The Naughty List

I'm still smiling after listening to our grandson, Noah, telling me who's on the "Naughty List."

Of course, Noah is not on it! However, he thinks his brother, Eli, is.

Noah started acting up while we were talking on the phone. Our daughter, Shannon, corrected him. Now, according to Noah, Shannon was put on the "Naughty List."

Noah had me laughing right out loud. But as I thought about this, I wondered how often I've put other people on the "Naughty List" but didn't see that my behavior wasn't any better.

I hope we all stay off of the "Naughty List" and see the good in ourselves and in others. 

Stand Up

When we go through something, and we don't like the way we handled it, there's no point wallowing in self-pity. Pick yourself up, with the Lord's help, and stand strong.

Our Bible verse is one I have written in the front of my Bible. "Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to end." Hebrews 12:2 GNT

When we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus we can stand strong no matter what we go through.

If you fell down yesterday, stand up today.

Who's Laughing Now

As most people know, our son Todd was killed instantly as a result of a car accident. Todd's death has had a profound impact on my life.

Since Todd's death, I've experienced many emotions. One day, in particular, I was alone in the house. I felt intense anger! I remember screaming and swearing in frustration about something.

Immediately, I had a flash of insight. It was odd, but I somehow knew my enemy was laughing. Now I was really ticked off but in a good way. I thought of a plan.

Today I found a Bible verse I had never read before. "Do not gloat over me, my enemies! For though I fall, I will rise again. Though I sit in darkness, the LORD will be my light." Micah 7:8 NLT

That day when I realized my enemies were laughing at my anger and depression, I decided to rise out of my darkness. I asked the LORD to help me to bring good out of Todd's death. I'm happy to report that the LORD certainly has.

We Can Have the Last Laugh

Since we all go through hard times, it's comforting to know that we can grow stronger. We can keep the faith and move forward.

Our Bible verse says, "Do not gloat over me, my enemies! For though I fall, I will rise again. Though I sit in darkness, the LORD will be my light." Micah 7:8 NLT

I believe our enemies gloat when we fall. However, we can have the last laugh! We can rise out of our darkness and grow stronger with the LORD's help.

You're Alive for a Reason

When you're having a rough day, it's helpful to remind yourself that you are alive for a reason. You have a purpose for being here.

This time of the year can be rough for many people...myself included. There are different reasons a person may be having a difficult time. I have found a good way to help myself is by helping someone else. We rise by lifting others.

Our Bible verses say, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God." 2 Corinthians 1:3&4

When we go to God, He gives us comfort in our troubles. We can then comfort others because of the comfort God has given us.

Having a rough day? Place your hand over your heart. Feel that? That's called purpose. You're alive for a reason.

Prisoners of Hope

When we keep a positive expectation that something good is going to happen, we have a wonderful feeling of hope.

Our Bible verse says, "Return to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope. Even today, I declare that I will restore double to you." Zachariah 9:12 NKJB

We are "prisoners of hope" when our hope is in the Lord. However, there are times we may feel discouraged. When we do, this verse tells us to "Return to the stronghold." What an awesome thought that the Lord will restore double for our trouble when our hope is in Him.

Hope is a positive expectation that something good is going to happen.

Look for Ways

I believe if we actually spent time each day looking for the many ways that God takes care of us, we would be amazed.

Our Bible verse says, "Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to Him than they are?" Matthew 6:26 NLT

When we look at the birds, we don't see them sitting on a branch all stressed out. They know that God will take care of them. Just think we are valuable to our Heavenly Father. He will take care of us too.

Today, let's look for the many ways that God takes care of us.
