People

by Kay Heitsch

People come into your life for a Reason, a Season, or a Lifetime. ~ Life Quotes ~
We've all known a lot of people in our lives. Some people have come for a Reason. There are many reasons we may need them, or they need us. Even though these people may not be in our lives very long, they are there to teach us something.
Some people are with us for a Season. They came into our lives for an extended amount of time, but they didn't stay. We may have hoped they would be with us longer, but for some reason, they didn't.
Other people have been with us for a Lifetime. These people are usually family, but they may also be lifelong friends.
Today's Bible verse says, "Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God." Philippians 1:3 NLT
It doesn't matter if a person has been in our lives for a reason or a season or a lifetime. Whenever we think of them, we can give thanks to God.
I believe we can learn something from each person who has come into our life. Hopefully, it's something positive. But it may be nothing other than we don't want to be like them. We can still thank God either way.

Free Will

by Kay Heitsch

You must make the choice to take a chance if you want anything in life to change. ~ Choosing Quotes
God has given us free will. We can choose a positive attitude over a negative one. When we choose to be grateful over complaining these changes will also help our lives to change for the better.
You may not be sure these changes will help. Why don't you just take a chance that it might?
Our Bible verse says, "I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore, choose life, that you and your offspring may live." Deuteronomy 30:19
We all have free will and the ability to make choices. Our choices affect our children too. Let's make positive choices each day.
You must make the choice to take a chance if you want anything in life to change.

Be Careful!

by Kay Heitsch

The way you treat others says a lot about who you are. Be careful! ~ Quotes ~
I believe if we thought more about our behavior and what it says about us, we would be careful how we treat people.
A lot of people say that their behavior is a direct result of the way someone else is treating them. The following verse says the opposite of this way of thinking.
Our Bible verse says, “Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the Law and the Prophets." Matthew 7:12 NLT
The way we wish others would treat us is the way we should treat them. When we treat others the way we want to be treated, this is the essence of the Law and the Prophets.
The way you treat others says a lot about who you are. Be careful!

Focus on the Giver

by Kay Heitsch

Every day is a gift from God. Learn to focus on the Giver and enjoy the gift. ~ Enjoy Each Day Quotes ~
When we learn to focus on the Giver, we will enjoy the gift of each new day.
I have today's Bible verse written in the front of my Bible. "Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to end." Hebrews 12:2 GNT
As we learn to keep our focus on Jesus, our faith in Him will grow. We'll start to see that every day is a gift from God, and He wants us to enjoy it.

No Fear in Love

by Kay Heitsch

Today, I looked to see if there was a number listed of fears and phobias people have. Believe it or not, the article I read said it was not possible to number the fears and phobias that exist today. Wow, how sad!
The fear of dying was one of the biggest fears listed that people have. There were many reasons behind this fear of dying. Some people are afraid of having to deal with physical pain. Some are afraid of the unknown. Some fear the loss of control. Others fear punishment for the things they did or did not do. The list goes on.
I had some of these fears before I studied the Bible. It was a big relief to learn that I had nothing to fear about death or my eternal destination, because of my personal relationship with the LORD.
Once I got my eyes off of myself and focused on Jesus, all fear was gone. I learned that He had paid the price for all of my sins. It was a done deal. I didn't need to fear my eternal destination. I didn't need to wonder if I was good enough. Jesus was good enough! It wasn't about me. It was all about Him!
John 3:16 says, "God loved the world this way: He gave his only Son so that everyone who believes in Him will not die but will have eternal life." It is because of our belief in Jesus and what He has done for us that we have eternal life. What amazing love and a free gift!
At first, when I read the part in John 3:16 "will not die" I didn't understand what that meant. After all, we all will die physically. But when I read 2 Corinthians 5:8 this verse cleared it up for me. It said, "Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord."
I realized John 3:16 was talking about our spiritual self, who we really are, would not die. Our earthly bodies will die and go back to the dust, but these bodies are not who we really are. When we leave our earthly body, we will be at home with the Lord. Now that's wonderful to know. After all, this world is not our home. Heaven is our real home.
As Paul said, he would rather be away from his earthly body for then he would be at home with the Lord. Now that should give us confidence that we have nothing to fear when it comes to dying.
Really, we don't need to live in fear because the Bible says, "There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear." 1 John 4:18
What a way to live the abundant life that Jesus died to give us!

Never Invite a Thief

by Kay Heitsch

You would never invite a thief into your house. So why allow thoughts that steal your peace to make their home in your mind?
Years ago, Martin Luther said, “You cannot keep birds from flying over your head. But you can keep them from building a nest in your hair."
I think these two quotes are saying the same thing. We can't always control the thoughts that come to our minds. But if these thoughts are stealing our peace, we don't have to dwell on them.
Our Bible verse is a favorite of mine. "The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows]." John 10:10 AMP
Let's not allow the thief to steal the abundant life Jesus came to give us. Let's throw out peace-stealing thoughts and live life to the full until it overflows.
You would never invite a thief into your house. So why allow thoughts that steal your peace to make their home in your mind?

Choose to See

by Kay Heitsch

"The way we choose to see the world creates the world we see." ~ Berry Neil Kaufman ~
We all see things differently. Some people choose to see a good outcome in every situation. While others choose to see a disaster around every corner.
Our Bible verse today says, "From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the LORD is to be praised." Psalm 113:3 NASB
When we go through our day being thankful and praising the LORD, I believe we will see the good in the world.
The way we choose to see the world creates the world we see.
