Only God

By Kay Heitsch

Only God can fill an empty heart. ~ Only God Quotes ~
There is an emptiness in us that only God can fill. I lived with this emptiness for many years. I didn't know what was wrong.
After I turned my entire life over to God and accepted His way of being and doing, the emptiness was filled.
Our Bible verse says. Truly, my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from Him. Psalm 62:1
Our souls will only find rest, and the void will be filled in God alone. Our salvation is from Him.
Only God can fill an empty heart.

Unexpected Blessing

By Kay Heitsch

Yesterday, I received a text from my friend, Sherry, with whom I have been friends for well over 50 years.
I've written about how Sherry loved Todd so much when he was a baby that she decided to have children of her own.
This text Sherry shared was about her mother. In it, she put her mother's maiden name. I was surprised because her mom's maiden name and my grandma's maiden name were the same.
We both checked our genealogy and found out we are distant cousins! Sherry told me she has always felt a close connection with me.
Our Bible verse says. Out of the fullness of his grace, He has blessed us all, giving us one blessing after another. John 1:16
God always gives us unexpected blessings! I sure received one yesterday.

26 ~ Picnic Experience

 By Kay Heitsch

We didn't stay in the South very long, and Bill was transferred again. Each transfer was a promotion, so this made moving somewhat easier.
Todd and I were used to being alone. Bill worked long hours, and then these transfers left us totally alone, until we found another place to live. I never dreamed I would ever be without my Todd.
One day, I thought it would be fun for Todd and me to take a picnic lunch and eat out in a field behind our house. We ducked under a fence, and I found a nice spot under a tree. We put our blanket down, opened up our brown paper bags, and got our lunch out.
As we started to eat our lunch, I looked up and saw a huge bull running towards us. I can't tell you how fast I grabbed our stuff up, and Todd and I went running for the fence! We made it back under the fence before the bull got to us.
This picnic lunch sounded like a good idea at the time, but I should have checked this field before we ducked under the fence the first time.
This is yet another reason why I praise the Lord. Todd and I sure could have been in big trouble if we hadn't gotten under the fence before the bull got there.
"Write down for the coming generation what the Lord has done, so that people not yet born will praise Him." Psalm 102:18

Meaningful Work

By Kay Heitsch

We were created for meaningful work, and one of life's greatest pleasures is the satisfaction of a job well done. ~ John Maxwell Quote ~
There's a reason why we are here on Earth. We were created to do meaningful work that God prepared for us to do long ago. When we do the work we were created to do, we will feel the pleasure of a job well done.
Our Bible verse says. For we are God’s masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10
How awesome to know that we are God's masterpiece. He created us to do good works that He had already prepared for us.
We were created for meaningful work, and one of life's greatest pleasures is the satisfaction of a job well done.

Every Part Has A Purpose

By Kay Heitsch

God never wastes anything. Every part of your life has purpose. ~ Inspirational Quotes ~
I can look back on my life and see how every part has served a purpose. Not every part of my life has been good. But God has used every part for a good purpose.
Our Bible verse says. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28 NIV
We can relax when we know that God will work everything we go through for good. It may not seem good at the time, but God has a way of working good from it and using it for a purpose.
God never wastes anything. Every part of your life has purpose.

How You Treat People

By Kay Heitsch

Be careful how you treat people. What you do to others has a funny way of coming back on you. ~ Motivational Quotes ~
I believe it's very important how we treat people. If we're kind, we'll like how it comes back on us. But if we don't, hum? You'll reap what you sow. Be careful!
Our Bible verse says. So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. Matthew 7:12 NIV
This verse says in everything do to others what you would have them do to you! So how do you want to be treated? Think about it!
Be careful how you treat people. What you do to others has a funny way of coming back on you.

Keep Life Simple

By Kay Heitsch

Love God. Love Your Neighbor. Love Yourself. ~ Fulfills The Law Quotes ~
There are different kinds of love. Actually, if you look them up, they say there are 7.
I believe if we accept God's agape love for ourselves, it's much easier to love our neighbors and ourselves. We can even love our enemies. We don't even need to like them with this kind of love.
Our Bible verses say. Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthrew 22-37-39 NIV
Jesus made living life so simple: Love God, love our neighbor, and love ourselves. We make life too complicated with all our religious rules and regulations.
Keep Life Simple! Love God. Love Your Neighbor. Love Yourself.

What Happened?

By Kay Heitsch

Whenever a negative thought concerning your personal power comes to your mind, deliberately voice a positive thought to cancel it out. ~ Norman V. Peale Quote ~
If you have been watching the Olympics, you saw Ilia Malinin's Olympic dreams go up in smoke.
If you are wondering how this could happen, Ilia explained that when he got on the ice for his long program, every negative thought he had ever thought rushed to his mind.
I could not help but think what would have happened if Illia had immediately replaced these negative thoughts with a Bible verse. He could have said, "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." Philippins 4:13
Ilia had put in the work. He had done everything he could to win the gold medal. I truly believe he would have won if he had been able to replace those negative thoughts with a Bible verse and ask the Lord for help.
Our Bible verse says. “Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts” Proverbs 4:23 TEV
Our thoughts are very important. We need to be careful about how we think, because our lives are shaped by our thoughts.

25 ~ Funny Now, Not Then

 By Kay Heitsch

Now that Bill's dad told me to throw away this RX that had been banned, I knew I wasn't going back to this doctor. I was thankful, too, that the local women had warned me about him.
Bill's dad suggested I go to the University and see a doctor there. I don't know whether he knew the doctor or thought I might get better care. Anyway, I decided to go and see what they had to say.
I was very thin, weighing less than 100 pounds. That being the case, I didn't have big boobs. So, to compensate, I bought a push-up bra with these rubber falsies inside.
Deshawn's mom, Carol, was like me; she thought it was funny that I would wear this kind of bra. She would always say, "Someday you're going to get found out!"
I arrived at the University and was put in an exam room. I was told to take everything off from the waist down.
Eventually, an old white-haired doctor came in with a young resident. The younger man looked about my age, 24.
They both examined me, then the old doctor told the resident to check my breasts. I still had my top on with my bra. So, this resident checked my breast from the outside of my top.
Now, of course, the older doctor asked what the resident thought, and he answered, "fatty tissue."
Are you kidding? I was so irritated by now; I reached in and pulled out the rubber falsie, and now I snapped, "Is this the fatty tissue you're concerned about?
I knew, good and well, that this older doctor could tell what was going on, and somehow, he thought he would teach this resident something. I learned something, too. I took my falsies out before I went into the exam room again!
I drove back to K-mart. When I saw Bill, I was crying. He thought the doctor had given me bad news, but I was just mad about the boob incident.
I called my friend, Carol, when I returned home, and told her she was right; I finally had been found out! We both had a big laugh!

This story is funny now, but it sure wasn't at the time.
I eventually went to see Bill's dad. His report was that it looked like a cyst had already healed itself, which may have been causing my issues. I was relieved!
I didn't praise Jesus at the time, but now I am! I was healed without any surgery or medication. Thank You, LORD!
"Write down for the coming generation what the Lord has done, so that people not yet born will praise Him." Psalm 102:18

What Never Dies?

By Kay Heitsch

Agape Love never dies! ~ Inspirational Quotes ~
The definition of agape love describes it as unconditional, sacrificial, and chosen, rather than merely a feeling. Agape love is the kind of love that God has for us. His love never dies!
No matter what you've been through, always remember God's love for you never dies.
Our bible verse says. Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13 NLT
What never dies and lasts forever...faith, hope, and love!
When we have faith, hope, and love, we have it all.
Agape Love never dies!

Always Loved

By Kay Heitsch

There was never a day in your life that God didn't love you! ~ God Loves You Quotes
I know this is absolutely true! God loved us yesterday; He'll love us tomorrow, regardless of whether we mess up. We have always been and always will be loved by God.
I look back on my life, and even when I didn't recognize God, I can see He was still always there, loving, teaching, guiding, and helping me.
Our Bible verse says. “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness." Jeremiah 31:3 NIV
Don't let anyone fool you! God loves us with an everlasting love. He draws us to Him because of his unfailing kindness.
There was never a day in your life that God didn't love you!

Be Kind

By Kay Heitsch

If you have the chance to make someone happy, do it. Sometimes people are struggling silently. Maybe your act of kindness can make their day. ~ Positive Outlook Quotes ~
It's in our best interest to think of others and take our minds off ourselves. The "What about me" attitude only makes us miserable.
When we are kind to another person, it takes our minds off ourselves and leaves us feeling happier. We don't know what other people are going through. Our kindness can make their day.
Our Bible verse says. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 4:32 NIV
This verse is great advice. Be kind, compassionate, and forgiving. If we live this way, we get our minds off ourselves, help others, and are happier, too.
If you have the chance to make someone happy, do it. Sometimes people are struggling silently. Maybe your act of kindness can make their day.

23 ~ I was Warned

 By Kay Heitsch

I was happy to make friends with some of the women in the neighborhood. Not everyone was from the South.

One gal was from Las Vegas. From what I gathered, she might have been a working girl there, if you know what I mean.

Anyway, she had a little girl named Cindy. Cindy and Todd played together a lot. Todd was three when we lived here.

One day, Todd had gone to the bathroom. I heard him yell, "Cindy, come in here and wipe my butt." We used to joke about that with Todd for years.
I was having some female issues, and I needed to find a doctor. I shared this with some local women and told them who I was planning to see.

Immediately, they told me this doctor was going to tell me I would need a hysterectomy. They were right! That's precisely what he said and gave me an RX from his office.

I didn't know what to think. I was only 24. I called Bill's dad since he was an OBGYN. When I told him about this RX, he told me not to take this drug! It had been banned.

God was watching out for me again! Had I taken the RX and had a hysterectomy, I would never have had Shannon or Brandon.
"Write down for the coming generation what the Lord has done, so that people not yet born will praise Him." Psalm 102:18
