Get Up Eight

There are times when we all disappoint ourselves with our behavior. Yesterday late afternoon was one of those times for me.

After an afternoon of shopping, we stopped and bought mulch. After unloading several bags, Bill left to buy more. I opened one bag of our usual brand of mulch, and it had changed! To me, it mainly looked like sawdust!

So, to make a long story short, we put this mulch down anyway. Let's say I wasn't in a very happy mood. To make matters worse, my throat was itching, my lips tingling, my ears clogged, and my chest hurt. But it was down!

Today's Bible verse says, Even if good people fall seven times, they will get back up. Proverbs 24:16 CEV

Today is a new day! I may have fallen yesterday, but I'm up today with the Lord's help!

Prime The Pump

One small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day. ~ Think About Good Things ~

When I read this quote, I thought about priming a pump. All you needed to start the water flowing was a small amount of water. It's the same with our thoughts. If we start thinking one small positive thought, it creates a flow of good thoughts.

Our Bible verse says, Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Philippians 4:8 NIV

This is excellent advice! If we want a good life, we must prime our minds by thinking about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Find Joy In The Journey

Every day we have a choice of how we will live our life. We can choose to follow our negative feelings, or we can choose to find joy in the journey.

Our Bible verse is one I repeat every day! This is the day the LORD has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24 NASB

We have a choice every day about how we want to live. We can choose to allow our negative feelings to run the day, or we can choose to rejoice and be glad in it!

I will choose to find joy in the journey God has set before me.

No Matter What

Because we often moved when our children were young, I tried to make a point that we should enjoy where we were because we wouldn't be there long.

My sister-in-law was an expert at cross-stitch. I admire her ability, so I decided to give it a try. So I cross-stitched the words "Bloom Where You Are Planted" and hung it by the door. I thought reading these words would be an excellent reminder to the kids and me to bloom.

Our Bible verse says, "I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content." Philippians 4:11

Being content in whatever situation we are in is a learning process. I have learned if I want to be happy, I have to learn to be content no matter what the situation.

What Should We Do?

We all go through difficult times. But we can stay strong, be brave, and love hard and true. When we do these things, we have nothing to lose.

Our Bible verse says, "The LORD Himself will fight for you. Just stay calm." Exodus 14:14 NLT

We can stay calm when we know the LORD is fighting for us.

What should we do? Stay strong, be brave, love hard and true, and you will have nothing to lose. The LORD Himself will fight for you!

Fear Can't Stop Me Now!

We all feel fear at times. But we don't need to let fear stop us. We can't allow fear to stand in our way if there is something we need to do. Having courage doesn't mean we won't feel afraid. It means you don't let fear stop you.

Our Bible verse says, The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." Deuteronomy 31:8 NIV

When we know the LORD Himself goes before us and is always with us, we don't need to be afraid or discouraged. We may feel frightened, but we won't let fear stop us.

It's so important the thoughts we meditate on. If we think about something long enough, we will no doubt say it out loud. Of course, if it's something positive, that's great! But if it's not, well, that's another issue.

Our Bible verse says, Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14 NKJV

When our thoughts and words are acceptable to the LORD, we know we will think and say the right things. What a great way to live. Help me, LORD!
