Everyone has gone through things in life that have knocked them down. Some people choose to stay down but others get up and move forward.

I had an Aunt Ruth who was chronically depressed. We'd go over to visit her and there she'd be still in her bathrobe with all the shades pulled down.

My mother would have none of it. She immediately opened up all the shades and even the windows in the summer. She pulled Aunt Ruth up and got her dressed. It wasn't long and Aunt Ruth was telling us jokes and laughing.

Sometimes we need someone who will have nothing to do with our pity party. Someone who will say, Get up!
