Ask God for Wisdom

I don't know how many people understand that they can ask God for wisdom. Maybe some people think they don't need it. However, if we have wisdom, we'll know what to do and we can be assured God will take care of us.

Our Bible verse says, "Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without criticizing, and it will be given to him." James 1:5 HCSB

Now tell me who doesn't think they lack wisdom. In my opinion, that would only be a fool! We all can use more wisdom. Our Heavenly Father will give us wisdom generously without criticizing us. After all, He knows we need it.

Ask God to give you wisdom and the strength to endure. Then rest assured He will take care of you.

Peace at All Times

If we want to keep our peace at all times, we need to not respond to the negativity that is going on around us. It's not easy but if we really want peace in our life it's possible.

Our Bible verse says, "Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you His peace at all times and in every situation. The Lord be with you all." 2 Thessalonians 3:16 NLT

The Lord of peace will give us peace at all times and in every situation. How about that! We can help ourselves when we stop responding to negativity.

The less you respond to negativity the more peaceful your life will become.

Always Ready to Help

This has been true in my life many times. I'm sure most of you can say the same thing.

Our Bible verse says, "Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you." 1 Peter 5:7 NLT

God does care about every little detail in our lives. We can give Him our worries and cares. When we do, we can be assured that He will give us the strength we need.

God will carry you through every storm and give you the strength to make it. He is always ready to help.

Never Waiver

It's important to see with our hearts when there is trouble all around. I believe we can stay strong and courageous by knowing we are not alone.

Our Bible verse says, "This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 NLT

Let's not live afraid or discouraged. We need to be strong and courageous through these dark times. Always remember the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.

Don't Stop Walking

I've often thought if I ever got a tattoo, I wanted it put on the side of my foot with these words. "Walk by Faith".

Our Bible verse says, "For we walk by faith, not by sight." 2 Corinthians 5:7 ESV

Yes, we do walk by faith. We can keep our faith strong by expecting good things to be coming down the road. We just need to keep on walking.

Good things are coming down the road. Just don't stop walking.

Stay in Peace

One way to stay in peace is to keep trusting God even when life doesn't make sense. It's easy to get upset when we see things happening that we don't understand.

Our Bible verse says, "You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You because he trusts in You." Isaiah 26:3 ESV

We can choose to keep trusting God, even when life doesn't make sense. When we keep trusting God this verse tells us that He will keep us in perfect peace. This sounds great to me!

Focus on God's Love

It's human nature I guess to think about and talk about our problems. If we would give these situations to God and focus on His love for us, we would see the positive results He would bring.

Our Bible verse says, "Remind me each morning of Your constant love, for I put my trust in You. My prayers go up to You; show me the way I should go." Psalm 143:8 GNT

Sometimes we need to be reminded to focus on God's love for us. When we do, we will trust Him and He'll show us what way we should go.

No matter what your problem don't nurse it, don't curse it, don't rehearse it. Just give it to God and He'll reverse it.

Right Place at the Right Time

Wouldn't it be great to always be in the right place at the right time? When I look back on my life I've had this experience and I'm sure many of you have too.

Our Bible verse says, "You are my God. Show me what you want me to do, and let Your gentle Spirit lead me in the right path." Psalm 143:10 GNT

When we seek the will of God, He will show us what to do. His gentle Spirit will lead us to the right place at the right time.

If you seek nothing but the will of God, he will always put you in the right place at the right time.

It's Good for Your Health

In the times we are living in a lot of people are concerned about their health. There are things we can do to help ourselves and one is to keep a peaceful heart.

Today's Bible verse says, "A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body. ...." Proverbs 14:30 NLT

We all know what stress can do to the body. But this verse says a peaceful heart leads to a healthy body.

Keep calm because it's good for your health.

Who's Your Father?

On Father's Day, there are many people who may not know who their earthly father is. There are people whose earthly father wasn't kind or loving. Maybe your earthly father even abandoned you.

If any of these are true for you, it's so important to know that you have a Father besides your earthy father who loves you dearly.

There are many Bible verses that will help us to know who our Father truly is. "See how very much our Father loves us, for He calls us His children, and that is what we are!" 1 John 3:1
"Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD will hold me close." Psalm 27:10 "You are my Father, my God, the Rock my Savior." Psalm 89:26

See, every person is very special and important. It doesn't matter if your earthly father wasn't there for you. Your heavenly Father is! He will never abandon you. He will always love you and hold you close.

If anyone asks, "Who's your father?" You can answer, "I am a child of God."

Children Of God

Since today is Father's Day I thought I would remind each of us who we are. We are children of God. He is our heavenly Father and He loves us with an everlasting love. (see Jeremiah 31:3)

Yes, our Father God calls us His children because that is who we are. Let's never forget this!

Renew

Every day we can wake up and renew, refresh, and reset our attitude. We may not be too happy with our attitude the day before, but today is a new day.

Pretty obvious this text would not be in the Bible if we always kept the right attitude. We don't! We need to ask God to renew a right attitude within us.

Look Fear in the Face

We all have experienced fear in one way or another. But we can gain strength, courage, and confidence when we face fear head-on.

We all have been fearful at times. But when we put our trust in the Lord, He will help us face our fears and still move forward. By facing our fears, we will be stronger, more courageous, and have more confidence.

You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you stop and look fear in the face.

I don't know who may need to hear this.

Many years ago, I needed to hear this message as a reminder. Of course, if anyone would have asked me, I knew it, but I was going through a rough time.

Out of the blue, a guy who had been in a youth group I was a leader in sent me a message. He said, "Remember Kay, you are not alone."

Today's Bible verse says, "And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20 NLT

I like how this verse says, "And be sure of this:" We can be sure that God is with us always. He's not only with us in our good times, but He is also with us in our dark times. Knowing this should give us hope.

Know that you are not alone. God is with you holding you, and most of all loving you no matter what.

How You Live Your Life

If our belief about God is that He loves us unconditionally, He is with us always, He only wants the best for us, He does not want us to worry or live in fear, He will give us the strength to do whatever we need to do, we will live daringly, boldly and fearlessly.

Our Bible verse says, "So be strong and courageous, all you who put your hope in the LORD!" Psalm 31:24 NLT

If our hope is in the LORD, we will be strong and courageous. How we live will be a testimony of what we believe about God.

Your life is a message to the world. Live daringly, boldly, and fearlessly. Live your faith out loud.

Keep Trusting God

We are often taken by surprise when the unexpected storms of life come our way. We're tossed and turned until we remember that God is with us. When focusing on Him and not the storm we can expect peace.

Our Bible verse says, "I have told you all this so that you may have peace in Me. Here on earth, you will have many trials and sorrows. But be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

We can have peace right here on earth when we have trials and sorrows when we understand that He is with us. It's hard to believe, but we can even be of good cheer because He has overcome the world!

Who Ya Gonna Trust?

American Flag Day

Our flag honors those who have fought to protect it and is a reminder of the sacrifices of our founders and heroes. The stripes represent the original 13 Colonies and the stars represent the 50 states of the Union. The colors of the flag are symbolic as well; red symbolizes hardiness and valor, white symbolizes purity and innocence, and blue represents vigilance, perseverance, and justice.

Today's Bible verse says, Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, and the people He has chosen for His own inheritance. Psalm 33:12. NKjV

Our nation has been blessed in so many ways because God is the LORD. We are one nation under God. We believe in liberty and justice for all. Let's never forget the many who have given their lives so that we can live in liberty, justice, and freedom.

Spend Quiet Time

Several years ago our family welcomed foster children into our home. All in all, we had 11 children. There were times when we had 7 children in our home at once. We had a newborn baby to teenagers. I don't need to go into all that this entails, but I'm sure most of you understand this is a lot of work.

I was raised as an only child. Having to deal with my own children was one thing but dealing with several at the same time was another. I had not experienced having siblings so I didn't understand from a personal level how this interaction worked.

Having foster children you are not only dealing with the children and their issues you have their families and of course the social services. This can be a lot of stress at times.

One thing I learned that I would like to share is that I took time for myself. I had no time when the children were up, but I got up around 4:00 AM when everyone was still sleeping to spend time alone with the Lord. I read my Bible and prayed. I knew good and well that I was in way over my head and I needed all the help I could get.

It was during this time I read this quote from Martin Luther. “I have so much to do that I shall spend the first three hours in prayer.” Now I didn't spend three hours in prayer but I did learn from this quote.

If you have a lot to do and you want to keep your sanity, it's best to receive all the help you can get! I found spending quiet time reading and praying helped me to do just that.

Crisis Fatigue

In these stress-filled times, many people have crisis fatigue. It's very important to get rest. Not only physical but mental and spiritual rest. We need to show compassion to ourselves as much as we show compassion to others.

When you get away to a quiet place you can take your Bible with you. Read passages that calm you. Listen to sweet music. Pray. Don’t be in anguish. God is still in control. He’s got this, and He has His Hand on you!

Optimistic

I believe if we take this attitude we will look for something good in every situation, even if some days we have to look a little harder.

The LORD has given us this day. It's up to us to look for something good and rejoice and be glad in it.

Being optimistic means taking what life throws at you and saying, "I'm not going to let this get me down."

We Are A Work In Progress

Trees that endure the stormiest times grow the strongest. The same can be true with a person. Hard times can build character making us a much stronger person.

Years ago my friend Eugena gave me this Bible verse. "And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ." Philippians 1:6 GNT

This verse has encouraged me especially in the hard times of life. It's wonderful to know that our Lord has begun a good work in us. Even every hardship we go through can build character and make us a much stronger person. We are a work in progress. Our transformation will be complete when Jesus returns. (see 1 Corinthians 15:51&52)

Hardships often prepare ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny.

Rest Not Stress

When things seem to be in chaos we might wonder how we can live in rest and not stress. There are many verses in the Bible to help us live stress-free if we choose to put them into practice.

Today's Bible verse says, We who believe, then, do receive that rest which God promised...Hebrews 4:3 GNT

When we believe that God is in control we will rest in Him. We do not need to live in chaos and stress.

Take a break from all the chaos. God intends rest, not stress. Rest in the knowledge that He is in control.

Unexpected Ways

I have found this to be true in my life many times. It's almost mind-boggling when some things happen. You have no doubt it was an unexpected blessing from God.

Our Bible verse says, "Every good gift and every perfect present comes from heaven; it comes down from God, the Creator of the heavenly lights, who does not change or cause darkness by turning." James 1:17 GNT

When we are blessed in unexpected ways we should remember that every good gift and every perfect present comes from God.

When you are going through difficult times, keep trusting God. He knows how to bless you in unexpected ways.

Learn To Find Joy

There is so much going on now that is definitely not the picture of what I thought life would be like. I'm sure others feel the same way. However, we can learn to find joy in the story we are living in.

When we put our trust in God He will fill us with joy, peace, and hope. When we have this plus, God's love we will find joy in the story we are living in.

Sometimes you have to let go of the picture of what you thought life would be like & learn to find joy in the story you're living in.

Don't Take Things For Granted

People say you don't know what you've got until it's gone. The truth is we knew what we had, we just never thought we would lose it.

We take so much for granted. It's important that we pay attention to the good things we have. Life can change in an instant.

There's a quote that says, "The things you take for granted, someone else is praying for." How true this is.

Today, let's appreciate what we have before it turns into something that we had. Let's not take the good things we have in life for granted.

Perfect Love

I believe most people think that the opposite of fear is peace. While that sounds good the Bible says the opposite of fear is love.

Our Bible verse says, "There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love." 1 John 4:18 NKJV

When we know the perfect love God has for us His love will cast out all fear. We have nothing to fear when we experience God's, perfect love. God's love will set us free.

God's perfect love will not betray you, dismay you, or enslave you. God's love will set you free.

Keep Doing Your Best

We can waste a lot of time trying to figure out why everything is happening. If we keep doing our best in whatever we're doing and honoring God we can keep a good attitude and be happy.

Today's Bible verse says, "Happy are the people whose God is the LORD!" Psalm 144:15

When we make God the LORD of our lives, we will be happy. He has jobs for us to do and He will give us the ability to do them. (see 1 Corinthians 12:6) When we honor God and do our best, we won't waste our time trying to figure out why everything is happening.

Don't try to figure out why everything is happening. Keep doing your best and honoring God.

In Times Likes These

We are living in some interesting times. It's not like we've never gone through anything before. All of us have and some have come out bitter and some have come out better.

Today I posted two Bible verses. "The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust Him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving." Psalm 28:7 NLT "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." Philippians 4:13 BSB

These two verses can help us stay strong. When we put our trust in the LORD, we know He will help us do whatever we need to do. As we keep thinking about things we are thankful for, we will be filled with joy.

In times like these, we can be bitter or we can be better. I don't know about you, but I plan to put my trust in the LORD and strive to be better every day. I can do this and so can you by using the mighty strength that He provides.

Endure

What Could Go Right

People are interesting. We tend to focus on what will go wrong instead of what could go right. Then we wonder why we are afraid and upset when trouble comes.

Our Bible verse is one of my favorites. "They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the LORD to care for them." Psalm 112:7 NLT

When we confidently trust the LORD to care for us we will not fear bad news. I believe the main word here is "confidently." We can't be wishy-washy about this. If we are lookout! We'll be upset and fearful all the time.

Stop being afraid of what could go wrong and start being positive about what could go right.

Live Today

It's sad that many people are so afraid of dying that they forget to live. We are all tourists here. This is not our home. We need to trust the Lord and enjoy each day.

I love this Bible verse. "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. John 10:10 NASB.

Jesus came so that we could live life abundantly. The thief wants to steal and kill and destroy this life. Don't let him!

Make Peace A Priority

Peace of mind how sweet it is. Anything that costs you your peace is too expensive. When trouble comes we can keep our peace knowing that this too shall pass.
