This morning when I was out shoveling my neighbor's dog Ellie came out. Ellie knows when I'm outside I give her a treat and throw her the ball. This is our relationship.
Ellie has a brother, William, by another mother. William is a cat. What is different about William is that he doesn't want a treat. In the summer William comes over just to hang out.
I thought about each of these relationships this morning and compared them to our relationship with God.
There's nothing wrong with expecting God to give us things we enjoy. But how nice it must be for the LORD to spend time with us when we just want to 'hang out' with Him.
