Did I Hear That Right?

Yesterday, I had my once-a-year Medicare check-up. I'm very healthy, so I rarely go to the doctor.

While the doctor checked things, I thought she said, "You have a heart murmur." But today, I thought maybe she said, "You're a hot mama!" Anyway, I'm not going to worry about it.

Our Bible verse says. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26

No matter what was said, God is the strength of my heart. I'm happy to know this!

Too Much

This quote doesn't say not to talk. It says not to talk too much. There's a big difference. If you're a talker like I am, this is hard not to do. I like to talk. But talking too much can lead to trouble.

Our Bible verse says. The more you worry, the more likely you will have bad dreams. The more you talk. The more likely you are to say something foolish. Ecclesiastes 5:3 TEV

I read this verse yesterday, and it caught my attention. If we worry too much, we are likely to have bad dreams. And if we talk too much, we will likely say something foolish.

Don't talk or worry too much.

Even In The Storm

When we experience life's storms, it's terrific to know peace even in the storm. We can have this peace when we know the LORD.

Our Bible verse says. "I have told you these things so that you may have peace in Me. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33 NIV

We will have trouble in this world—that is a fact. But when we live in a relationship with Jesus, we can have peace even in the storms of life.

There is peace even in the storm.

Resilience

We all encounter unexpected situations in our lives. Resilience is a choice to thrive and not just survive. We can rise above our circumstances and become the people we were created to be.

Our Bible verse says. But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

This verse teaches us how to be resilient. We must trust the LORD to give us new strength. If we do, we will rise above our circumstances and overcome the unexpected.

Resilience is all about being able to overcome the unexpected. The goal of resilience isn't just to survive but to thrive.

Do Your Best

We should always do our best effort at whatever we do. We can then be proud of ourselves and go to bed with satisfaction.

Setting Boundaries

I heard a message today about self-control and setting boundaries. We need to do these things to have the life Jesus died to give us.

Sometimes, we must say "No" to ourselves if our actions are not in our best interest. We also need to say "No" to some people.

I like to help people, but I've learned that some will take advantage of me. When that happens, my helping is ineffective; instead, I enable them. I've also learned to set boundaries. Some people don't like being told, "No," but this is best for them and me in the long run.

Our Bible verses today. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Galatians 5:22&23 NIV

When we live by the Spirit, we start with love and end with self-control. Everything else is in between. What a great way to live!

Attributes Of Love

What would our lives be like if we lived by the attributes of love?

Here's a list of the attributes of love. Love is kind, patient, keeps no records of wrongs, always protects, is not proud, not self-seeking, does not envy, does not boast, is not easily angered, always trusts, believes the best, and rejoices with the truth.

When you have time, read 1 Corinthians 13: 4-13. How wonderful life would be if we could live this way.

We can apply these attributes to how we treat ourselves and others, and our lives will improve if we do.

Bright Pink

Last week, I experienced something odd I would like to share with you.

As most of you know, I like to shovel. In the mornings, I am outside early. Since the sun hasn't risen yet, I don't wear sunglasses. One day, I was out later than usual, and the sun came out. When I came inside, everything was bright pink.

It scared me, so I went online to see if anything had been written about it. Sure enough, there was.

I read that what I was experiencing was called Afterimage. It's where your eye's photoreceptor cells become fatigued after exposure to intense light, causing the complementary color bright pink to be perceived when looking at something else.

I was happy to find that I wasn't looking through bloody eyes. From now on, I'll wear sunglasses when I'm outside.

Living a Life of Purpose

When we pray, "Your kingdom come, and Your will be done," we pray for the very best God has in store for our lives. God's plans have a greater purpose.

Unknown Future

It's reassuring to trust God in situations we don't understand. Ultimately, our future will be perfect when we are home with the Lord. Until then, we can live unafraid when we trust God.

We can trust the LORD and not rely on our own understanding. We don't know everything that is going on behind the scenes.

Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.

Small Things

This verse says that we should do everything we do with love. Imagine what our world would be like if we all lived this way?

Stay Calm

I understand it can be challenging to remain calm and relaxed when facing a difficult situation. But reminding ourselves that God is always working behind the scenes can help us stay calm.

There we have it. The LORD will fight for us. Our part is to stay calm. It's not easy, but with God's help, it's possible.

Opportunity

Anytime we have an opportunity to do something worthwhile, we will have opposition. It's interesting how people or our thoughts try to discourage us.

Although people have tried to discourage me, God will soon send someone to give me the boost I need to keep going.

When a door of opportunity opens for us, we might as well know there will be many opponents. But we can still keep moving forward with God's help.
