I believe it is our mindset that will move us forward when we start out in an endeavor. We may have a desire but if we don't set our mind in a positive direction we may not keep going forward.
Our Bible verse says, Set your minds and keep them set on higher things. Colossians 3:2
When we set our minds and keep them set on higher things we will move forward and complete the things we set out to do.
