Unexpected Kindness

Today when I got on fb I saw a post from a friend of mine. Guy is a commercial pilot for a major airline. Yesterday he received a handwritten note from a passenger. This note thanked him for all he did.

This simple act of kindness sparked a colossal burst of sunshine in Guy's day. What else this did was to plant a seed that gave me a desire to show unexpected kindness that would add sunshine to someone else's day.

Ephesians 4:32 says we are to be kind and compassionate to one another. When we are kind and compassionate we are adding sunshine and planting seeds that will help change our world.

Don't Give Up!

There is not a person alive who has not gone through a rough period in their lives. We all have rough days and smooth days.

When we're going though a rough day we need do what this quote says, "Put your hand over your heart. When we do we can know that we are alive for a purpose."

Jeremiah 29:11 is a one of my favorites. It says, "For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."

There's a reason your heart is still beating . You have a purpose! You may be having a rough day, but don't give up!

What's The Rush?

I'm the type of person who seem to be in a rush most of the time. Today when I read, "The quieter you become the more you can hear." I stopped and listened. Much to my surprise I heard the birds sweetly singing outside of the window. Even though I wasn't even talking, my mind was so busy I never heard the birds.

"Be still, and know that I am God! Psalm 46:10 is a great verse to keep in mind when we get in a rush. Be still and know that God is God!

Today would be a great day to keep in mind that life is not a race, it's a gift. We can enjoy it more when we don't rush through it. We can be still knowing God is God. When we relax and keep quiet we may be surprised what we will hear.

Don't Just Exist...LIVE!

I think many people just exist in life and don't really live. They're afraid to try anything new.

We all feel afraid to try something new at times. But our faith keeps us moving forward with courage. We can move forward because according to Isaiah 41:10 it says, "Don't be afraid, for I am with you..."

Life is too short to just exist. Let's step out and find out. We don't need to have everything figured out. We don't need to be afraid because God is with us.

Gratitude Begins

I had a conversation yesterday that caused me to really think about entitlement. I couldn't help but think that one reason people aren't happy is that they  have a sense of entitlement. The feel that someone owes them something!

If we go through life believing life and people owe us something we aren't happy. I believe when we are grateful for what we have our sense of entitlement ends.

Be thankful and say so to Him... Psalm 100:4

This Is Not A Rehearsal

What exactly are we waiting for? If we're waiting for everything to be hunky dory in life before we can enjoy it we'll be waiting forever. Not to be negative, but when one issue is gone you can be sure, another one will come up.

We need to enjoy life now. This is not a rehearsal! I've seen people who have very little enjoy life more than others who have a lot. We need to remember life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it.

This Is Your Life

We need to enjoy our own life. Very often we pay too much attention to what is wrong with our life or what other people think.

We need to find the good things about ourselves and maximize them. After all, this is our life and we should make the most of it.

These two Bible verses are among my favorites. "This is the day which the LORD has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly." John 10:10

We can learn to rejoice and live the abundant life everyday that Jesus died to give us. We can be happy for each moment; because each moment is our life.

Faith Is Like WiFi

Our faith may be invisible, but we can see the results when we live by it. Things we didn't think were possible fall into place as we keep on keepin' on walking by faith.

Some people say they will believe when they see. When we live by faith we believe and then we see. Life becomes an adventure. We can have faith that the best is yet to come.

Blessed Are The Flexible

I started to take a stretching class at Planet Fitness. I'll admit it hurts to stretch sometimes. But if I want to be flexible and not get bent out of shape I need to stretch.

To keep running our race in life we need to stretch. We need to be flexible so we won't get upset over every little thing that comes along.

Like Philippians 3:14 says, I press on... To press on we are blessed to be flexible so we won't be bent out of shape!

Chasing The Wind

Chasing after things to make us happy is like a mirage in the desert. They look like they will give us the happiness we want, but sooner or later the happiness fades. Why? Because happiness is an inside job.

Our happiness is not found in material things no matter how much we have. Someone always has more.

In Ecclesiastes it says, It is better to be satisfied with what you have than wanting something more. It refers to this as 'chasing the wind.'

Life is short! We can choose to be happy now and stop chasing the wind. Life is more than things.

On Purpose For A Purpose

I was excited when I saw the Bible verse, "For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Ephesians 2:10

It's awesome to know that God created us on purpose, with purpose, for a purpose. There's a reason we are here.

Years ago after reading this Bible verse I sent in a prayer request. My prayer request was that I and every member of my family would be the people God created us to be. Plus, that we would do the work God had prepared for us to do.

There's something God has for everyone of us to do. We are created to live on purpose, with purpose, for a purpose.

I truly believe that!

Reason To Change

Many years ago I started to read Dr Norman V. Peale's books. I saw examples of people who had lives that I wanted. These people's lives gave me a reason to want to change.

We can't change people. However, according to 1 Timothy 4:12 we can be an example in what we say, the way we live, in our love, and our faith. We can live in such a way that others want what we have.

I'm so thankful I read about people who were wonderful examples to me and gave me a reason to want to change.

Today we can live in such a way that people want what we have. We can be the reason a person wants to change.

Smiling Is Contagious

Last week a box arrived at our home. On the front it said, "Smiling Is Contagious. Join The Club" I'll be happy to join that club!

Who remembers this song? S-M-I-L-E  S-M-I-L-E  This is what the world is needing.  S-M-I-L-E

We never know what a person is going through. If we take the time to smile it may help ease life's ups and downs for someone.

Proverbs 15:30 says, "Smiling faces makes you happy and good news make you feel better.

Today is a great day to be a carrier of a contagious smile! A smiling face makes us happy and a smile may also help ease life's ups and downs for someone else.

This is what the world is needing S-M-I-L-E. Be a carrier.

Relationships

I really think some people believe it's wrong to love themselves. But according to the Bible we need to love ourselves before we can love our neighbor.

Relationships are very important. They begin with our relationship with God. "Love the Lord your God with all your heart..." (see Mark 12:30) When we have that relationship we know God loves us unconditionally. Since He loves us we should love ourselves. When we do our relationships with others change for the better.

As we begin to love ourselves more our relationships with everyone else changes. We need to remember, "Love your neighbor as you love yourself."

Just Like He Said He Would

1 Cross 3 Nails = 4 Given. It wasn't the nails that held Jesus to the cross. It was His love for each and every one of us.

Easter says you can put truth in the grave, but He won't stay there! That's right, the grave could not keep Jesus. He rose just like He said He would!

When the women went to the grave, "The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn't here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying." Matthew 28:6

Jesus loved us so much that He died and rose from the dead, just like He said He would!

Happy BLESSED Easter! We have so much to be thankful for!

I Like You and I Love You

Many people love you. Many people like you. But there is only one who died for you...that is Jesus Christ. ~ Easter Quotes ~

Once I knew a lady who had Alzheimer's. She had stopped talking, but one day she looked up at me and said, "I like you and I love you!" That night she died. This was an awesome experience I will never forget.

Jesus Christ not only likes and loves us He was willing to die for us so we could have eternal life by our belief in Him.

John 3:16 is a Bible text Christians hold close to their hearts it goes, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

The joy to know that we can have eternal life because Jesus was willing to die for us is awesome. He not only likes us, but he loves us and was willing to die so we could have eternal life.

Forgiveness

Someone said and it's true, "Not forgiving someone is like drinking poison expecting the other person to die." Unforgiveness hurts us!

Today on Good Friday Jesus said on the cross, "Father, forgive them, for they don't know what they are doing." Luke 23:24

Today and everyday let's put Ephesians 4:32 into practice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 4:32 NIV

Let's remember not to drink the poison of unforgiveness. We will never have to forgive someone else more than God has forgiven us.

Stretch Marks

Let's start our day with these exercises. STRETCH our PATIENCE. RUN miles of FAITH. FLEX our LOVE for others.

In order to give birth to anything we have to stretch. It may be painful, but as we strain forward we will see results up ahead. These stretch marks bring positive results.

Many times on our journey our faith is being stretched. Stretching takes patience. We will go a long way if we run miles of faith. As we grow stronger we can flex our muscles of love for others.

Stretching, running, and flexing, are great exercises even in the spiritual realm. In order to keep moving forward we need to forget what lies behind and strain forward to what lies ahead. (see Philippians 3:13)

Let's get some stretch marks today by exercising our patience, faith, and love for others.

Everywhere The Bus Stops

Everywhere the bus stops someone gets off. We have to let people go. Everyone in our lives are meant to be on our journey, but not all of them are to stay until the end. ~ Life Quotes ~

It's hard sometimes when we move on in life and the people we cared about don't move on with us. I've had to leave many people behind when the bus stopped and they got off. However, some people needed to get off the bus. When they got off others got on too!

I do believe the people in our lives are meant to be there, but not all of them are to stay until the end. We learn lessons from them and they learn lessons from us. But when it's time for them to get off the bus we need to let them go.

We're all on a journey. We travel with some people for awhile and then it's time to let them go and travel on. Not all of the people in our lives are to stay until the end.

We Have A Choice

I wasn't expecting a 'storm' yesterday when I went to the new dentist. Actually, I was totally expecting great news. However, a storm I was not expecting was in the forecast.

I had to remind myself that "I have a choice." Even though I was feeling pain, even tears, from the news I could choose to keep a Positive Attitude In Negative Situation. P-A-I-N-S

When unexpected storms come our way we have a choice. We can, "Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture." Psalm 37:3 Plus, we can see our P-A-I-N-S in a new way. Positive Attitude In Negative Situations. We have a choice!

Great Investments

Smiles are great investments. The more you collect, the better you feel. ~ Smile Quotes ~

When we smile or someone smiles at us it makes us feel better.

There are many verse in the Bible about the positive effects of being happy. Here's two, "A joyful heart is good medicine." Proverbs 17:22 "A glad heart makes a happy face;...for the happy heart, life is a continual feast." (see Proverbs 15:13-15)

If we want to enjoy the life that Jesus died to give us (see John 10:10) we need to investment. Being joyful and having a happy heart life is a continual feast. Smiles are great investments. The more we collect, the better we'll feel.

Happiness Radiates

When we see a truly happy person they seem to radiate happiness. This is especially true with children. You have no doubt when they are happy!

I love this Bible verse and it goes well with radiating happiness. "This is the day which the LORD has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24 One translation actually says, "come, we will leap for joy and rejoice." Now that is really radiating happiness when we "leap for joy and rejoice!"

Today would be a great day to radiate with happiness and even leap for joy and rejoice!

Time

I seldom think about "Time." Once in a while I think, "You know, I've probably lived longer than I have left."

We all get 24 hours a day. No one has anymore time than someone else. Time is free, but it is priceless. How we spend our time is up to us. But remember, once it is gone you can never get it back.

Learn To Search For The Good

Sometime we need to learn to respond in new ways to old problems. If we have been used to dreading things we can change our attitude and search for the good.

For instance, if we dread being stuck in traffic we can learn to think that we might be stalled to save us from an accident. Either way we think, we are still stuck in traffic, so dreading it and being upset does us no good.

I like the Bible verse in Proverbs 11:27 NLT that says, "If you search for the good you will find it..." Sometimes we need to search for the good!

When we change the way we look at things, the things you look at change. Learn to look (search) for the good in everything.

Wishbone, Backbone & Funny Bone

We sure do need a wishbone, a backbone, and last but not least a funny bone to thrive in life. If we only have a wishbone we'll never get anything done. We need a backbone to keep going when the going gets tough. We really need a funny bone to laugh at ourselves and not take life so seriously.

The Bible says a "Cheerful heart is good medicine." (see Proverbs 17:22) I really believe that! Having a cheerful heart has gotten me and many others through some tough life experiences.

So remember to thrive in life use all 3 bones. Your wishbone. Have a goal. Your backbone. The ability to keep going when the going gets tough. And of course, a funny bone! A funny bone because a cheerful heart is good medicine.

Waiting For Perfect Conditions

I was looking for a quote today about not dreading. I like to add a Bible verse to go along with the quote of the day. Lo and behold the quote I put on was a Bible verse. (See Ecclesiastes 11:4)

When we dread doing something we can usually come up with a good excuse for not doing it. Dreading only makes things worse.

If we wait for perfect conditions we'll never get anything done! Sometimes we need to just do it now!

Power Over Your Circumstances

When we choose to have a positive and grateful attitude it determine how we will live our lives. We can't always control our circumstances, but we can control our attitude towards them.

It's good to know that a positive attitude gives us power over our circumstances, instead of our circumstances having power over us. We can choose to have a positive and grateful attitude knowing they determine how we will live our lives.

Moving On

Most of us have had to move on over the years. It's not easy sometimes, but when we do look back we can see moving on was really for our good. We learned a lot from the difficulties we went through and they toughened us for our journey ahead.

According to Isaiah 41:10 it says, "I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My [victorious] right hand of rightness and justice."

I love Isaiah 41:10 It's been very true in my life. The things I have gone through have strengthened and hardened me to difficulties. Jeremiah 29:11 is also a favorite because it tells me that God has a plan for our lives. It's a plan to give us a future and a hope.

When we make a decision to move on remember God will get you to where you're suppose to be.

Until You Know Better

I met a man years ago who would always say, "I used to think like that." I really liked that about him. He didn't put down what someone thought. He just let them know that he had found a better way.

Isn't that just life? We all change the way we think from time to time.
What we need to do is, "Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better do better."
