Let Your Light Shine

By Kay Heitsch

On Saturday, our grandson Eli was confirmed by the Bishop at St Joseph Cathedral.
The Bishop had a great message for everyone. He made the point that we are filled with the Holy Spirit, and we are to let God's Spirit shine through us. Be bold about your faith. I loved the message.
Our Bible verse says. Let your light shine before others, so they may see your good deeds and give glory to God. Matthew 5:16
As Christians, we need to let God's light shine through us so that people may come to know our loving and merciful God.

Use It or Lose It

By Kay Heitsch

Your talent is God's gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to God. ~ Talents Quotes ~
God gives each of us talents. What we do with them is up to us.
The older I get, the more I observe this in both the physical and spiritual realms. I've learned that what I use is developed. However, when I don't use it, I lose the ability to do so.
Our Bible verses, Matthew 25: 14-30 are very interesting. These verses talk about the talents God gives us. It essentially says use them or lose them.
Your talent is God's gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to God.

Knowing What To Ignore

By Kay Heitsch

The true art of wisdom is knowing what to ignore. ~ Inspirational Quotes ~
It's interesting how people view things. One person can see the positive, while the other sees the negative. To see the good in life, we need to learn what to ignore.
Our Bible verse says. This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24 NLT
The LORD has given us this day. Let's choose to rejoice and be glad in it.

Embrace The Life

By Kay Heitsch

Jesus came to give you an abundant life! ~ Embrace The Abundant Life Quotes ~
My life was forever changed when I realized that Jesus wanted me to live an abundant life. I wasn't sure what all that meant, but I knew it wasn't living by a lot of rules and regulations. I knew Jesus had set me free, and I wanted to embrace the abundant life He had for me.
Our Bible verse says. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. John 10:10 ESV
Why allow the thief to steal, kill, and destroy our lives? Jesus came so we can have life and have it abundantly.
Jesus came to give you an abundant life! Embrace the life Jesus has given you.

Go Quickly And Tell

By Kay Heitsch

When we have good news, we want to share it with others. This is what happened when Mary went to Jesus' tomb and learned that Jesus had risen, just as He said He would.
Our Bible verse says. He is not here; He has risen, just as He said! And now, go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead, and He is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there. Matthew 28:7
When we have great news, it's essential to share it with others. I recall the excitement I felt when I began studying the Bible for myself. I wanted to share it with everyone. I still do today!
Let's go quickly and share the good news about Jesus with others! He is not dead. He is risen!

A Powerful Place

By Kay Heitsch

It's not an easy journey to reach the point where you can forgive people. But it's a powerful place because it frees you. ~ Forgiveness Quotes ~
We carry a significant emotional burden when we choose not to forgive. We hold grudges, and we become bitter and angry. Forgiveness gives us power, and it frees us.
Our Bible verse says. Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” Luke 23:34
People often want to know what someone's last words were before they passed away. As Jesus hung on the cross, His last words were to ask His Father to forgive the people who had hurt Him. There is a valuable lesson to be learned from this.
It's not an easy journey to reach the point where you can forgive people. But it's a powerful place because it frees you.

What About My Son?

By Kay Heitsch

Do you believe that Jesus paid it all? Or do you think you need to add something to it? It's important what we believe.
Not everyone believes that Jesus paid it all. Some people think they need to demonstrate good behavior, such as attending church every week or performing good deeds, so they can contribute to what Jesus did for us.
Our Bible verses say. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him. John 3:16 & 17
What do you believe? Do you believe Jesus paid it all? When we stand before God, will we tell Him all that we did to deserve eternal life with Him? I can hear God saying, What about My Son? Wasn't what He did for you good enough?
Jesus Paid It All! Thank You, Jesus!

Live By Faith

By Kay Heitsch

Faith is taking the first step even when you can't see the whole staircase. ~ MLK Quote ~
We like to know what the end result will be when we step out. But when we walk by faith, we can take the first step even when we don't know what the end result will be.
Our Bible verse says. For we live by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7 NIV
When we are followers of Jesus, this is how we live. We can step out in faith even though we may not know the end result.
Faith is taking the first step even when you can't see the whole staircase.

Who I Am

By Kay Heitsch

I can only be who I am. ~ I Am What I Am Quotes ~
I've read that 10% of people won't like us no matter how nice we are. But I've also read that we are not designed for everyone to like us. Isn't that interesting? We are all unique. We can only be who we are.
Our Bible verse says. But by the grace of God, I am what I am. 1 Corinthians 15:10
By God's grace, we were created to be ourselves. If people don't accept that, don't worry. We aren't designed for everyone to like us.
I can only be who I am.

Anyway

By Kay Heitsch

People are unrealistic, illogical, and self-centered. Love them anyway. ~ Mother Teresa Quote ~
Grief can drain you of emotions. Trying to understand situations can be emotionally exhausting. But if we decide not to try to figure people out and love them anyway, we can be a lot happier.
Our Bible verse says. Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. John 13:34
Jesus loves us with all of our imperfections. So we do ourselves a favor by loving other people the same way.
People are unrealistic, illogical, and self-centered. Love them anyway.

From Rejoicing to Rejecting

By Kay Heitsch

People change all the time. ~ People Change Quotes ~
Today is Palm Sunday. On Palm Sunday, the crowds rejoiced and sang Jesus' praises. But it wasn't long before these same people were rejecting Him.
We all go through this experience in life. We have people we love and care about, and believe they feel the same about us. But we find out they changed, and we face rejection. Jesus understands.
Our Bible verse says. The crowds ahead of Him and those that followed shouted, "Hosanna to the Son of David!" "Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Hosanna in the highest heaven!" Matthew 21:9 NIV
This verse is interesting. It talks about the crowds and those who followed. We all know the story. The crowds not only turned against Jesus, but so did His followers. These were the people who were supposed to love Him. One day they were rejoicing, and the next they rejected Him.
People change all the time.

Acceptance and Love

By Kay Heitsch

Yesterday was Aunt Carmeleta's graveside service and luncheon. It was a beautiful sunny day, and I was happy to see close to or more than 100 people there to show their love. The food was delicious and plentiful, and Aunt Carmeleta would have more than approved.
I read the following quote today. "Love is an act of acceptance, that with all our imperfections, we are accepted and loved."
This was my relationship with Aunt Carmeleta. She loved and accepted me with all my imperfections. She put God's love into action toward me, and I'm sure with others, too.
Our Bible verse says. The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Lamentations 3:22
It's wonderful to know God's faithful love never ends.
"Love is an act of acceptance, that with all our imperfections, we are accepted and loved."

We all experience storms in our lives, but we can be assured that God will carry us through every one and give us the strength to make it.
Our Bible verse says. Good people suffer many troubles, but the LORD will deliver them from them all. Psalm 34:19
Just because we may be good people doesn't mean we won't suffer many troubles. But our awesome God will deliver us from them all.

By Kay Heitsch

Little by little, we let go of loss but never of love. ~ Love Never Dies Quotes ~
Knowing that love never dies can help us through our times of grieving and as we move on with life. Missing someone is sadness wrapped in a blessing because of our relationships with them.
Our Bible verse says. Love never dies. 1 Corinthians 13:8 MSG
What a blessing to know that love never dies. Our love is alive, and our loved ones' love is alive too.
Little by little, we let go of loss but never of love.
