and knowing that God is in control helps us to remain calm. He says He will be honored throughout the world. Knowing this can help us stay calm.

The Focus of Your Attention

How often do we go from putting our trust in God to worry and anxiety? We want God's peace and the awesome quality of life He gives, but we don't focus on Him and the things we should.

Our Bible verse says, "And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise...And the God of peace will be with you." Philippians 4:8&9 NLT

It is so important what we focus on. If we fix our thoughts on the right things God will give us peace.

The quality of your life is determined by the focus of your attention.

He Does Know

God has a reason for allowing things to happen. We may never understand, but we simply have to trust that He knows what He's doing.

Our Bible verse says, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding." Proverbs 3:5

It's okay if we don't understand. We don't know everything. What we do know is that we can put our trust in God, because He does know.

Faith is about trusting God even when you don't understand His plan.

Many years ago, I picked up a bulletin at church. On the front of this bulletin was a picture of Jesus. Above the picture were the words. "Who do you say that I am?" I put this bulletin in a frame and I have it on my desk. This is a question we all have to answer.

What about you? Who do you say that He is? How you answer this question will shape your reality.

If You're Still Here

Yesterday I saw this quote. When I read it, I felt encouraged. Every day when I wake up, I know God has something for me to do.

Today's Bible verse says, "For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Ephesians 2:10 NIV

Just think, God, created us for a purpose. He has good works for us to do that He's prepared in advance.

Keep on Praying

We may doubt a lot of things, but never doubt the power of prayer. I have seen prayers answered in amazing ways. Your prayers do not need to be long. A simple "Help" is still a prayer that I have seen answered.

Our Bible verse says, "Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble and keep on praying." Romans 12:12

When we rejoice in our hope, troubles won't overwhelm us. We can be patient knowing that God is working as we keep on praying.

God's Timing

It's hard to wait. The process can be painful and hard. We may wonder where God is when He is silent. But we should never forget God is working. He has a great plan for each of us. His timing is perfect.

Our Bible verse says, "For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11 NLT

I love this verse. It's so encouraging to know that God's plans for us are good and are not for disaster. His plans give us hope for the future.

God's plan is always the best. God is never early nor is He ever late. Trust His timing.

Decisions! Decisions!

Our health includes more than physical. It includes our mental and spiritual health as well.

There are many reasons to decide to be happy. "Being cheerful is good for your health" Proverbs 17:22 "Being joyful is your strength." Nehemiah 8:10 "There is nothing better for people than to be happy." Ecclesiastes 3:12 "This is the day which the LORD has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24

Every day we have decisions to make. We can look around and have a 'poor me' attitude if we choose. Or we can decide to see the good things we have to be thankful for and be happy.

Our Bible verse says, "Happy are the people whose God is the LORD!" Psalm 144:15 NKJV

When we make a decision to be happy this shows others that God is the LORD of our life.

I've decided to be happy because it's good for my health.

Think Back

Several years ago I was in a situation I was not expecting. My husband had decided to take a job where he was not going to be home every day. I remember praying, "God, I'm trusting You to take care of me"

The first night I was going to be alone a friend from another state came for a visit. I was expecting him, but I didn't know I was going to be alone. I could see this as a way God was taking care of me right from the start.

As the days, months, and years went by, I started to remember the many times' God had cared for me in the past. Each time I relived an experience, in my mind, I could see God's love and care all along my life's journey.

Most days I felt fine, but one night I felt a little lonely. Out of the blue, I had a message from a guy who had been in a youth group I was a co-leader in. He reminded me that I was never alone. This message I could clearly see was from God. He was reminding me, once again, that He was taking care of me.

We all go through uncertain times in our lives. We don't know what the future holds. When we go through these uncertain times, I would like to suggest that you think back on how the LORD has taken care of you in the past.

Our past experiences with God can help us trust Him when we face situations in the present. Always remember that God loves you! Don't worry! Put your trust in Him. He will take care of you.

God Will Take Care of You

As with many of you, I have been in situations where I felt afraid. I didn't know what the future was going to be like. I remember vividly the day I said to the LORD, "I trust You to take care of me!" Once I confidently put my trust in God, I felt a sense of peace and thanksgiving filled my heart.

Our Bible verse says, "The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust Him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving." Psalm 28:7 NLT

When we trust in the LORD with all of our hearts, we know that He will take care of us. He will help us and give us strength and protection. We can confidently put our trust in Him.

What Do You Know?

I remember a common greeting used to be, "What'd Ya Know?" People were interested in what another person knew. I haven't heard that greeting in years.

I think it would be a good idea to ask ourselves, "What do you know?" What do you know about God? Job said, "I know my Redeemer lives." Do you know God loves you? Do you know that God causes everything to work out for the good of those who love Him?

Our Bible verse says, "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them." Romans 8:28 NLT

The best way to stay in peace is to know that God is in control.

True peace comes from knowing that God is in control no matter how things look.

Nothing Better

Last night I was reading about a man who knew his days were soon to be coming to an end here on earth. The perspective he had made me think. He wasn't worried about the future or thinking about his past, but his focus was on enjoying every day he had left.

Quite honestly, this man had been given a few numbers of days he had to live, but no one knows how many days we have. When Todd died instantly at age 16 this was an eye-opener to me.

The good Lord has given us our life to enjoy. This verse says there is nothing better than to be happy and do good while you're here.

If you want to be happy do not dwell in the past, do not worry about the future, focus on living fully in the present.

Be Mindful

If you ever go on a diet, they always say to be mindful of what you eat. I think a lot of times we don't pay much attention to what we are eating. We see a bowl of candy and just pop one in our mouth without really thinking about it.

The same is true about the other things we are putting in our bodies. We allow bad thoughts to tear us down emotionally. We seldom think of asking God to fill us with His love.

Our Bible verse says, "Fill us each morning with Your constant love, so that we may sing and be glad all our life." Psalm 90:14 GNT

When we are mindful to ask the LORD to fill us each morning with His constant love, we will be glad we did.

Your diet is not only what you eat. Be mindful of what you put into your body emotionally, spiritually, and physically.

Stand Strong

Many times, our own thoughts defeat us and make us weak. In order to stand strong, we need to be very careful about what we dwell on.

Our Bible verse says, "Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong." 1 Corinthians 16:13 NLT

In order to stand strong and be courageous, we need to be on guard. We can't allow every thought that comes into our mind to remain. Let the thoughts that don't make you strong go.

Stretch Your Faith

During times of uncertainty, it's easy to start to allow fear to creep in. We need to understand that God is always in control. What may seem like a crisis to us is not a crisis to Him.

Our Bible verse says, "Let your faith be bigger than your fear." Hebrews 13:6.

In order to let our faith be stronger than our fear, we need to stretch our faith. Going through situations we don't like or understand causes us to stretch our faith. As we trust God our faith grows stronger.

We must understand that the Kingdom of God is never in a crisis.

Sword of Light

I have witnessed how kindness and love cut through the darkness of a person's hate-filled heart. Darkness cannot overcome darkness but light can. The darkness of life cannot hide the light of kindness that shines.

When we walk in the light of God's kindness, we are happy.

Tragedies into Victories

No matter what we face in life, God is with us to guide us. Only God can turn our worst tragedies into victories.

From personal experience, I know this to be true! When I was at the lowest point in my life, I turned my worst tragedy over to God and He has brought some amazing victories out of it.

As I really studied the Bible I learned how to move forward in a positive way. God's word was a lamp to guide me and a light for my path.

No matter what we face in life, God is with us to guide us. Only God can turn our worst tragedies into victories.

Whatever You Do

It's interesting how this includes eating, drinking, or whatever we do. When we think about pleasing God we know He's all about putting love into everything.

It's not about how much you do, but how much love you put into what you do that counts.

I Can Depend

I think a lot of times we depend too much on people. We expect people to give us what only God can give. He knows what we need and what is going to be the best for us individually.

Yesterday, I came across today's verse. "I depend on God alone; I put my hope in him." Psalm 62:5 GNT

Where do you put your hope? I depend on God alone! I put my hope in Him. When I do, I have peace on the inside no matter what is going on in the world.

I may not always be able to depend on people, but I know I can depend on God.

Do You Not See It?

If we always see the negative side of things, eventually that is all there is. Always look for the positive no matter how small.

God is working. Do you not see it? He is always about doing something new. His ways are always over and above what we think. Keep looking for the good things He is doing.

Always look for the good things in life, never dwell on the negative. If you keep your head down, you'll miss the blessings.

Wait Patiently

It really doesn't do us any good to worry. Why we waste our time on what other people are doing is useless. The best thing to do is to keep our faith in God and be patient. We know He is working things out for our best.

Our Bible verse says, "Be still in the presence of the LORD and wait patiently for Him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes." Psalm 37:7 NLT

When we stay still and wait patiently for the LORD to handle things, we won't need to worry about what other people are doing.

Sometimes the best things to do is breathe, have faith in God, and be patient that all will work out for the best.

Nothing is Impossible with God

There are many things that are impossible for us. But when we have our faith in God, we know that all things are possible for Him.

Our Bible verse says, Jesus looked at them and said, “With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.” Mark 10:27 ESV

Whatever we are facing today that is impossible for us we can have faith that all things are possible with God.

Impossible, the word itself says I'm possible. God is the I'm in the word Impossible.

God's Light Still Shines

When we are going through the darkest times in our lives it's wonderful to know that God is still there. His light will guide us and help us along a safe path.

No matter how dark things get God's light will always shine. The darkness can never put it out.

Even in our dark times, God is still there. His light still shines.

Peace on the Inside

When we keep our focus on God, knowing that He is in control, we can have peace on the inside. We know He loves us and is with us no matter what is going on.

When we feel unsettled, we can turn our focus on the Lord. He has given us His peace on the inside. Our part is to not let our hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

The words we speak to others and also to ourselves are so important. Kind words do make us feel happy and also help us to feel strong.

Not So Much

The words we speak sure do determine if we enjoy life. Our words affect our attitude, and our attitude affects our life.

If It's Not Gonna Help

This is good advice. God rains down His love to help us to be all that He created us to be. If what we are doing isn't helping us to grow, we need to let it go.

Where's Your Hope?

Fame and fortune cannot keep you from experiencing the troubles of life. Rich and poor, small or great, we all have situations we have to deal with. These situations can discourage us, but we can have hope.

Our Bible verse says, "Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise Him again— my Savior and my God." Psalm 42:5

When we feel discouraged and sad there is something we can do. We can praise God and put our hope in Him. When we do, we can rise above the storms of life and find the sunshine again.

We are not living in fear. We are living in faith. Choose to put your hope in God.
