Self Control

By Kay Heitsch

My friend, Lucia sent me this joke. I thought it was funny and to the point.
How often do we pray and want the Lord to do what we need to do for ourselves? In this cartoon, a plate of cookies is on the nightstand.
Our Bible verse says God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7
We have been given self-control along with power and love.
My prayer is to put all three into practice more often! How about you?

Earplugs

By Kay Heitsch

Be brave. Be strong. Be fearless. ~ Inspirational Quotes ~
Years ago, my husband was working out of town, so I was alone. At first, I was fine during the day, but I started to feel uncomfortable at night. I had friends suggest I buy a gun or at least record the sound of a weapon in case someone tried to break in.
When I went to bed at night, I would wake up hearing noises and feeling half-way scared. I prayed, remembered I was not alone, and put in earplugs. I stopped hearing noises and slept like a baby.
Our Bible verse says. Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you. Joshua 1:9
Once, I remembered that the Lord was with me and that I was not alone; I put in my earplugs and could be brave, strong, and fearless.

A Little Nudge to Remind Us

By Kay Heitsch

Please give us strength and courage, Lord, to bear what we must bear. And nudge us when our faith is weak to remind us You are there. ~ Motivational Quotes ~
When we experience difficult times, we need God's strength and courage. Sometimes, we need a little nudge to remind us that He is always with us.
Our Bible verses say. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Isaiah 40:29 And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Matthew 28:20

It's Okay

By Kay Heitsch

It's okay not to have all the answers. Because we serve the God that does. ~ It's Okay Quotes ~
This morning, I kept thinking these words: "Don't think twice; it's all right." It's okay not to have all the answers. Sometimes, we overthink things. We may not know, but we serve a God who does.
Our Bible verse says. "For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and hope." Jeremiah 29:11 NLT
God has a plan for all of our lives. It's a good plan to give us a future and a hope. We may not understand or have all the answers, and that's okay because God does.
It's okay not to have all the answers. Because we serve the God that does.

Walk It Out

By Kay Heitsch

Ultimately, it's not the talk but the walk that matters. ~ Walk The Talk Quotes ~
It doesn't matter how much we know, but what we put into practice that will give us the life Jesus died to give us.
As we read the Bible, we can see what we should do if we want to have this abundant life. It doesn't do much good just to read about it; we need to practice it daily.
Our Bible verse says. If you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them. John 13:17
True, we will be blessed if we know what the Bible says and do it.
Ultimately, it's not the talk but the walk that matters.

No Complaining

By Kay Heitsch

Go 24 hours without complaining (not even once.) Then watch how your life starts changing! ~ No Complaining Quotes ~
I read that the average person complains 15 or 20 times a day. Just imagine how different our lives would be if we exchanged complaining with gratitude.
Our Bible verse says. Do everything without complaining and arguing. Philippians 2:14 NLT
If we put this little verse into practice, our lives would improve.
Go 24 hours without complaining (not even once.) Then watch how your life starts changing!

Zip Your Lips

By Kay Heitsch

Wise people are not always silent, but they know when to be. ~ Inspirational Quotes
Our words have tremendous power. Wise people know when to talk and when to be silent. We don't always need to say something. Sometimes, zipping our lips is the wisest thing we can do.
Our Bible verse says. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14 NLT
If we ask ourselves if our words will please the LORD, I'm sure we know when to zip our lips.
Wise people are not always silent, but they know when to be.

How We Treat Others

By Kay Heitsch

After all this is over, all that will have really mattered is how we treat each other. ~ The Golden Rule Quotes ~
Yesterday, I saw a post asking if the person thought maybe "Karma" had something to do with why they were going through something. This reply got me thinking.
I don't know about Karma, but the Bible says much about how we treat others.
Today's Bible verses say. Do to others as you would have them do to you. Luke 6:31 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Galatians 6:7
There we have it! Treat others the way you want to be treated. And you will reap what you sow. Call it Karma if you wish to, but it is what it is.
What a wonderful way to live!
After all this is over, all that will have really mattered is how we treat each other.

Simple Believing

By Kay Heitsch

Peace comes from simple believing. ~ Peace In Believing Quotes ~
There is something about believing God is in control that brings peace and joy to our hearts. My life started to improve when I slowly developed this mindset.
Our Bible verse says. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing so that by the power of the Holy Spirit, you may abound in hope. Romans 15:13 ESV
I found this verse many years ago and have made it a favorite. As I believed, I was filled with joy, peace and hope. I didn't understand it, but I enjoyed the peace I felt.
Peace comes from simple believing.

You'll Understand Later

By Kay Heitsch

Time was a way of showing us what matters in life. ~ There's A Right Time Quotes ~
When we look back on our lives, I'm sure we can see things we didn't understand at the time. However, time has a way of showing us things that matter in life.
Our Bible verse says. Jesus replied, "You don't understand now what I am doing, but someday you will." John 13:7 NIV
We don't always understand what Jesus is doing in our lives. However, it may take time. We may not understand today, but "someday," we will.
Time was a way of showing us what matters in life.

Hidden Blessings

By Kay Heitsch

Look for the hidden blessings in every day! ~ Look For The Blessings Quotes ~
What a difference our day would be if we always looked for the hidden blessings every day brought. It would be fun! It's like the game hide-and-seek. God hides blessings, and we seek them out.
Our Bible verse says. But as for me, I watch in hope for the LORD; I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me. Micah 7:7 NIV
I like this, "But as for me," I plan to watch in hope for the LORD. I know He hears me. I will look for the hidden blessings He gives me this day.
Look for the hidden blessings in every day!

There Is Always Hope

By Kay Heitsch

Even on your darkest days, there is always hope. ~ Always Hope Quotes ~
We may not understand why things happen as they do, but when we trust the LORD, we know He does. We can be prisoners of hope. Even on our darkest days, there is always hope.
Our Bible verses say, Return to your stronghold, O prisoners of hope; today I declare that I will restore to you double. Zechariah 9:12 ESV Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5
We can be prisoners of hope! When we go through dark times, we can return to our stronghold! The LORD can give us double for our trouble when we do. We can trust in the LORD and not depend on our own understanding. What a way to live!
Even on your darkest days, there is always hope.

Our Reaction To Adversity

By Kay Heitsch

Your reaction to adversity, not the adversity itself, determines your life story's development. ~ Keep A Good Attitude Quotes ~
It is so important how we handle adversity in our lives. Trouble may make us or break us. It's all up to how we handle it. We can grow stronger and become more compassionate. Or we can be bitter and angry and see ourselves as victims instead of victorious!
Our Bible verse says. I have told you these things so you may have peace in Me. In the world, you have trouble, but cheer up! I have overcome the world." John 16:33
The Bible never says we will not have any trouble in life. What it says is we can cheer up and handle it in a positive way when we do. Jesus has overcome this world; we can have peace because of our relationship.
We can pray that we will keep a good attitude when facing life's difficulties. Doing this will help us enjoy our lives more.
Your reaction to adversity, not the adversity itself, determines your life story's development.

Whether You Know It Or Not

By Kay Heitsch

God will give you the strength you need to get through your situation. ~ God Gives Us Strength Quotes
Have you ever wondered how you have handled certain situations in your life? I know I have many times.
Like many of you, I have been in some challenging situations. The death of our son, Todd, taught me so much about the strength that God gives.
Our Bible verses say. I am the LORD, and there is no other; there is no God but me. I will strengthen you, though you do not know Me. Isaiah 45:5 So be strong and courageous, all you who put your hope in the LORD! Psalm 31:24
When Todd died, I did not know the LORD, but He gave me strength. After I came to know Him, I knew He would bring good out of any situation, and this gave me strength and courage.
It's all about the LORD, whether we know it is or not!
God will give you the strength you need to get through your situation.

Mystery Baby

By Kay Heitsch

Today is our oldest grandson, Noah's 15th birthday. He has come a long way since his birth.
To say Noah had serious problems would only be touching the tip of the iceberg. He had many labels on him, but no one knew what was wrong. He had a feeding tube put in right away and surgeries along the way.
Right away, we weren't sure if he would ever be able to walk or live a normal life. We were heartbroken but inspired to watch our daughter and son-in-law work hard to help Noah be the best he could be.
Through the Miracle League and other organizations, Noah has been involved in swimming, baseball, basketball, soccer, dance, and hockey! It's been wonderful to watch how Noah has enjoyed being involved.
A few months ago, Noah was finally diagnosed. Noah has Pierpont Syndrome. There are only 50 documented cases in the WORLD.
Our Mystery Baby is no longer a mystery. We are blessed to have Noah in our lives! He has come a long way, and God has helped us all along the way! Thank You, Lord! We couldn't have made it without You!

The Bible is full of verses about our thoughts. Our mind is a powerful thing. When we put the positive verses from the Bible into practice, our lives will start to change for the better.
Our Bible verse says. Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts. Proverbs 4:23 GNT
We have free will, and we are in control of our thinking! We must be careful about the thoughts we allow to roll around in our minds. We will do so when we realize that our thoughts shape our lives!
Your mind is powerful. When you fill it with positive thoughts, your life will start to change.
