The Focus of Our Life

What we focus on grows. If our focus is on the negative circumstances in life don't expect to be happy. However, if our focus is on our relationship with God, His presence fills us with joy, no matter the circumstances.

Our Bible verse says, "You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of Your presence and the pleasures of living with You forever." Psalm 16:11 NLT

God will show us the way of life when we spend time with Him. His presence fills us with joy now and forever.

God Whispers

There's a quote that says, "The quieter you become the more you can hear." I believe that is true. In a world filled with noise, we must choose to hear the whispers of God.

Our Bible verse says, "Your own ears will hear Him. Right behind you, a voice will say, “This is the way you should go,” whether to the right or to the left." Isaiah 30:21 NLT

I like how this says, "Your own ears will hear Him." I think most of us know the right thing to do when we listen to our hearts.

Train your mind to listen to what God whispers.

Don't Lose Hope

We all have our ideas on how something should work out. But that doesn't mean we lose hope.

Our Bible verse says, "So be strong and courageous, all you who put your hope in the LORD!" Psalm 31:24 NLT

If our hope is in the LORD we can be strong and courageous even when things don't go the way we thought they would.

Things may not go the way you planned, but don't lose hope. Stay positive and keep focused.

Every Moment

I learned so much from the death of our son, Todd. My eyes were opened to things I had taken for granted.

One thing I'd like to share is that you don't know what tomorrow may bring so please enjoy today!

Our Bible verse was one I put on our refrigerator right after Todd died. "This is the day which the LORD has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24

Many times, we spend too much time worrying about tomorrow instead of being glad in the many blessings we have today.

Every moment we spend worrying about tomorrow is a moment we lose enjoying today.

Peace of Mind

When we set peace as a goal it will not matter what is going on around us. There may be things we need to give up. But if peace is our goal we will organize our life to achieve that goal.

Our Bible verse says, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." John 14:27

Don't expect the world to give you peace. Good luck with that if you do. Our job is to not let our hearts be troubled or afraid. God gives us His peace. Let's organize our lives around it.

Quiet and Peaceful Life

Today is election day in the United States. Election hype will be everywhere. Each election cycle, national and local leader may change. We may have our candidate of choice, but we may need to put aside what we want and watch God move. Let's keep praying and always sow love and be an instrument of peace.

Our Bible verse says, "First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, requests, and thanksgivings be offered to God for all people; for kings and all others who are in authority, that we may live a quiet and peaceful life with all reverence toward God and with proper conduct." 1 Timothy 2:1&2 GNT

To live a quiet and peaceful life, we need to pray with thanksgiving for all people and those who are in authority.

Lord, make me an instrument of peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love.

Making the Right Decisions

Making the right decisions are so important. People don't realize how important decisions are until they make the wrong one.

It's not hard to make the right decisions when you know what your values are.

Our Bible verses say, "Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." Matthew 6:10 ESV "Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts..." Colossians 3:15

When we are making decisions, we can ask, "What would God's will be in this situation." Then choose wisely. You should have peace in your heart when you've made the right decision.

You know you have made the right decision when there is peace in your heart.
