My Aunt Carmeleta is a gift from God. In reality, Aunt Carmeleta and I are not blood relatives. She was married to my mom's brother, Fred, and Aunt Carmeleta married Ken when Fred died.

It has never mattered; Aunt Carmeleta and I have stayed close. In my teen years, AC gave me some great advice. When people talked badly about me, she said, "Just ignore them and be yourself." Those words were simple, but they meant a lot. It didn't matter, Aunt Carmeleta accepted me as I was. She liked me being me!

Aunt Carmeleta's friendship and advice have been sweet over all these years. Aunt Carmeleta has been a true friend and God-given gift.

Hospice

Yesterday, while we were eating out, I received a call from Ken, Aunt Carmeleta's husband. Ken said Aunt Carmeleta had taken a turn for the worse and she was unable to walk. He was having Hospice come to the house and help out.

I call Aunt Carmeleta and Ken every Sunday afternoon. AC has had her ups and downs, as has Ken; that's a fact. However, Ken was still taking her to the donut shop last week, and they met with friends there daily.

Even though I knew this was coming, I am still sad. Please pray for Ken and Aunt Carmeleta as they go through this transition.

Our Bible verse says. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27

I need to apply this verse. Although my heart is troubled and upset, I know God will give me His peace.

Do You Recognize Him?

God is always with us, that's a fact! But do we recognize Him? When we go through our hardest days or darkest moments, do we see Him reach out to us through a peaceful feeling, a kind word from another person, or a caring hug?

Our Bible verse says. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. John 14:18 KJV

God will not leave us comfortless. He will send His Spirit to let us know He is there, or He will show up another way. We need to recognize Him when he comes.

Survivor

Last night, I watched Survivor on TV. It was one of the most inspirational episodes I have ever seen.

One of the players, Eva, has autism. No one knew it except Joe. Eva was under a lot of pressure doing an immunity challenge and began to have an emotional meltdown.

All the players encouraged Eva to keep trying. When she had completed the task, Joe, who was on another team, came over and held her close, knowing what she needed. Everyone was crying, including Jeff, the show's host. The patience and kindness I witnessed were astonishing.

Our Bible verse says. Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud. 1 Corinthians 13:4

That's the love I witnessed last night! Love is patient and love is kind.

Look For The Best

What would our life be like if we put this quote into practice? I have to believe it would be amazing. It's easy to find fault and focus on the negative things in life.

This is good advice. We should do our best every day, stress less, and laugh when we can.

When we sit around worrying about tomorrow, we lose sight of the good things happening today. Just live one day at a time.

One day at a time is all we should be dealing with. We can't go back to yesterday and can't control tomorrow, so live for today.

Let's Be This Kind Of Person

It's wonderful to have these special people in our lives. They are few and far between, but when we have them, we hold them dear.

This Bible verse tells us how we should live. We should be happy when someone tells us their good news; when someone is going through a hard time, we should show kindness and sympathy. Let's be this kind of person.

Let's take my heart treadmill stress test, for example. What if the results aren't good? I did my part to prepare for it. If the results aren't what I believe, it doesn't mean God has let me down or that He is not good.

We all experience this at times. But God is still good, whether we get what we want or not!

This verse describes Daniel's experience. He had made up his mind that even if God did not do what he wanted, he would still believe God was good. I love his attitude!

Family and Friends

I am thankful for my family and friends who remembered my 75th birthday yesterday on Facebook. I hope and pray I responded to each one of you. But if I missed someone, I want to say Thank You!

I had fun seeing the birthday greetings come in all day long. It made my heart happy!

Well, Am I Going To Live?

Yesterday, the day before my 75th birthday, I had my treadmill stress test and ultrasound.

Everything was going well. So, after it was over, I jokingly asked one of the girls, "Well, am I going to live?" In a solemn voice, the girl responded, "It's not up to me."

Her response made me smile! We can do our best to stay healthy, but it's not up to someone or ourselves to know how long we'll live.

Our Bible verse says. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in Your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. Psalm 139:16 NLT

Our days were recorded in God's book before we were born. Only God knows how long we will live.

When You Don't Understand

Today is my treadmill test. I don't understand why I'm taking this test. I walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes every day and work out on my Ball, too. To get ready for this test, I started running up and down the stairs for 5 minutes. I feel great, so I don't understand why my doctor thinks I need this test.

This verse tells me to trust the LORD even when I don't understand. I need to put it into practice today.

How Do You Identify Yourself?

Yesterday, I received a text message asking me to answer a few questions before I took my treadmill stress test in the morning.

I found it interesting that I was asked what my pronouns were and also if I identified as a lesbian or heterosexual. What this had to do with a treadmill stress test is beyond me.

Much to my delight, I heard a Christian message this morning asking, "How do you identify yourself? The answer was plain and simple. As Christians, we identify ourselves as children of God.

Our Bible verse says. But to all who believed Him and accepted Him, He gave the right to become children of God. John 1:12 NLT

When we believe and accept what Jesus did for us, we have the right to identify as children of God.

I identify as a child of God!

Believe

Today is 3-16. When I noticed that, I decided it would be a great time to use the Bible verse John 3:16.

Our quote today is, "Don't let your heart be troubled. Believe in Jesus." When we believe in Jesus, this belief helps us not let our hearts be troubled. It's essential to believe.
