It's amazing how a small change in a person's life can add up to big results.

I've known people who have tried to lose weight. They made a small change and gave up drinking sugar pop/soda and had big results.

Our Bible verse talks about starting out small. "And though your beginning was small, your latter days will be very great." Job 8:7

Just think what a big result we could get if we changed our thinking from negative to positive in some areas of our lives.

We can start out by making small changes and if we stick to it, these small changes can add up to big results.

Your Life Will Start To Change

What we think about has a huge effect on our lives. We can't expect to be happy if we think about all that's wrong in the world and in our life.

Our mind is a powerful thing. If we want to move forward in a positive way we need to be very careful about what we think.

You Control Your Own Happiness

We are responsible for our own happiness. We should never put the key to our happiness in someone else's pocket. Happiness is a choice and an inside job.

Today is a great day to stop giving people and circumstances the power to control our joy and happiness. Let's put Psalms 118:24 into practice. " This is the day which the LORD has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it."

A New Ending

We've all gone through hard times and have had people in our past and even today who have said and done things that were unkind. We do not have to let other people's opinions define us.

We can not go back and start a new beginning, but we can start today and make a new ending.

Our Bible verse says, "For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11 NLT

The LORD has plans for our future. They are plans for good and not for disaster. His plans give us a future and hope. Let's remember that each day is a new beginning to a new ending.

We all go through situations that are not so pleasant. Sometimes we choose to relive these days over and over.

Today's Bible verse says, Casting all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

When we cast our care it's the same thing as shaking it off. Because God cares for us we can give all our worries and cares to Him.

We can choose to cast our care and shake off these negative thoughts. Let's rise and shine. It's a new day!

Don't Underestimate

When we hug, smile, say a kind word, listen and give an honest compliment we are showing love to one another. Let's not underestimate the power of these small acts of caring.

Getting What You Want

Today I was outside getting rid of dead flowers. It can be a pain at times, but I want to have new flowers. I've found if I don't prune off the old it takes longer to for new flowers to grow.

It's like that in life. To get what we really want we need to have the courage to get rid of what we don't. If we want to be more loving we need to prune off things that do no help love to grow. If we want to be happy we need to get rid of self-pity. The list goes on and on.

The Lord will prune off the things in our lives that do not bear something good. We need to have the courage to let go of the old dead things so we can bear good fruit.

What Are You Expecting?

There's a quote that says, "Expect the best and get it!" I don't know if you can just expect the best and get it, but it's sure better to expect something good instead of always expecting something bad.

I find human behavior fascinating. Watching how some people are blown over by even little storms in life while other people can go through horrific situations and rise above the storm has always amazed me.

I've been through some life situations that weren't so good. It wasn't easy to rise above them, but it sure wouldn't have been to my benefit or to others if I lived in fear waiting for the next disaster to strike.

There are Bible verses that have helped me stay on the positive path. One I say when a fear thought comes to my mind. "For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control." 2 Timothy 1:7. Another one I use is, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly." John 10:10

There are many Bible verses that can help us live the abundant life that Jesus died to give us. It's the thief who wants us to expect something bad to happen and puts fear in our minds. But God did not give us the spirit of fear but of power, love, and self-control.

I've had some amazing things happen in my life when I least expected it. I've written stories about some of them. Some of you have read my story about "The Boxes." This story was about having a professional moving company give us all the new boxes we needed for our move free of charge. This gift was something I least expected and better than I had ever planned for.

I have no doubt that God will meet all of our needs. I've experienced this over and over in my life. When you least expect it something better than you expected will come along.

Remembering Good Times

Yesterday I increased my happiness by taking Grandma Z cookies to the construction workers and staff at Planet Fitness.

I wrote about smiles yesterday and I can tell you the beautiful smiles on those guy's faces when they saw those cookies brought joy to my heart.

Dodging Obstacles

This morning I went out for a walk. All along the way, I had to dodge sprinklers. I thought about how dodging these obstacles was a lot like life. We have to dodge many obstacles to get to where we're going.

When obstacles arise we may need to change our direction, but we don't need to change our goals. We can be grateful for these obstacles because they have strengthened us as we continue on our journey.

Yesterday Roger Federer, one of my favorite tennis players, lost at Wimbledon. It was a big disappointment.

However, in his news conference, he said something that really got my attention. When asked, "How long do you think it will take you to get over this loss?" He replied, "Oh maybe a half an hour."

Later John McEnroe stated, "It will take some of Roger's fans longer to get over the loss than Roger."

When we can't change something why waste our time thinking about it. When we feel discouraged or sad we can put our hope in God and praise Him because we know that all things work together for good. (see Romans 8:28) We can then move on. Let go and get over it!

Today I was reading about the value of joy. A doctor told how 35 to 50 percent of people are sick because they are basically unhappy. He said joy has significant therapeutic and healing value.

Inside Information

How many times have we had a knowing that we should do something or something just isn't right? I know I have many times. These knowings can be God giving us inside information.

Anyone who knows me very well knows my story about burying the bird. Had I not followed God's still small voice I would have missed a miracle. God's ways are not our ways.

Beautiful Destinations

We have all traveled some difficult roads. Some difficult roads are physical, spiritual, mental or just experiences we've had traveling on life roads. More often than not at the end of our journey is a beautiful destination.

One difficult road we were on was years ago on a vacation. We had our map and rented a car. We started out down a road that had been more or less washed out by a flash flood. This road was difficult! We kept going and there in front of us was our destination the beautiful Grand Canyon!

In our spiritual and mental life, we travel on roads too. Sometimes the road seems difficult but if we keep going we find we have reached a beautiful destination.

God will make us strong and make our pathway safe when we are on difficult roads in life. We may travel some difficult roads but very often they lead to beautiful destinations. Remember all things work together for good... (See Romans 8:28)

Free Will

We can use our free will to choose life by doing what is right! When we do it sets an example for our children to follow.

As we give thanks to the LORD and know that He will supply all our needs we are putting our egg's in God's basket. We can then start counting our blessings before they hatch. (See Romans 4:17)
